We know every year ABC struggles when DWTS ends and repeats become more frequent. This season will be even worse than the past few, IMO. At the moment ABC is struggling to win Thursdays even while GA is in first run.
NBC just continues to be NBC.
CBS's Procedurals continue to slowly fade, but until one of the other nets launch a line-up that is actually successful you can't argue against them.
Not a bad ep of Fringe last night, but I'm still not convinced they know how to make this show work longterm. Still a lot of script problems. I remain suspicious that most of the really nifty bits of dialogue come from Darin Morgan, even though he hasn't been credited on any of the scripts (and he's going to actually write one at some point, isn't he?).
As to the ratings, all I can say is that there are people here who'd insist they were stellar if they were for PD or SCC. Only I guess I need to let go of my PD-venom now, don't I? Aw.
FOX can charge quite a bit for the show's limited adtime, due to the demo-rich audience and the fact that Fringe viewers are less likely to switch away or leave the room.
Still, not encouraging that the ratings went down on the half hour.
Anyway, we'll likely be discussing Fringe's less than stellar ratings for years to come.
Wow, Fringe really dropped at the half hour. Good thing it's not gonna have to stand on its own for a while. The Mentalist held steady and is probably the bigger freshman hit.
Those 'Eli Stone' half-hourlies are a cause for concern, and have me wondering whether there is some sort of disaffection for the series.
If Mr. Berlanti still has any say or sway with ABC in their final mid-season decisioning, 'Dirty Sexy Money' might be the more reliable 10 pm choice to throw his weight behind. It does a much better job holding its 10:01 pm viewers until 10:59 pm.
This is most troubling, as both series are so well executed on every creative level. But perhaps three series by Mr. Berlanti is one series too far, and he will be able to over-deliver having just two series on his plate, just like the other ABC most-favoured-creator-producer, Miss Shonda Rhimes.
NCIS might beat CSI in viewers this week. Didn't expect it. Disappointing numbers for House once again, so the "winter time" didn't help at all. Great for The Mentalist, very close in demos with Fringe. Impressive
Perhaps, as Biggest Loser picks up late-season steam, we can put to bed this delusion that NBC's going to be trimming this show down for some reason. They're not going to cut into two hours averaging a 3.4 in the demo when they're giving back nines to shows that can barely pull 2.0. Period.

Fringe needs to get rid of its quasi-procedural elements and focus on the conspiracy. It's getting increasingly frustrating that the "mysteries of the week" have nothing direct to do with overall story of the show and yet they take up about 85% of the episode. And please kill Olivia and let her boss who is a lot more interesting become the lead.

If they do it the show is dead. I for one only watch it beacause of the procedural elements, and by past evidence many do the same.
