It is true that the Simpsons is not as good as it was in the glory days. It is also true that it is still better than all but one comedy currently on television (the Office). I don't think there's been more than 10 episodes in the history of the show that I would classify as "bad" compared to other shows.

I would love to see them bring back Futurama, but there are three other shows on FOX sundays that should be replaced before the Simpsons (and I'm a KOTH and Family Guy fan).

Bringing back The Winner is just sad. Although, in its defense, while it's bad, it's a watchable kind of bad. Kind of like William Hung.

OK - I give up. I have been selfish in seeing my own interests over FOX's.

Can they at least title the show slightly different so that I can be warned for the reruns... perhaps something like

The Simpsons - The Later Years

or perhaps divide them up like they did for Coke and have them called

Classic Simpsons and New Simpsons

Dear Pisher,

It would be helpful in the future if you could preface these kinds of notes with a "(sarcasm)" warning so that d can follow along.

Thanks!

Query: Should there be a separate warning for "(irony)", or should I just assume nobody knows the difference?

I often ask myself if I know what the difference between sarcasm and irony is. Or care.

But I always do so ironically.

Oh please, they've done that in like a dozen different eps already. And every other possible idea you could suggest. Didn't you see that South Park ep?

I think you'd also have to include the definition of irony too (perhaps in your signature). If people are spelling out sarcasm, they certainly wouldn't understand irony.

Damnit, pisher! I had Citizen Kane sitting on my TiVo unwatched!! Thanks. Thanks a lot.

We need to lay some firm groundrules here. No spoiling episodes in the forum until they are at least a century old!

Yeah, The Simpsons aren't as good as they used to be. If the movie does well, it might rejigger interest in the series.

I think the improvement that it usually makes over its lead in (this week 6.48 million viewers versus 3.81 million viewers) is notable, especially for a series that's nearly 20 years old.

Hi Marc

Do you have overnight ratings for late night Saturday? SNL that night was by far the funniest in the last few seasons and just wondering how it did.

Thanks

From the Howard Stern website today:

More questions about American Idol and it all comes back to this question; does your vote count? New information today raising questions about the credibility of the show. Two sources now claiming this to Howard 100 News: American Idol finalist Jordin Sparks has allegedly been assigned a “Makeover Team,” something the other two remaining contestants are not getting, according to our sources. And it’s a situation the other two contestants are said to be upset about. That reported Makeover Team allegedly includes a personal trainer, a dietician and a stylist. So does this claim that Jordin Sparks is getting special treatment in the home stretch mean something? Could it be an indicator that the final results of the show have already been determined? Howard 100 News working tirelessly on this story and acknowledging it’s entirely possible this information was planted with our sources. Still no response from FOX Television to Howard 100 News’ repeated inquiries.

I definitely thought it was the funniest this season.

...of the last few seasons? I don't know.

It was purely on the back of Molly Shannon which really goes to show how weak the cast and the writing is.

I did like the Penelope character, though.

I'm really going to put my faith in Howard 100 News.

Give me a break.

When did Marc's blog go from a lively, intelligent, (relatively) serious thought-provoking and adult discussion of TV ratings to an entertainment cesspool where Stern's antics are even commented on?

Just because it's from Stern doesn't mean it's a "cesspool" - I'm just putting it out there for discussion. You have every right to dislike Howard but you don't have to take it in this manner.

By the way, please join in on Game #25 of the P.I. Feedback Challenge! Big Grin
