I'm sure it's an age thing, but I have seen it before in the awesome 80s miniseries.

If there's anyone else in my shoes, is there any reason to try this one out?

LOL. The original poster was being sarcastic.

ABC'S "V" OPENS BIG - #1 NEW TV SHOW OF THE SEASON

ABC's "V" Opens Big - #1 New TV Show of the Season

Some V highlights ahead of the regular press release

Opposite stiff established original competition in Tuesday's 8 o'clock hour, including CBS' top-rated NCIS, NBC's Biggest Loser and Fox's So You Think You Can Dance, ABC's V opened a strong #1 in Adults 18-49, soaring to the top of its slot and leading second-place CBS' NCIS by 19% (5.0/13 vs. 4.2/11).

In fact despite its early time period with lower overall viewing levels and with no network lead-in, self-starter V stood as Tuesday's #1 TV program overall in the key young adult sales demo and as the season's highest-rated new series debut this TV Season. In a good sign for future viewing the new ABC drama generated tune-in throughout its premiere, growing in both Total Viewers (13.8 million to 14.1 million) and Adults 18-49 (4.9/13 to 5.1/13) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour.

V marked ABC's strongest performance in the time period among Adults 18-49 in 3 years (any programming) since 11/14/06.

Topping CBS' spinoff NCIS: LA series debut in September by 14% (5.0/13 vs. 4.4/11 - which had the added advantage of airing out of the season opener of NCIS), V qualifies as the top-rated Tuesday night fall series debut among Adults 18-49 on any network since 2005 and ABC's highest since 2003 since 9/20/05 and since 9/23/03, respectively.

V opened with the highest Adult 18-49 rating for a regular 8pm drama debut (any net/any night) since ABC's Lost on 9/22/04.

Does anyone else see TERRIBLE writing in this press release? The syntax of some of the sentences is terrible, and so is the opening line.

Good advertisement, good show, pretty good ratings, mediocre press coverage.

Very decent numbers for The Biggest Loser. Even with NCIS and V, it still manages to get at least a three in the demo. Even Jay seemed stronger than usually.

Very decent numbers for CBS but still, they bleed viewers and demo throughout the night. Would CBS even move NCIS to the 9 pm timeslot?

Wow for V. Amazing numbers. I really enjoyed V but even though it could have been better in some parts, I am hooked. Dancing is still strong, over 15 million is very good for a results show. The Forgotten is still... Average.

SYTYCD is still a few notches off of it's summer cycle but it's cheap and young skewing.

Melrose Place needs to go. Not even Heather could save this trainwreak.

LOL, I guess when your biggest complaint is a bad press release, the new show is doing well right?

While "Numbers" had its episodes cut from 22 to 16, there are several other CBS shows that were given notification to increase their episodes for this season.

quote:
In related news, CBS has upped the episode orders of How I Met Your Mother, NCIS, NCIS: LA, CSI: Miami, and Two and a Half Men from 22 to 24, while requesting one additional episode of Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, The Big Bang Theory, The Good Wife, CSI, and The Mentalist, bringing their totals from 22 to 23.

Kind of odd that the shows have different episode orders. A repeat of Big Bang with new episodes of 2.5 Men and HIMYM? Perhaps 2.5 Men and HIMYM are getting the post-Super Bowl slot?

Yes it is. But if I remember correctly, Season 4 of Criminal Minds went from a 22 order to 27 episodes. So maybe in ordering just one more episode will allow the cast and crew to work their normal schedule, instead of working weekends to accomodate the order.

Or maybe it will allow them to either find a way to work in the spin-off episode or even create a whopper of a season finale. Who knows.

A lot of shows added an episode or two to make up for the shortened season due to the writer's strike but it's normal for established shows and even new shows to get additional episodes.

CBS has March Madness so it's likely that some shows will prempted in that period so it wouldn't make sense to give them additional episodes plus you have factor in the Olympics and I would suspect some shows will air repeats rather than new episodes against certain events.

Sometimes I really think CBS does not give The Big Bang Theory the credit they deserve for the great numbers it is putting up. They never give it much promotion. All they do is simply tack on a 10 second promo with Two and a Half Men's promo every week, and only promote Men as the # 1 sitcom, while never mentioning that BBT has become # 1 with younger viewers.

It sounds like BBT's season will end a week early like last year while ROE gets the 9:30 time slot for that week. If you remember they did that last year with ROE airing in BBT's 8:00 time slot and then again at 9:30. So much for becoming the # 1 sitcom on TV in the demo. This is the nice reward CBS gives them. A shorter season than Men and HIMYM.

Well, to be fair, I would think it would be harder to advertise a show as number one in a certain demo (which most of the public probably won't understand) than as a number one show in viewers (which everyone can understand).

I know you love TBBT but are you really accusing CBS of giving it the shaft compared to the other
comedies? Remember, they can still increase the number of episodes too. Are the promo ratios for the comedies that slanted?

The Big Bang Theory got an additional episode order for this season. So how is CBS giving the show a shaft?

Well, FOX promotes The Cleveland Show as the # 1 new show, because it has the highest demo, while CBS never recognizes its demo leader. All they do is promote Men as the # 1 sitcom.

They did the same thing to BBT last year giving it 23 episodes while HIMYM, Men and CSI : Miami all got 24. It may be only one episode, but to me it is symbolic of their thinking. How in the world does the # 1 show gets one less. They obviously wanted an extra half hour for ROE, like last year, and I think it is just a slap in the face that they cut BBT one episode short of the other two sitcoms for the second year in a row. I just think the network should recognize the incredible numbers this show has put up this season.

As I said in my other post it is just the symbolism behind the one episode. Last year BBT got cut out of the last week of the season, as well. They only got 23 episodes while Men and HIMYM got 24 last year, also. At least last year the show was at 8:00 performing well, but this year the show has exploded. I just think that CBS may not recognize the great numbers that this show has put up. They never show it in their promotion, and now they obviously value having an extra episode of Men and HIMYM over BBT.

Since when did a 1.50 million figure scream "season renewal", even for the CW? The show's survival will depend on how much Heather Locklear will boost its general audience, which I'm not expecting much.

If the CW does renew MP for a second season, it'll be all due to pride, not admitting egg on their face for airing this disappointing remake.

I am not saying a 2nd season. I am saying a pick up.
