You are right about that. Phoenix and KC are the only ones I know were preempted. There could be others, but I don't know of any other major market preemptions.

I live in KC and actually stayed up late to see the episodes (they aired at 11:37 CT here), and I loved them. I can see why the numbers were so high as they were really funny. How do those two markets factor into the final totals?
Kansas City is the 22nd largest TV market and Phoenix is 43rd. These shouldn't have a big effect, but I wonder if other markets and other networks also had similar preemptions for local political coverage?

You must mean the 6:00 hour. At least in my time zone, 7:00 is the first hour of prime time. I was ticked to say the least, but at least there was DOND on, so I had something to watch. I was very surprised to see that they did this though. It seemed to be a poor programming choice considering today will be sucked up with election coverage as well.

I'm pretty sure the 7:00 hour is prime time in CST and MST (and equivalent to 8:00 EST and PST). So they'd have to air at 6:00 hour.
EDIT: Dang, ninja'd by willowhaven.

Your right. I was thinking Eastern and Pacific time zones. In the Central and Mountain zones they start prime time at 7:00

I have to say this season of Prison Break is a lot better than last seasons. And I think it is ashame that not more people are watching it. If this is its last season, I think they will find a way to wrap it up. If Fox does order a final fifth season, maybe they will give it a short 13 episode run....to close everything out. Who knows, but since they have started to kill off original characters, I think that is a sign of this show coming to a close.

You know, that was the hardest thing for me to deal with when I lived in NC. I grew up in central, and I am back in central. That extra hour until prime time absolutely killed me when I lived in the eastern zone. We really are spoiled here by that hour.
Even with the renewal it doesn't mean that they will resolve the show at the end. I think they have to move terminator to wed, by less people ignoring it in a difficult time slot, the harder it will be to gain new viewers.

For once at long last FOX is actually rewarding the loyal core base of a show by not giving it the hook before its story could be fully told..think REUNION (they couldn't even be bothered to show the four they had in the can let alone complete the 13 episode order) or DRIVE that they yanked with ridicously low patience.
Besides do we really want to see an opportunity for FOX to role out yet another variation on a reality or game show?
I hope SAMANTHA WHO get renewed even though its a timeslot hit.
Yeah, I guess it is whatever you get used to. I have always lived in an 8:00 time zone, so that is the only time I have ever experienced prime time TV during the week.

I will agree, i was hooked with the first three episodes, but there is just too much competition and not much room in my dvr to record all shows.
also according to dialidol -- susan lucci is at the bottom for dwts.

I'm rather annoyed at how everyone always goes by Eastern Time. I've always lived in the Central Time Zone, so I think of 7:00 as being the start time and 11:00 pm as being awfully late for a newscast.

If the FCC and PTC have their way, something will have to drastically change with TV broadcasting. Either the Central/Mountain timezones will have to shift to the 8-11 primetime schedule so that they conform to the 'family hour' guidelines or all of primetime will have to become even more 'Puritan'.
Meanwhile, the tv viewers in Phoenix have to adapt their TV viewing habits twice per year as they don't mess with their clocks, but all the cable broadcasters and live sporting event locations do.

That is done because the people in the other timezones are smart enough to do the 'mental math' while the East Coast people need it spelled out for them.

in US the newscast only airs after the primetime? that`s very weird, here in Portugal the newscast airs at 8PM and the primetime doens`t finish until midnight.
