Moonlight isn't doing well enough for CBS. Moonlight is a product of Warner Bros. Studios. CW is losing their entire Friday night lineup (Smackdown!). CW is owned by CBS and Warner Bros.
So, do you think CW could pick up Moonlight and keep it in that same Friday timeslot with any success? I'm not suggesting it could keep 8 million viewers, but it might retain 3 or 4 million after cost cuts which would be fine for CW Friday prospects.
CW's target audience is the teeny boppers that watch Gossip Girl. Moonlight is much too mature for this drowning network.

Gossip Girl has done sex scenes and drugs, One Tree Hill has had guns rampaging through high school and also having people killed, I doubt Moonlight is anymore "mature." If ML is only suitable to a "mature" audience than what about Angel, Buffy, Smallville, and Supernatural, child's play? I really think you need to do your WB/CW history, it may be targeting only Teens but if you have not known in recent yrs, violence/underage sex/drugs is a theme in every teen drama.

Not to drag this out any further...but the ill-fit with CW has nothing to do with subject matter or voilence & sex. It's the approach to the content that's aiming at a more adult audience. Buffy indeed appealed to all demos, but it still had heavy roots in teen pop culture. Moonlight, on the other hand, is firmly entrenched in mature storylines in a serious setting with little connection to the world of youth. Outside of the attractive cast and the surface theme of vampires, I can't imagine it would overly appeal to teeny boppers any more than Law & Order.
CW (and WB) should love to have a show like Moonlight in it's lineup. CW would love to have more WB-produced shows, period. But one with such a rabid fan base must be something they'd have to go after. It skews older now because it's on Friday nights when young people go out. If CBS gives up on it I don't think WB will let it die. I expect CBS to give it at least a 13 ep renewal however.

Moonlight has a character who sits around playing Guitar Hero on his Nintendo all day. I don't think I've seen that sort of thing on L&O.

What's amazing is that Moonlight does not skew much younger than C2H. BTW C2H's last episodes were close to 11 million so there may be a 3-4 million loss in the next weeks
you have no idea what you are talking about...
if C2H got 3-4 million more viewers yet the demos were the same as moonlight what does that tell you?
answer: it skews much younger...
Id you would've red the thread carefully you would've seen that the demos for those 11 million episodes was 2.6 , so much bigger than what Moolight does.

I admit that Moonlight's poor demo performance would make it undesirable for any night of the week other than Friday, but CW is used to a Friday performer that doesn't fit their demos very well and Moonlight would still fit better than Smackdown. At least, it could serve as a stop gap for another year while CW had time to develop more new shows for the Friday timeslot.

I think that is an excellent idea. I have always thought that the Moonlight fanatical crowd on the internet is a bunch of young girls who are in love with Alex O'Loughlin, so the CW would be a perfect place for it.

Your only problem is that most female fans of the show are women over 30, many even MUCH older than that. All you had to do to know is go on all the message boards and Moonlight-related events. They are female dominated, but by the mothers of the CW teeny boppers!

And you know why that appeals to the fans? because it reminds them of their teenage kids!
Anyways, I also believe Moonlight should move to The CW because a bunch of people only watch the show because they say the main guy is hot. Well, doesnt that fit with The CW's target?

I definetely don't watch it because of the lead. I am a guy and many of my friends watch it to. I watch it for the vampire action and of course Sophia Myles is just a vision. I have always liked vampire shows i even love vampire movies. Buffy and Angel is in my opinion 2 of the best shows created. Moonlight is a great show with a lot of vampire fightscenes
