The only difficult part about the Friday night timeslot is getting anyone to watch network TV on Friday night.

Next season, it won't even be tops in its timeslot as NBC is programming Deal or No Deal Fridays at 9.
I think that is just 'bait and switch' on the part of NBC. DoND is too valuable to them to waste on Friday night. They will end up moving it to fill some more valuable nightly hole created by one of the many weak spots in their schedule (my best guess is that they will move it to Thursday 9pm as counter pogramming and move The Office up to 8:30pm).
And now for the PIF Challenge of the week. Google any current TV show and try to find one that doesn't have some sort of fan website or message board.

Just want to clarify some points: it's watched by 3 times more people but the buzz around the show is 3 times less than for Veronica Mars, worldwide nobody knows about this show, it loses viewers from its 8pm lead-in although it has no competition, it skews old so that's a proof this "large fanbase" is just a dream of some people, it brings down CBS's line-up, will never be a hit. So once again it may get renwed only if CBS thinks its fall projects are bad.
I suggest you get on the Moonlight message boards. You'd found countless fans from Brazil, Italy, Australia and even the Middle East (as it airs in that region as well). The show is catching on FAST. Also, have you heard about Alex O'Loughlin becoming the spokeperson for the American Red Cross? You want to know why? Because the fan organized a nation-wide blood drive. It's all over the media. There is also a reason the show is winning every single poll, and that it won the people's choice awards with over 10 million votes.

Your explanation is not valid. You compared GW repeating in its regularly scheduled timeslot with GW repeating in an out of time slot brief appearance.
Validity is crystal clear, because I proved that the 9pm timestlot is particularly detrimental, to the extent that an established show dropped over a million viewers compared to the previous week simply because it moved to 9. I don't know what is it about Fridays at 9, but it is the hour of death. That is why other networks don't like to schedule anything they have high hopes for in that timeslot.
I have a question. Can anybody think of a 9:00 show that has lost viewers from its lead in every single week when the competition is relatively the same at 8:00 and 9:00 ? Except for some instances where a major hit comes on at 9:00 such as AI coming on at 9:00, and then all the other shows go down, I cannot think of one where the competition is relatively the same at 8:00 and 9:00, and the 9:00 show loses viewers from its 8:00 lead in every single week.

What's amazing is that Moonlight does not skew much younger than C2H. BTW C2H's last episodes were close to 11 million so there may be a 3-4 million loss in the next weeks
you can't compare numbers for a show that was on the air a year ago. Every show is down because of itunes, DVDR and such. C2H would have been down to if it was on now. And you know that so stop bickering about this
By the way Moonlight is doing very good considering it was of the air in 3 months. And it only los 1 million viewers from the lead in. Moonlight should definetely be renewed.

If I were CBS, I would be more concerned about year-to-year demo drops by GW (2.6 -> 2.3) and Numb3rs (2.5 -> 2.2) than I would be about Moonlight staying flat year-to-year.
No doubt ML is still a "weak link," but not to the proportions that C2H was a year ago when it was surrounded by a 2.6 and 2.5.

LOL, you should've waited a little more before writing this. C2H averaged 2.4 in demos last season. C2H was the "strong link" last year. In many weeks it was the most watched show of fridays

Friday at 9 is probably the toughest time slot of the week. It has been proven that even GW's repeat at 9 got a much smaller number than when it is repeated at 8. Moonlight is a great show, and it's refreshing to see CBS take a chance, for one, with a genre show. I'm pretty sure CBS will pick it up for another season at the same time. It is a huge success story.
Huge success? Close to Home had better numbers and was cancelled. I expect Moonlight to be too.
You're probably oblivious to the fact Moonlight has a huge fan following, that the cast now appears in various conventions and events all over the place, and between all the buzz and the marketability of the show overseas as well (and it is selling well all over the world), CBS will keep it on the sked. Hey, those suits can smell profits, and I can just see millions of fans worldwide buying Moonlight merchandise. This show ain't going anywhere.
Huge fan following? I never hear anyone talk about this show. Where is it selling well? I'd like to know where you heard this.
It should be renewed and it will be. Otherwise they wouldn't have had the cast at the Paley Event. All the shows that had an evening at that event has been renewed and righthfully so because of the big fan following those shows have like Chuck, Dirty sexy money, Bones, Moonlight.. And of course Buffy was at Paley to so what does that say about the other shows that they have cult-potential like Buffy has.

Dirty Sexy Money????????????? Bones????????. I know Bones does well but come on "big fan following"?

Until very recently, the show didn't even have a network website message board. As a prize, you can collect $1 from every dedicated MNTV viewer. (Hint: dumont is the only one).

The hard part is being able to come up with any shows that meet your criteria that haven't been cancelled.
Moonlight was 3rd over all for the night. It was off the air for 3 almost 4 months and came back with the same avg viewers it had before the hiatus. Also it is slowly shrinking the amount of viewers it is losing from Ghost Whisper. So it is catching on. Bottom line Moonlight deserves a renewal and time to grow.
And for you folks who think ML is not getting any buzz all I have to say is you must be living in a cave. Moonlight is everywhere. If you are not seeing it. You are not looking.
