-Yesterday’s Winners: 60 Minutes (CBS), Football Overrun (Fox), The OT (Fox), Sunday Night Football: New England vs. Indianapolis (NBC), The Simpsons (Fox), Desperate Housewives (ABC), Family Guy (Fox)
-Disappointing: Brothers & Sisters (ABC)
-Yesterday’s Losers: Repeats of In Harm’s Way, Valentine and Easy Money on the CW, The Unit (CBS)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: NBC and Fox shared leadership on this first Sunday in November, with football ignited NBC the most-watched network and Fox beating NBC by nine percent among adults 18-49. New England vs. Indianapolis on NBC’s Sunday Night Football averaged an approximate 14.22 million viewers and a 5.3 rating/13 share among adults 18-49 for the prime-time portion (from 8:30-11 p.m.). Earlier in the evening on NBC was pre-game Football Night in America at 6.84 million viewers (#4) and a 2.5/ 7 among adults 18-49 (#3t) from 7-8 p.m., and 10.22 million viewers (#4) and a 2.8/ 7 (#4) in the demo in the 8 p.m. half hour. Thankfully for NBC, football season is still in full swing!
A half-hour football overrun opened the evening for Fox with a dominant 15.68 million viewers and a 6.1/16 among adults 18-49 in the 7 p.m. half hour, followed by The OT (Viewers: #2, 10.52 million; A18-49: #1, 4.3/11), the annual Treehouse of Horror Halloween themed episode of The Simpsons (Viewers: #1, 12.48 million; A18-49: #1, 6.2/15 – both season highs), King of the Hill (Viewers: #4, 8.60 million; A18-49: #2t, 4.3/10), Family Guy (Viewers: #4, 9.97 million; A18-49: #3, 5.0/11) and American Dad (Viewers: #4, 7.20 million; A18-49: #3, 3.7/ 8)). As reported on Friday, King of the Hill will conclude production this spring, while American Dad has been renewed for season five. And worth noting for Family Guy is the continued solid growth out of King of the Hill.
CBS got off to an above-average start on Sunday, with veteran 60 Minutes at 14.37 million viewers (#1) and a second-place 2.7/ 7 among adults 18-49 from 7-8 p.m. That led into The Amazing Race 13 at 8 p.m. (Viewers: #4, 9.76 million; A18-49: #4, 2.8/ 7), followed by Cold Case (Viewers: #3, 11.64 million; A18-49: #4, 2.6/ 6) and The Unit (Viewers: #3, 8.97 million; A18-49: #3, 2.3/ 6) from 9-11 p.m., which is not matching levels of former occupant Shark.
ABC kicked-off Sunday with a half-hour NASCAR prime-time overrun (Viewers: #3, 8.72 million; A18-49: #2, 2.7/ 7), followed by an abbreviated version of America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #4, 6.95 million; A18-49: #4, 2.2/ 6), Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (Viewers: #2, 11.69 million; A18-49: #3, 3.8/ 9), Desperate Housewives (Viewers: #1, 15.83 million; A18-49: #1, 5.8/13) and Brothers & Sisters (Viewers: #2, 9.72 million; A18-49: #2, 3.4/ 9). Retention for Brothers & Sisters out of Desperate Housewives is dropping, at just 61 percent in total viewers and 59 percent among adults 18-49 last night.
Last, and very least, was the CW’s deadly combination of In Harm’s Way (Viewers: 840,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 1), Valentine (Viewers: 772,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 1) and Easy Money (Viewers: 650,000; A18-49: 0.2/ 0), which were all repeats. No, it does not get much worse than that! For more on the CW, click on http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/news/nation...bcc081420c93ba060fd0 . Source: Nielsen Media Research data

The Simpsons is now officially renewed for three more seasons, meaning it will run for at least 23 seasons total--longer than any other scripted primetime network show in history. Still won't have aired as many eps as Gunsmoke did in 20 seasons, though. It'll be at 500 eps by the end of S23--Gunsmoke finished with 635.
Very funny ep last night--lots of recycled ideas, of course.

I watched (suffered through) The Simpsons last night to see the sendup of The Great pumpkin. It was the only good part of the show (other than the fooseball gag). Watching last night reminded me of why I gave up on The Simpsons years ago. It just isn't funny anymore. King of the Hill was better, making fun of MySpace people. On the other hand, it wasn't funny enough to make time for on Sunday night.

I remember when TAR was a demo magnet, even if it didn't get great ratings. CBS might be wise to keep this show at once per year and try to launch something new in the timeslot this mid-season. Was it just me or was the TAR episode a big load of emptiness last night?
No surpise about The Unit's decline.. This season has been bad from the start .. TPTB are screwing way too much with tis show and the results are tragically obvious.. The addition of the untalented Nicole portraying the equally contrived Bridget has not gone over well at all with the fans and losing Eric Haney was terrible too .. This show is not The Unit anymore and unless things change drastically I really do not see this making it for a full season !
60 Minutes had some nice numbers for not having football as a leadin, but the rest of the night is only "Manageable", by CBS standards
TAR should be doing well over 10 million, perhaps even 11 million, on average and a mid 3 in the demo.
CC has decent viewer numbers, but is just like the rest of the night.... eh.
The Unit is the weak link. not even 9 million and a low 2 in the demo. Pathetic.
Move CC to Fridays at 9pm. Axe The Unit. and use TAR in a different slot come February.
Relaunch Saundays with a Comedy hour at 8pm, Harpers Island at 9pm and a new non-crime Drama at 10pm. C'mon CBS, Sundays are now your weakest night, outside of Fri-Sat.

You're just pissed off about the opening, with the Homer-cidal voting machine. It's funny because it's TRUE.
Does anyone know when The Simpsons last did better than a 6.2 in the demo? Last year's season high was 5.7, which I think was also for the ToH episode.
While I agree the episode wasn't that interesting, for the first time, I was actually surprised at which of the teams came in last. Usually, it seems like manufactured suspense, and I thought the same thing until I saw who actually crossed the finish line in fifth.

The demo took a huge fall from Desperate Housewives. Do you have the half hours for both DH and B&S?
