I thought it was okay and yes, apparently it will air post-Family Guy next year. Not good news. Fox needs a new comedy hit and fast! quote: Originally posted by TK: I read a rumor that FOX is going to bring The Winner back next year. That can't be true, can it? That show was awful, and the ratings weren't good.

I love Brothers and Sisters more than DH at this point. DH is funny and campy but the characters are becoming very one dimensional. B and S has gotten better as the season has progressed and they are showing better writing, character development and acting. It has been slow in getting the ratings going but I'd say there is a pretty strong fan base. quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: quote: Originally posted by TravisYanan: Great viewer and HH retention for B&S... wish the demo retention was as strong!
76% in total viewers and 72% in the demo. Is that really a big difference?

Just 9 weeks ago (March 4) EM:HE drew a 5.3 in the demo. Last night it only produced a 3.7 quote: Originally posted by tv avenger: It was nice to see that Bros. and Sisters improved over last weeks not so great numbers. I also hope that abc sees the red flags regarding their sunday line-up. They need to be pro active and have a stronger show at 8 to kick start the night. I think everyone will agree, while still a strong show,Extreme Home addition needs to be moved to another time slot, it really is starting to drag down the night for the alphabet. I really feel that ugly Betty would be a much better fit leading into Desperate. This week is going to be a very interesting week for all us monday morning quarterbacks who are going to critiquing the hell out of the new upfront schedules. Should be fun!!!!

Part of that is daylight savings time. Part of it is Survivor and part of it is viewers tiring out. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: Just 9 weeks ago (March 4) EM:HE drew a 5.3 in the demo. Could part of it be due to Ty Pennington's arrest for DUI? It is afterall a family show...image is everything! quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Part of that is daylight savings time. FOX needs to be aggressive and move the Animation Block to Thursdays 8-10. It has been taking a hit on Sundays in recent months. Move 5th Grader to Sundays at 8pm quote: Originally posted by TK: Two questions about FOX's sunday night lineup. First, how do you explain how the rerun of the Simpsons consistently outdraws the new episode?
Second, why do they show a rerun of King of the Hill every week? Why not a second Simpsons rerun or a Family Guy rerun?

Very true. But abc finally has a tent pole on that night, something it has not had in a very long time. I am thinking that as long as Greys is still hot and doing well, people will be tuning into abc at 8, whether it be pre-tune in or they actually have something good to lead the night off with. I am going with either Pushing Daisies or maybe abc will pull the rug out from under us schedule two comedies on in that hour, possibly sam I am and carpoolers. quote: Originally posted by xwiseguyx: As long as they have something strong to kick off Thursday Nights with? If you think the animation block is doing poorly now, just wait until it would hit Thursdays. It would clash with NBC's male friendly shows like Earl, the Office, and Scrubs and fall flat on its face. Sunday is where the comedies belong, they mainly need some advertising and buzz to refuel them. Perhaps a new animated comedy. I would wait til post-baseball to relaunch them next year and give them some time. Then use the Superbowl to juice up one of them and another new animated comedy to air Sundays between the Simpsons and Family Guy. quote: Originally posted by TV-aholic: FOX needs to be aggressive and move the Animation Block to Thursdays 8-10. That's possible. Maybe resting it during the summer and letting the legal troubles subside would be a better idea. quote: Originally posted by asiancolossus: Could part of it be due to Ty Pennington's arrest for DUI? I'm thining animated. Back to You could become a big midweek hit however and Return of Jezebelle James from the Gilmore Girls creator also has good buzz flowing. quote: Originally posted by tvfan300: Back to You. quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: Fox needs a new comedy hit and fast!

Bring back Futurama and replace the Simpsons with it on Sundays. Put the Simpson's out of it's misery already. It's just not funny anymore and now these unfunny eps are going into syndication where they won't be funny for years to come. quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: If you think the animation block is doing poorly now, just wait until it would hit Thursdays. Don't kid yourself. Everwood was barely pilling 3.5 million last spring as it was, with a 7th Heaven lead-in of 5 million, sometimes more. Remember what happened to Everwood last spring the first time it aired without a new 7th Heaven on 5/15/06? A 1.6/2 household rating is what happened! Had Everwood also moved to Sunday nights this season (which likely would've happened if Runaway flopped) there's no way it would've maininted those numbers against family-friendly Extreme Makeover: HE. quote: Also, Brother's & Sisters did well tonight also. Desperate is sagging but very much still in the race while 7th Heaven should have quit while it was still ahead last year. Everwood could have done those numbers and probably even better.

I'm all for bringing back Futurama (though they did KINDA do that already), but c'mon--The Simpsons, even now, is funnier than all but a handful of shows on television. I still laugh when I'm watching it. Of course, I don't hesitate for one moment to skip it if there's something else I want to see, or something else I have to do. I think people just feel like they can see it anytime, in syndication, on DVD, online, etc. It could be canceled tomorrow, and it would still be omnipresent in our culture for decades to come. Oh, and you might recall there's a movie coming out soon? Anytime FOX feels like they aren't getting their money's worth, you can be sure they'll be happy to get rid of Groening, whom they cordially despise (and it's mutual, I believe). But the show is still a cash cow, and I think it'll be around for at least a few more years.

I will say...as someone who has NEVER missed a new episode of 7th Heaven on its first airing, I was extremely pleased with last night's finale. Could it have been better? Sure. But it was 100 times better than last year's series finale. My only complaint was the lack of former characters who were not present.
We're now able to picture the Camdens doing whatever in that RV. Will they come back next week? Will they be gone 1 month? Is Simon going to join them now that he's done with college? This finale left us with plenty of stuff to envision, and that's exactly what the series finale of a family drama should do.
Nice job, 7th Heaven. You really did right with the 2nd series finale. See you in syndication.
