But why don't you think Moonlight would work on CW? I think it might.

I think they should start out with something fresh, not a leftover.

Well they've tried the "frsh" option for two years. Maybe the "leftover" option would work better.

Some have argued that because GW and NUMB3RS are down that this makes ML's numbers look good enough for renewal.

The tune goes like this - shows A and B are dropping in the direction of show C, thus renew show C.

Actually, an alternative conclusion is that the night needs a new show precisely because GW and NUMB3RS may be in decline apart from an overall ratings decline for the nite in general.

Has it occured to anybody they may want to find a show that could actually outdo both GW and NUMB3RS?

I agree with you on that, but with the departure of Smackdown and the WGA strike shortening the 'fresh' development season, Moonlight would make for a decent stopgap to fill an hour of Friday for a year or two until more 'fresh' CW programming can be developed.

Something like Moonlight makes more sense than just dragging out a Friday Night movie to fill the void.

Marc, I agree that Fridays for all networks need a refresher. How would you jump start CBS Fridays?

Also, have you heard about Alex O'Loughlin becoming the spokeperson for the American Red Cross? You want to know why? Because the fan organized a nation-wide blood drive. It's all over the media.

ANGEL fans did that in 2004. Even Moonlight's "SAVE OUR SHOW" efforts are rip-offs of better shows.

BRUCE is right. CBS would likely try to throw a new series on in an attempt to boost the entire night. Moonlight doesn't do terrible numbers, but when it's sandwiched between two better performing shows that have proven to hold their own and it's pulling lower than each of them it's obviously a weak link for the evening. I'm guessing they'll probably JERICHO it for midseason and try something more compatible out of GW. Probably something more procedural.

CBS has various interesting proceduaral pilots in the works. I bet one of those is prepared for friday nights.

Observations:
1. You'd think May Sweeps would be more extravagant than this. Although there was a strike that held back scripted shows and NBC is ill-prepared for Sweeps.

2. CW tied for third in the demo. Nice going, FOX and ABC. Red Face

3. Is Moonlight compatible with the procedurals? That down and up pattern is not a promising sign.

I completely agree. They have at least four that would work.

What fans of other shows mobilized for charitable causes to save their shows? All Jericho fans did was send useless food items to CBS. Moonlight fans organized a blood drive, which resulted in Alex O'Loughlin becoming the new spokesman for The American Red Cross. And this isn't the first charitable campaign by this fandom.

Jericho wasn't mentioned...and truth be told, Angel fans did have an international blood drive day back in 2004 to save the show. While a heartfelt idea, the Moonlight Red Cross campaign was not a first. Wink

I think the Jericho peanut mail in really hurts Moonlight. I don't think CBS will be persuaded as easily this year to renew a show they want to cancel. They got very little return on their renewal decision change for Jericho.

I will say this...Moonlight did better than I actually thought. But not good enough to be picked up for season two

Moonlight isn't doing well enough for CBS.
Moonlight is a product of Warner Bros. Studios.
CW is losing their entire Friday night lineup (Smackdown!).
CW is owned by CBS and Warner Bros.

So, do you think CW could pick up Moonlight and keep it in that same Friday timeslot with any success? I'm not suggesting it could keep 8 million viewers, but it might retain 3 or 4 million after cost cuts which would be fine for CW Friday prospects.

CW's target audience is the teeny boppers that watch Gossip Girl. Moonlight is much too mature for this drowning network.

But still the president of The CW should consider it! Ostroff is more of a GIRLIE side and doesn't think that men can also watch The CW.

What do ya know, teens like to hang-out so it would be a long time b4 95% of American teens would watch a CW show.
