Now you know how the fans of Crossing Jordan feel.

At least the shows NBC cancels (Las Vegas, Crossing Jordan) in question were getting ratings around 6-7 million. CBS cancels shows that get 9-12 million. (i.e. Close to Home, Smith (after 2 episodes), etc.)

Last night's schedule was awful. The only shows that rocked my boat were USA's "Monk" and Sci-Fi's "SG: Atlantis".

I think CBS needs to move all orginial first air episode "The Price is Right" to premiere in primetime. I'd like to see "Price" air Sundays, Wednesday and Fridays at 8/7c for the remainder of the year.

Where does everyone think that "Smackdown" will land next fall. Will it still be on broadcast TV. Could it air Saturdays at 8/7c on Tribune-owned stations (including WPIX, WGN and KTLA) plus the WGN Superstation national feed? Will NBC pick it up and air it on Saturdays? I don't think My Network TV could ever pick this up at more favorable terms than what the CW had.

To be fair, TPIR is no DOND -- I think the show would bomb during primetime, especially 3 times a week.

Why? CBS is the good network, that gets good numbers every night, without using the same shows more than once a week.

NBC on the other hand, only has a few shows that get good numbers, so they use them over and over, or at least Deal or No Deal. Which is going to ruin it. Remember Deal or No Deal was getting 20 million less than a year ago? Now look, it's lucky if it gets 13.

8 p.m. hour was a repeat of Fox’s Bones (Viewers: #3: 7.04 million; A18-49: #2, 2.3/ 7)

Bones moving to Fridays has really paid off for FOX. It might be better off on Fridays than moving to Mondays in April.

But, with CBS, those shows are usually near the bottom for the network. at 6-7 Million viewers, thats middle of the pack for NBC.

Now, if NBC would dump its bottom feeders, 30 ROck, Scrubs, Friday Night Lights, than they might be able to start the slow climb up the ratings.

Well, MyTV does have little deeper pocket with FOX and Murdock behind it, so they may be willing to pay what the WWE wants for the franchise. MyTV needs a flagship show to start building their lineup around. Averaging just 1.5 million is nice growth, but will not cut it come next fall.

I wonder if Power of 10 would do well on the night? I doubt CBS would make TPiR a regular Primetime show.

Lets take a look at the big shows on CW with their last first run airing (fast nationals):

America's Next Top Model
3.80 million viewers, 1.9/5 in key demo

Smallville
3.67 million viewers; 1.5/4 in key demo

Smackdown!
4.72 million viewers, 1.4/4 in key demo

Supernatural
3.22 million viewers, 1.3/3 in key demo

One Tree Hill
2.90 million viewers; 1.3/3 in key demo

Reaper
2.64 million viewers; 1.2/3 in key demo

Beauty & the Geek
2.48 million viewers; 1.2/3 in key demo

Gossip Girl
2.34 million viewers; 1.1/3 in key demo

Even with a million less viewers, ANTM blew SD! out of the water in the area where they make money, that key demo. SD! had limited earning potential with some of the lowest ad rates out there. The CW could put out a show with half the viewers of SD!, still eclipse it in the demo and charge higher ad rates. And at the same time draw in viewers who would be interested in their other shows.

I think it was a solid business decision considering that SD! viewers did not cross into other CW shows. So even given the higher number of total viewers, the demo is in a sad state.

And these are last original airings. I am sure if you took season averages, it might be a better gauge and probably higher for a few of the shows. But I didn't have time to get all the averages. If any of you stat crunchers have season averages available, feel free to throw them up.

Surprised at the hatred for Amnesia. I'm not sure if I will watch again personally, as it was nothing special and I'm not watching anything else on the next couple Fridays, but I found it a refreshing change from the serious sets with ominous music that characterizes most primetime game shows in a post-Millionaire world (think Deal or No Deal, 1 vs. 100, Duel, Moment of Truth). I don't think this will be the show that leads the charge back into a more light-hearted and cheesy kind of game show (Fox Thursdays are already kinda taking that route), but I hope to see some more like that. Found it to be a lot more creative than Moment of Truth.

Good showing for Price is Right, and surprised that 1 vs. 100 was able to break 2.0 against it. Wonder if a lot of people (specifically in the demo) tuned from TPIR over to Amnesia.

Bones spiking from its previous Friday high, 1.6, to its 2.3 last night is downright weird. Some kind of statistical anomaly.

I guess Dateline was a few weeks too late with its Natalee Holloway coverage, as that was nothing near what 20/20 put up on a Monday.

Vegas last week and 20/20 this week continue to prove the power of the 2-hour special.

I think ABC and NBC being asleep at the wheel for the most part on Friday can open things up.

I still believe an ABC Friday of originals of "Wife Swap," "Supernanny," and "20/20" or "Prime Time Live" would win the night in households and very cheap to do - but they seem to like to do repeats of shows that don't repeat well in the first place, while sacrificing their top reality series against "American Idol."

It does seem like they have a monkey throw darts to do their schedule.

Great example, a friend of mine who is a Boston Legal fan asked me today if ABC had canceled it or if any new originals were on. He had no idea it was new during the strike...

ABC did an awful job burying it after shows that got raped by Idol.

Boston Legal would've been great to run in another slot where it could have a decent lead-in.

ABC just wasted originals with no promotion.

FOX Just Can't Get Enough Nightly Wins After 23 Days of the 2008 February Sweep:

After 23 days of the February Sweep, FOX continued to rack up more nightly wins on its way towards a record-breaking first place across all key measures in the February Sweep. The mammoth FOX lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous, record-breaking Super Bowl numbers, the powerhouse American Idol numbers, and reliable ratings strength on every other night (FOX has won all four Fridays and all three Saturday nights so far of the Sweep in the A18-49 demo).

In the young audience A18-49 demo that advertisers crave for ad placement, FOX has the most nightly wins, having beaten the other networks on 15 out of 23 nights so far (one tie), followed by NBC with five nightly wins (one NBC win was a tie with FOX).

After 23 days, NBC holds second place in the A18-49 demo with a .13 advantage over third place ABC. In the households and viewership measures, CBS continues to hold on to second place.

After 23 days, the two News Corporation networks FOX and MyNetworkTV are both showing solid double-digit improvement over their numbers from last year. All the remaining networks are showing significant double-digit year-over-year declines, with NBC showing the least year-over-year slippage (-11% in demo, -10% in households, and -8% in viewers) while CBS, who were last year's Super Bowl broadcaster, is faring worst (-57% in demo, -45% in households, -50% in viewers) due to its large proportion of encore programming as a result of the writers strike.

After 23 days, the six networks are showing smaller-than-expected (given the combined effect of the writers strike and increased use of DVR's) year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo down by -13%, households are down by -12% on a year-over-year basis, while viewership is down by -9% year-over-year.

So I just watched Knight Rider for the second time tonight and I have changed my opinion somewhat. It was still a bad movie, but I now see some potential as a series. If they do turn this into a series, I will at least give it another chance.

What was still bad ..... most of the movie. Specifically, the whole subplot with Mike's mother was terrible. From the time she was killed thru the funeral it was like she was an afterthought even to her son. I understand the need for her character and subsequent death as a means to bring in "The Hoff," but it was done so poorly.

Also, there were far too many characters. This show works when it is mostly about a guy who goes around doing good in a very cool car - period. Nothing against Deanna Russo, who is not only quite pretty, but probably did the best acting job in the movie (I actually thought her vulnerability was believable, or as believable as she can be when talking to a car) but she was too big a part of the story. Not meaning to be sexist, but this is a show where the "superhero code" applies with regard to relationships. The Superhero never gets the girl (or guy as the case may be) because the chosen life requires the sacrifice of solitude. In other words there needs to be a bit of sadness around the lead because of the sacfrifice. Mike shouldn't be able come home at the end of the day to his wife and family anymore than his father could.

Having said all of that, there are a few things that give me hope. Firstly, the new car is cool. Ultimately that is 50% of the battle. I though the interaction between KITT and the humans was better and more entertaining than the first time I watched it. Secondly, I though they did a better job of updating the series, without losing the original concept, than most other attempts to update old series (especially better than Bionic Women). I liked how they worked in "The Hoff." I like the fact that the producers avoided the evil government conspiracy theme that seems to permeate all action dramas these days (Of course that can be very effective if done well as in 24). I wouldn't call the "Black Water" bad guys exactly innovative, but it worked for me.

So, if there is a new Knight Rider I will give it a chance. The producer must keep it simple, mostly Mike and KITT. Deanna Russo's character should be part of the series, just not the part of dutiful girlfriend waiting at home with open arms. Really the series should written almost like a CSI procedural - identify bad guys, chase bad guys in car, sprinkle in a little character development, then catch bad guys, onto next adventure.

Well creatively it was dead according to many but NBC didn't want it anymore so they put it against Idol on Wednesdays and let it die. Had they moved it to Fridays 8pm along with Vegas and CI last year like they said they would, it would've probably thrived enough for another year.
