Robert, here are CSI's numbers from last year.

09/27/07 25.22 M 8.2
10/04/07 20.97 M 6.4
10/11/07 19.79 M 6.1
10/18/07 21.22 M 6.5
11/01/07 19.06 M 5.7
11/08/07 21.94 M 6.5
11/15/07 21.37 M 6.5
12/06/07 18.80 M 5.5
12/13/07 19.87 M 6.1
01/10/08 18.18 M 5.0
04/03/08 20.58 M 5.9
04/10/08 20.09 M 5.9
04/24/08 17.02 M 4.7
05/01/08 18.01 M 5.1
05/08/08 18.07 M 5.0
05/15/08 18.06 M 4.9

That's a loss of 4.25 million and 1.8 in the demo from the first to second episode. So if DH's drop is terrible, what would you call CSI's? How about "it completely BOMBED"?

Terrance is a real piece of work.I've never seen a man so insecure...with that said I hope he and Sarah stick around-they have great entertainment value. Tina has emerged as a semi-villian.

Actually this was a terribel result for Amazing Race. Since it moved to Sundays this will be the smallest audience of any sports overrun episode (and they usually bump the ratings up a minimum of any where between 250,000 to 3 million in viewers).

For the fall cycles (on Sunday) this is currently the lowest average after two episodes.

Even during the Spring All-Stars they scored higher with their 2 overruns from sports.

Yes, but wasn't a part of the show up against the very sucessful DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES? That had to play a factor in it.

Also 10 MILLION sounds pretty good when you have slumping shows on other nights like CHRISTINE, GARY UMARRIED, and DOA-THE EX-LIST.

Not to mention a drop of 7 million throughout the season. These big shows tend to go up and down a bit but they're still solid shows.

Not really so welcome. With a much stronger lead-in, TAR should have gone up. Holding steady is a defacto disappointment.

I may be wrong but I don't think TAR's numbers have ever built HIGHER than 60 MINUTES in that time slot.

Sorry, if DH would've gotten 25 million last week and 20 million this week i wouldnt've called those terrible numbers. Not the drop is the big problem but the raw numbers. 15 million looked bad in spring let alone at the begining of the season

I don't think anyone is suggesting TAR should be cancelled. It simply needs to be moved. However, TAR is struggling in its current timeslot and CBS needs to put something at 8 PM that can hold the 60 Minutes and Cold Case audience better. TAR is not the solution for this timeslot.

I am unsure about total viewers (and probably not, though their might be an exception I'll check today). But in demos, without overruns it almost always outperforms 60 minutes. I am going back through the last 2 years to see if its also been beating it in the 25-54 demo (like it did last week).

TAR's doing fine in the slot. It's consistently CBS' highest demo performer on Sunday. That stands for something.

However, I think it could be used on another night like Wednesday @ 8PM while moving the two comedies to Sunday @ 8PM and 8:30PM. It could be a solid #2 or win the timeslot.

Disappointing? Hardly - it was fully expected. The strategy of placing a bunch of new shows with no star power on a heavily populated night of successful series on other networks was about as ridiculous as it comes. There is no way anyone could have expected more from the CW.

What they needed to do was to either resurrect a popular canceled series (Moonlight comes to mind) or a franchise that has a built in audience (Like Star Trek did when UPN started out) or create a show with Star power. (Laurie Metcalf doesn't quite cut it.) The latter would have been a challenge since many stars want nothing to do with shows on the CW, but perhaps they could have gone for that Damon Wayons project.

And if you're thinking hindsight is 20/20, my Daily Game picks for these shows were not too far off the actual numbers.

As disappointing as the opening night MRC-CW Sunday numbers were, they were relatively comparable to last season and not quite as grim as I feared from this mornings metered market results.

That being said, MRC and The CW must take some quick steps to try to salvage these precious shows, especially the dramas. Next Sunday, The CW-MRC should pull the '4real' double-up and the 'In Harm's Way' encores from the 5-7 pm Easyview slot, and replace them with encores of 'Valentine' and 'Easy Money'. This Easyview encore strategy should continue until the original numbers start to strengthen...they can still use the 'In Harm's Way' original at 7-8 pm, and when those episodes run out, they can replace them with the '4real' half-hours (has anybody heard how '4real' rated in the 5-6 pm timeslot?).

Finally, glad to see 'The Unit' get such a good number, despite airing so late on the east coast (starting at 10:30 pm). Next week, with no football overrun, should give a good indication of how it rates at 10-11 pm.

As for TAR, this is the first cycle since season 9 where it is performing worse then the previous year.

Cycle ten large improvement over the year ago fall edition, All Stars large improvement over the previous years spring cycle, and cyle 12's improvement over cycle 10's fall season.

I think you also have to take into account how the NFL games were Sunday- the three late CBS games weren't the most interesting (most of the country got Bengals/Cowboys, which was a little interesting late, but not that exciting)- plus others probably switched over to TBS for the baseball game.

I'm not that concerned with TAR's numbers- however, there might be some credence to putting it Wednesdays at 8 in the spring (but I would be concerned because it would be against American Idol part of the time).

Agree. We've seen TAR work in that timeslot, and nothing else has since, so it would be an ideal solution.

I am in the band wagon that feels a switch of the CBS Sunday and Wednesday 8pm hours would benefit the network. I actually think Christine and Gary are slightly older skewing so perhaps Gary into Christine in that 8pm hour would work. However, with the eye likely canning Worst Week here soon, its possible that Gary will go to Mondays and then repeats of 2.5 Men could simply come to the non-NFL overrun Sundays with Christine.

Masterpiece Contemporary began their fall run last night with a new series. I haven't watched it yet but it looks very, very interesting.

Plus there's the usual combo of True Blood, Dexter, Mad Men and Army Wives. None of which get big ratings, but added together start to pack a punch.
