Barely 4 mil for Pushing Daisies is just plain depressing. It was the best episode of the season.

Ah its nice to see people don't like Rosie as much as NBC thought they do. The peacock needs to start focusing on shows about real people. With this economy no one wants to see glitz and glam gunk week after week. I recent article I just read highlighted this and the belief that perhaps that's why shows like Dirty Sexy Money, Lipstick Jungle, and others have had trouble catching on.

Just like last year, the CBS lineup remained on par despite airing on Thanksgiving Eve. However, the other networks, with the exception of FOX's underrated "Bones" and ABC's Barbara Walters special with Barack Obama, do their usual thing by faltering more on the night.

Why am I not surprised dumont would react to "Rosie Live" in this manner?

Why didn't Rosie just copy the format of her old talk show, maybe interview the singers just before they sing instead of the lame attempts at comedy? My first thought after wasting most of an hour on this program (although I did enjoy Alanis Morissette's performance) was how I took for granted how great her former syndicated talk show was. Not only did I smell a turkey last night at 8pm on NBC but coming this spring, this variety show will also smell like lemons!

If you want a truly hilarious variety program this season, I strongly recommend viewing Comedy Central's A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!. It's out on DVD now but I'm sure you can catch one of its many repeats on Comedy Central until Christmas.

I'm a huge Stephen Colbert fan but even those who are not familiar with "The Colbert Report" will enjoy it. What makes this special so great was how some of the guest stars' public personas (Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, Jon Stewart and Jon Legend) were represented in a humorous way. Also guest starring singers Elvis Costello & Feist, and George Wendt ("Cheers") as Santa Claus.

Those Rosie Live! numbers are terrible. The fact that it lost ratings at the half isn't helping. I agree, it's not going to go to series. Variety shows are a genre of shows let behind. It's going to be very hard to bring it back.

DOND did decently picking up ratings from Rosie Live. Really big pickup at 9:30. NBC is smart making DOND specials and fillers mid-season.

PD and PP both were lower. PP didn't even pull a 2 in the demo.

CBS and Bones were on par with what they usually earn. The Barbara Walters special did well but I'm surprised CSI NY beat it in both viewers and demos.

Stylista failed to get CW on the map.

Once again the ABC chimps can't figure out how to program holiday evenings. Pushing Daisies can't hit 5 million. Private Practice original ep that could air on Thursday is wasted again. Barbara saves the evening and probably sweeps. Its not that hard. The Polar Express would've been an easy fix for last night into the news special. Then they could've found a pair of other holiday movies for tonight and Friday.

Rosie wasn't only a flop, but hurt the other two NBC shows. Why NBC felt the need to waste a new Law and Order is another mystery.

Bones held pretty strong, but House repeats are starting to become a major waste of space. Why they didn't move Kitchen Nightmares over this fall instead of letting that show die on Thursdays is another mystery.

CBS had an a-typical but older skewing than normal evening. Amazing how the viewer levels virtually fall by nothing, meaning the strength of all four CBS shows is 50+ and by a very significant margin. On nights like Thanksgiving Eve, that's a good thing to have.

I like Rosie...but that variety show was almost uncomfortable to watch.

I don't agree with that theory. There was an economic crisis in the late 1970s yet CBS's "Dallas" took off from the start. Viewers don't mind watching rich people's problems. However, I believe viewers have been turned off of shows like DSM and LJ because the characters just don't connect with them on a personal level, regardless of class status. I personally enjoy the increasingly juicy DSM but of course, I'm in the minority.

Thanksgiving Eve is considered a party night and a travel night. All the families were traveling (the ones that usually watch PD) and the women were out in the clubs with their girl freinds (the ones that usually watch PP)

CM was 1st in viewers and 1st in demo for the whole night. So how old skewing can it be

I don't know about that. I'm sure there on the phone as we speak to order this one. The result seems to be the threshold for NBC series.

...and those numbers are why Pushing Daisies is canceled. Beyond awful, and unacceptable for a weeknight during sweeps, or any night.

What a waste to air a new PP also.

Watched the Colbert Christmas Special on Sunday night. Very entertaining. I'm with you, highly recommend people catch this when it's on.

Remember, here only real success has been Daytime TV, when the hut levels are lower and a smaller audience is acceptable.

Perhaps it should have been Pink Lady and Rosie.
