Not comparing quality of program or anything but the lizard aspect and somewhat dark tone just reminded me of those shows. It could find a solid niche audience of demo viewers.
As for it being NCIS, that's not really a surprise to me. CBS shows are not overly exciting most weeks and people can always go back and watch the reruns later on. CBS still had a good night though, even with the Good Wife sinking below WAT-level demos. Producers of that should have a series finale ready for May.
Interesting how DWTS has its own audience. Its not affected by lead in at all. ABC needs to place the results show at 8pm this midseason to face Idol and try out the Middle on Tuesdays at 9pm. Scrubs and Better off Ted could just as well air at 8pm on Tuesdays from December through mid-March. Air the second half of V eps at 10pm on Tuesdays in March/April or as a filler for Flash Forward repeats on Thursday.
How about moving DWTS Results to 8pm, airing LOST at 9pm and V at 10pm. Next September, V moves up an hour to 9pm.
V - the quick cop to the terrorist angle brought the show down a bit. More agents, more investigations, more people not who we thought they were. Aaargh. And while the religious angle is highly pertinent, it wasn't particularly well done. A guy rising from a wheelchair? A church suddenly filling up?
That said, it's worth a few more looks although I wouldn't be surprised if there were some substantial drops over the next few weeks. I didn't see a major tv event in the making here, although it was kind of fun, which is something the tv world could use whether it's from this show or something else.

That would work but the comedies aren't strong enough on Wednesdays. I think the 8pm hour will completely collapse and that would only hurt the promising 9pm hour.
Finally a good new original show, never saw before!
I'm sure it's an age thing, but I have seen it before in the awesome 80s miniseries.
If there's anyone else in my shoes, is there any reason to try this one out?
Of the recent reboots/remakes of scifi shows, the new V stayed closer to the original then previous remakes.
Yeah, they just tweaked it slightly to appeal to modern sensibilities. Well, more like ANTI-modern sensibilities. "Universal healthcare is an alien plot to steal our water and eat us!"
I keep waiting for The Good Wife to be interesting and it disappoints. Even the conjugal visit, which could have been anything from dramatic and revealing to hilarious was perfunctory. And these happy endings to the less than riveting case of the week is starting to remind me of the few eps I watched of the ultra mediocre Close to Home.
Come to think of it, how much better is TGW than Close to Home? The cast is better, and the production is better. But is there really anything going on in this show that is entertaining? I'm not seeing it. It looks like a comfortable watch, as long as you are not particularly wide awake

Ever hear of the word "random?" Seriously, his ratings seem to be zigging around which is why I don't take the analysis thereof particularly seriously. I wouldn't even be surprised if we saw some more of these upticks, followed by sharp declines, leading to the all-too-familiar hand wringing about the wisdom of putting the show on at 10pm this season. This show is sitting there like cold pizza to go munch on when you're feeling a bit hungry and tired of cooking.
