Next season, CBS has to try a new show Friday at 9. They are just wasting the advantage they have with Moonlight. It is continually pulling down the schedule and forcing Numbers to pick it up again.

Friday at 9 is probably the toughest time slot of the week. It has been proven that even GW's repeat at 9 got a much smaller number than when it is repeated at 8.
Moonlight is a great show, and it's refreshing to see CBS take a chance, for one, with a genre show. I'm pretty sure CBS will pick it up for another season at the same time. It is a huge success story.

Huge success? Close to Home had better numbers and was cancelled. I expect Moonlight to be too.

You're probably oblivious to the fact Moonlight has a huge fan following, that the cast now appears in various conventions and events all over the place, and between all the buzz and the marketability of the show overseas as well (and it is selling well all over the world), CBS will keep it on the sked. Hey, those suits can smell profits, and I can just see millions of fans worldwide buying Moonlight merchandise. This show ain't going anywhere.

Huge fan following? I never hear anyone talk about this show. Where is it selling well? I'd like to know where you heard this.

You not get online too often since Moonlight has been generating buzz since its premiere and the new series beside SCC of FOX getting the most attention from both fans, critics, and Nina who openly supports Moonlight and why I think it has a better than decent chance of getting a renewal of at least 13 episodes .
Of course I could be wrong but since CBS screwed me out of The Unit I'd like to see Moonlight survive at least ..

I love how you totally downplay buzz when talking about the Unit, which had none, and now talk it up for Moonlight, a show that should never have been launched to begin with.

I'm not downplaying anything .. The Unit had no buzz yet did bring in decent rating/demos while Moonlight has plenty of buzz but yetbrings in questionable ratings/demos. CBS drops The Unit for BB and Shark yet neither series is doing anything for CBS and then Moonlight does return after much hype and yet is not adding to but keeping the same ratings/demos LOL !!
I'm trying tp understand the logic of CBS and making myself crazy in the process .
I really enjoy Moonlight but in all honesty I'm still pissed Moonlight gets a shot up yet The Unit is shot down but do think it is very interesting that despite no hype or buzz from CBS The Unit still was averaging 10+ million viewers and at least worthy demos while often coming in third place too but Moonlight while coming in third is holding on but still struggling and that is will constant hype and buzz - Go figure ?

Well at least that makes it the longest Friday thread in a while. But it doesn't make ML performance any better.

Why not move Numbers to 9pm and ML to 10pm if the latter is renewed?

Yes, I assume people kind of got the hint this thread was linked on a ML fansite considering the "Friday Night Ratings" thread turned into a Moonlight duscussion.
I just wanted to be honest about it, and I'm a casual fan of Moonlight.

Do you think moving the show to 10PM would be a good move?

I think CBS will renew, but not for an entire season....13 episodes like someone else mentioned. The network will see where it goes from there.

Is it really that bad if ML loses some rating in between GW and Numbers as long as it still wins it's time slot and demo for 9PM, and CBS still wins the night with ML in it's lineup?

The only reason it wins its time slot is because of no competition. Which show of Duel, Dateline NBC or the mighty FOX repeat movie did you expect to beat it ? It was a guarantee it would finish first in that group, just a matter of how many viewers it got.

The problem is next fall it won't. DOND will whip this easily and if WMC returns to Fridays with any sort of a lead in at all, it will beat it in total viewers like before and be fairly close in the demo.

Moonves has made some really stupid moves but bringing Big Brother back wasn't one of them. It brought in better demos and similar viewers that the Unit repeats would've brought. Shark is a procedural and honestly needed that last chance to see what it would do. I think CBS knew what the Unit brought to the table so they just waited. If it doesn't return, then it will truly be a casualty of the strike although it may not have returned either way.

1. This night is a joke overall but the biggest joke is ABC, which should just pull Duel for 2 hour 20/20. Perhaps encores of WMC can air at 8 in the coming weeks.
2. The CW will be in the cellar next year once Smackdown leaves.
3. CBS had a terrible night considering how the competition was downright pathetic. Moonlight doesn't deserve a renewal anymore. CBS can launch 3 new dramas easily and expand comedies by an hour and use Amazing Race in the fall. To fall in the higher HUT levels at 9 against downright pathetic competition is unacceptable. Try for a midseason 13 because that's all the more this show deserves, especially after the oodles of promotion I saw the whole week for it on CBS shows.
4. NBC's chimps are starting to get dumber than ABC's with their over dependence on the likes of Most Outrageous Moments. Why couldn't Las Vegas return for a final 6 eps this spring to take some pressure off the repeats? So dumb...

Friday night is pathetic and that's too bad. I know a lot of people stay in during the winter (when it's cold) on Friday evenings, and good programming is needed.
I don't get it.
Have the networks just written off Friday nights?

I agree. It almost seems like the networks went from 7 nights to 6 nights, and now to 5 nights of programming. CBS seems to be the only one even trying to program on Friday nights.

ABC seems to be on the verge of it. They'll keep 20/20 and just program 2 hours of junk to fill. I don't know why. ABC has a TGIF thing goin again a few years ago but it was poorly managed and they didn't schedule the programs correctly or put the right kinds of shows there for starters. For instance, Less than Perfect and Hot Properties and even Life with Bonnie in many ways weren't Friday programming. Too much work place emphasis and people just don't want that on Fridays. They want family friendly. WMC was a great idea on their part but they failed to properly move Men in Trees and then did the infamous 2 week timeslot bull crap they are known for. Had MIT repeated on Fridays all summer long and launched a week or two before the regular season last year, things could've been different.
NBC had the idea that just because a show's name has Friday in it that people will watch. Sadly the audience who watched were at real football games. Morons.
Fox has made strides with their drama repeats and new Bones on Fridays next year should be a priority move of theirs.

What is DOND?

Yea, I think ML is fated to be canceled eventually, but until the other Networks give it competition, it will survive.
Do you think a pick up of 13 episodes for Moonlight is possible now?

CBS used Price is Right on Fridays this winter. It worked well, but I think its a slippery slope. If they start with Friday reality or gameshows they'll eventually expand it, overkill it, and then just do drama repeats here too. Fridays are on the downhill slide, sadly.

Deal or no Deal.

I'm not sure CBS will waste time with Moonlight. If they do, it will be for 13 I think and at midseason and I can almost guess the timeslot it will air in: Tuesday 10pm for a few weeks before bottoming out and giving the slot up to something else.

That's fine, just try to stay objective. A 13-episodes renewal is likely unless the show last episodes fall below 2.0 demo.

(a few Thursday threads turn into Supernatural discussions even though even less people watch it than ML.)

NBC has turned Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights into a waste land. It seems that all they have programmed is Law & Order, Deal or No Deal, and Medium. That's it.

CBS is the only net trying to revive these waste lands, at least CBS offers original 48 Hours Mystery on Saturday nights.

You are correct. A link to this thread was posted on a few Moonlight fans forums.

I'm a member in all of them (almost) and I can tell you you are WRONG. Once again, dissing fans of a show you don't like. I guess I can start bashing people for watching Lost or AI now, right?

No one is dissing anyone on here. We are all simply annoyed by you crazed fans that come onto the TV Ratings (NOT MOONLIGHT) forum, and say that Moonlight is like a god.

No one dissed anything. People are just stating the facts when it comes to a shows ratings. Get off your high horse or just go away if you have such a problem with people.
