----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC and CBS tied for the No. 1 spot on this third Sunday in May, with CBS the most-watched network (910,000 viewers ahead of ABC) and ABC No. 1 among adults 18-49. CBS’ older-skewing 60 Minutes won the 7 p.m. hour in total viewers (9.42 million), but finished second among adults 18-49 (1.6/ 6) behind ABC’s veteran America’s Funniest Home Videos (2.2/ 9). 60 Minutes led into the two-hour season-finale of Survivor: Fiji, which performed as follows by half-hour:

CBS/Sunday
8:00 p.m. Viewers: 12.29 million (#1), A18-49: 3.8/12 (#1)
8:30 p.m. Viewers: 13.25 million (#1), A18-49: 4.3/13 (#1)
9:00 p.m. Viewers: 14.39 million (#2), A18-49: 4.8/13 (#2)
9:30 p.m. Viewers: 14.40 million (#2), A18-49: 5.1/13 (#2)

Overall, Survivor: Fiji averaged 13.58 million viewers and a 4.5/13 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. One year earlier, Survivor: Panama concluded with 16.96 million viewers and a 6.2/16 in the demo on May 14, 2006, based on the final nationals. The live Survivor: Fiji reunion capped off the night for CBS, with 12.06 million viewers (#1) and a 4.3/11 (#1t) among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. Comparably, that was close to last season’s Survivor: Panama Reunion (Viewers: 11.65 million, A18-49: 4.6/11).

ABC’s aforementioned America’s Funniest Home Videos averaged 7.08 million viewers (#2), with a first-place 2.2/ 9 among adults 18-49 from 7-8 p.m. That led into sagging Extreme Makeover: Home Edition at 8 p.m. (Viewers: #2, 10.22 million; A18-49: #2, 3.7/11), followed by Desperate Housewives (Viewers: #1, 15.75 million; A18-49: #1, 6.0/15) and Brothers & Sisters (Viewers: #2, 11.92 million; A18-49: #1t, 4.3/12) from 9-11 p.m. While Desperate Housewives is still dominant, one year earlier the soon-to-season conclude dramedy netted 21.03 million viewers and an 8.2/18 among adults 18-49, based on the final nationals. Yes…that’s a big drop.

The final few minutes of Golf coupled with Dateline scored a mere 4.44 million viewers (#3) and a 1.2/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#4) on NBC from 7-8 p.m., followed by a repeat of theatrical Shrek at 6.33 million viewers and a 2.1/ 6 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m. A repeat of Thank God You’re Here capped off the evening for the Peacock net with just 3.84 million viewers and a 1.5/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m

Fox was also below average on this lackluster Sunday as a result of two episodes (repeat and original) of King of the Hill, two episodes (repeat and original) of The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad. Take a look:

Fox/Sunday
7:00 p.m. King of the Hill (R) - Viewers: 2.98 (#4), A18-49: 1.2/ 5 (#4)
7:30 p.m. King of the Hill – Viewers: 3.81 million (#4), A18-49: 1.8/ 7 (#2)
8:00 p.m. The Simpsons – Viewers: 6.48 million (#3), A18-49: 3.1/10 (#3)
8:30 p.m. The Simpsons (R) – Viewers: 6.70 million (#3), A18-49: 3.2/ 9 (#3)
9:00 p.m. Family Guy – Viewers: 7.21 million (#3), A18-49: 3.5/ 9 (#3)
9:30 p.m. American Dad – Viewers: 5.76 million (#4), A18-49: 2.8/ 7 (#3)

In series-finale news, The CW’s veteran 7th Heaven ended its historical 11-season run with 3.37 million viewers and a 1.1/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. Had The CW left 7th Heaven in its former Monday 8 p.m. home this season, the results would no doubt have been greater. Earlier in the evening was a repeat of 7th Heaven at 1.49 million viewers and a 0.5/ 2 in the demo at 7 p.m. And a repeat of America’s Next Top Model averaged 1.69 million viewers and a 0.6/ 2 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m.

So much for the build for Desperate Housewives...

The numbers for 7th Heaven are about what I expected.

DH dropped...really don't get it, last night was fantastic. It's sad to hope that the season finale can top 18 million or so.

Great ending to this year's Survivor. I am glad I stuck around after a boring beginning. Corny ending to 7th Heaven, but what do you expect? I am waiting for the Bus Movie Specials sure to come: 7th Heaven, 50 people, 1 bus, 1 bathroom.

Don't forget it had stronger competition in Survivor finale instead of Amazing Race.

Good news is Bree's returning next week. I dislike Susan's clutzyness as much as some but she's getting on my nerves. Having Bree back will help balance the storyline better.

Actually, it's usually up against Cold Case. So yes, the competition was 1.8 points stronger in the demo than last week for the 9 pm hour.

It was nice to see that Bros. and Sisters improved over last weeks not so great numbers. I also hope that abc sees the red flags regarding their sunday line-up. They need to be pro active and have a stronger show at 8 to kick start the night. I think everyone will agree, while still a strong show,Extreme Home addition needs to be moved to another time slot, it really is starting to drag down the night for the alphabet. I really feel that ugly Betty would be a much better fit leading into Desperate. This week is going to be a very interesting week for all us monday morning quarterbacks who are going to critiquing the hell out of the new upfront schedules. Should be fun!!!!

I wonder how much of this is due to the Sopranos final episodes?

As long as they have something strong to kick off Thursday Nights with? Think about how many years it took to put a show on in that time slot that had viewers and buzz.
