Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 27 percent at this same point last year to approximately 33 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.
----------
-Saturday’s Winners: Baseball World Series, Game 3 (Fox)
-Saturday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Saturday Night Football (ABC), Notre Dame Football (NBC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Dominant Fox had a hefty advantage due to game three of The Baseball World Series, but keep in mind that all results are approximate because there was a rain delay and this was a live sporting event. In the distant No. 2 spot was football populated ABC, followed by CBS and virtually invisible NBC, which also aired football. In other words, there were a lot of sports on Saturday!
Unfortunately, there are no results past 11 p.m. ET. But based on 9-11 p.m. in primetime, game 3 of The World Series (Yankees 8, Phillies 5) averaged an estimated 14.28 million viewers and a 4.3 rating/14 share among adults 18-49, with the half-hour breakdown as follows:
Earlier in the evening on Fox was a rain delay in the 8:00 p.m. half hour (Viewers: #1, 8.67 million; A18-49: #1, 2.4/ 9), followed by a repeat of The Cleveland Show at an also dominant 7.44 million viewers and a 2.3/ 8 among adults 18-49 at 8:30 p.m.
In the battle of the Saturday Night Football, it was USC at Oregon and Texas at Oklahoma on ABC versus Notre Dame Football: Washington State vs. Notre Dame on NBC and they both fared poorly opposite baseball as follows from 8-11 p.m.:
ABC – Viewers: 5.65 million (#2), A18-49: 1.8/ 6 (#2) NBC – Viewers: 2.24 million (#4), A18-49: 0.5/ 2 (#4)
This could very well be one of NBC’s lowest rated Saturdays in the history of the network.
Capping off the evening was CBS’ combination of a repeat of CSI: Miami (Viewers: #3, 4.97 million; A18-49: #3, 0.9/ 3), a repeat of CSI (Viewers: #3, 5.38 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3) and 48 Hours Mystery (Viewers: #2, 6.54 million; A18-49: #3, 1.3/ 4), which deserves positive mention for building out of the CSI encore by 1.16 million viewers and 30 percent in the demo.
I'm sure Halloween threw off the ratings some since people were out at parties and doing other things than watching TV. However, baseball did very well for FOX. I'd also consider Saturday Night Football on ABC as acceptable, especially since it's doing better than their Friday lineup.

Notre Dame is so boring to watch. Not surprised by the low numbers.

They've had some of the most exciting games in college football this season. I don't how they ended up with their only primetime NBC game against such an inept opponent.

Why are you surprised? The show is probably dirt cheap, and it built throughout the season. In an article by James Hibberd, he stated in every version across the world, the second season has outrated the first season. By those stats alone ABC should have renewed it.

Honestly, I still feel the Saturday games should be daytime.
That 4 rating should/will go up in finals. Id say around a 5 or even 5.5 rating The rain delay will hurt the ratings a little, but considering it was a Saturday, the 11pm and beyond numbers may not be hurt too much.

If I'm NBC, I'd try to get some flex scheduling options included so games like USC vs. ND can be prime time.
