I agree. I wonder if Flavor Flav is the draw or if people watch it simply because it's a horrible display of human behavior?

If the VH1 audience, which tends to be more 18 to 34 demos shifts towards over, MNTV could have a monster hit on their hands.
Problem is, African-Americans are such a small minority that any shows aimed at them are guaranteed to have below average viewership levels. The NAACP Image Awards and CW comedies show this very well.

I'm told Sarah Connor Chronicles has gotten a 13 episode pick-up.

What about New Amsterdam??

Haven't heard anything except that the sets were struck way back when filming stopped... but I think the show was more successful that anticipated, so while I would usually say "struck sets = canceled", I won't say for sure on NA.

Well, I didnt like either of the shows, but I believe SCC deserves a renewal. NA however I still do not know.

New Amsterdam should get a renewal. But we are talking about FOX and they make some odd choices of what to support. If they look at the DVR numbers, New Amsterdam is scoring higher than SCC in total viewers, lower in demo. As I said before, it will either be the last one on the renewal list or the last one off the list.

The show was a draw for its train wreck feel, just like I Love New York, Bret Michaels, Hulk Hogan, Surreal Life, etc... For that reason, I kinda doubt that Flavor Flav will translate over to scripted fare well...which is also why I wonder about MNTV's choice to make it a scripted program rather than a pseudo-reality program like the other above mentioned shows.

"Such a small minority"? More like about 15% of Americans at the moment. Look at Tyler Perry's success to see the potential of this demographics.

Just a little tweaking of the show and it should be good to go.

I know I am in the minority, but I would love to see a NEW good terminator cast
Good news for all of us T:SCC fans that the show will be back. Not really a surprise, but good news none-the-less. As for the good terminator, Summer Glau is perfect.

I have to agree. Maybe the big 3 can't make a mark with African American demo programming but smaller networks like MNTV could if done properly. Not to just focus on one area, Hispanic demos should be another area MNTV targets with something. They kind of tried it with telenovelas that bombed, but if they could try regular scripted programs that appealed to that area, then it could work.

You need to look at it in TV terms, though. If a popular 'white' show draws 20 million, that means that a popular 'black' show is going to pull in 4 million. 4 million is fine for CW, MNTV, or TBS, but it isn't going to cut it on the 'big 4' networks. Any show that wants to survive on the big 4 has to have a broader appeal than just the African American demo.

With Univision, Telemundo, Azteca out there, is there a big Hispanic (but non-Spanish speaking) demo to go after?

It would all depend on development. A station like MNTV would have to come up with something that entices that audience and pulls them away from those stations. In the end it might not work, but I think its worth a try.

But we are precisely talking about a show on MNTV here? Confused

Thanks

I would actually say if FOX doesn't renew NA they are big fools. Because it cost less then terminator and it already is sneaking up on Terminators ratings itf not on the same level
