Simply not true. I think perhaps your bitterness towards television in general has ruined your sense of humor.

Sunday is where the comedies belong, they mainly need some advertising and buzz to refuel them. Perhaps a new animated comedy. I would wait til post-baseball to relaunch them next year and give them some time. Then use the Superbowl to juice up one of them and another new animated comedy to air Sundays between the Simpsons and Family Guy.

I think The Simpson's is timeless. But I do not think it should run beyond another few seasons. After that, people will just start to not care about watching it on Sunday nights, miss some eps, and then watch them in repeats or syndication. And then of course there's the DVDs...

I really feel that ugly Betty would be a much better fit leading into Desperate. This week is going to be a very interesting week for all us monday morning quarterbacks who are going to critiquing the hell out of the new upfront schedules. Should be fun!!!!
Nine weeks ago everything was performing better. The drops seemed to begin with the early change to DST and repeat programming. I can't believe everyone decided not to watch tv any longer.

That is what Happens when you watch 30 Rock for a whole season.
(sarcasm) you are brilliant. great idea. you are so right on! simpsons is terrible. you should be the new head of programming for fox.

Yes, a lot of ABC shows are slumping from where they were in the winter, but - as for EM:HE last night - I think the 7th Heaven finale took some families away to see how the Camdens said goodbye. While the finale certainly wouldnt've made a big impact, the 2 shows do share a family audience. So while the effect was small, I'm sure one did exist.
Oh good - you pointed out first that it was a sarcastic comment and know how to talk down to the viewers. The job is yours!

We're now able to picture the Camdens doing whatever in that RV. Will they come back next week? Will they be gone 1 month? Is Simon going to join them now that he's done with college? This finale left us with plenty of stuff to envision, and that's exactly what the series finale of a family drama should do.
Nice job, 7th Heaven. You really did right with the 2nd series finale. See you in syndication.
Ratings have been bad all of last week. I don't think this is an isolated case; more like an epidemic.

yes ABC for once do the right thing if u renewed that bomb called notes from underbelly u can surely renew one of the funniest comedy's on right now GEORGE LOPEZ SHOW

This is based on the assumption that GREY'S can hold its own no matter the lead-in. Why risk that? It's possible whatever 8pm substitution loses viewer to the NBC comedies, then viewers stick to THE OFFICE at 9pm instead of GREY'S, then they miss a couple GREY'S episodes and lose interest. Or maybe SURVIVOR rebounds, leading into CSI which gains momentum against GREY'S.
I really believe that's how ABC hurt LOST. They moved it from 8pm to 9pm and inserted the tired and consistently low-rated GEORGE LOPEZ leading off a timeslot they owned, and viewers watched other networks and their 9pm show while missing LOST episodes and got bored from not knowing what's going on and wanting it to end already.

I agree with pisher re:The Simpsons. It's still a draw in the demo, and Fox is not going to cancel the show with the movie coming out in two months. If the movie tanks, or seriously damages the show by being awful, Fox will take a long, hard look. Then again, Fox isn't exactly flush with hits to replace it with.
But I allso agree that The Simpsons isn't what it used to be. Groening and company can still produce funny episodes, but the bad eps show up just as often, and they are not fun to watch in syndication. I sort of worry that The Simpsons will suffer the same fate as Roseanne. Roseanne was a pretty good show for the first 4 or 5 years, but the last 4 to 5 years were so terrible as to render repeats from any season unwatchable.

I'm all for bringing back Futurama (though they did KINDA do that already), but c'mon--The Simpsons, even now, is funnier than all but a handful of shows on television. I still laugh when I'm watching it. Of course, I don't hesitate for one moment to skip it if there's something else I want to see, or something else I have to do.
I think people just feel like they can see it anytime, in syndication, on DVD, online, etc. It could be canceled tomorrow, and it would still be omnipresent in our culture for decades to come.
Oh, and you might recall there's a movie coming out soon?
Anytime FOX feels like they aren't getting their money's worth, you can be sure they'll be happy to get rid of Groening, whom they cordially despise (and it's mutual, I believe).
But the show is still a cash cow, and I think it'll be around for at least a few more years.

Actually GLo has not lead into Lost with original episodes once this year and it only happened about once last year as well (I believe it was GLo's higher rated season premiere).
