-Friday’s Winners: Nothing; not a single series cracked 10 million viewers, and the highest rated among adults 18-49 was CBS’ Ghost Whisperer at a 2.3 rating/ 9 nine in the demo.
-Ratings Breakdown: CBS won this first Friday of the May 2008 sweeps, with a non-spectacular first-place finish in every half-hour care of Ghost Whisperer (Viewers: 9.00 million; A18-49: 2.3 rating/9 share), Moonlight (Viewers: 7.99 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 6) and Numb3rs (Viewers: 9.61 million; A18-49: 2.2/ 7). Comparably, however, Moonlight versus older skewing year-ago occupant Close to Home (Viewers: 9.16 million; A18-49: 2.1/ 7 on April 27, 2007) was only equal among adults 18-49 (and down by 1.17 million total viewers).
Note: Despite airing in the May sweeps, 27 percent of last night’s schedule was repeats and 62 percent non-scripted programming.
NBC finished a distant second with its combination of a one-hour repeat of Most Outrageous Moments (Viewers: #3, 3.96 million; A18-49: #5, 0.9/ 3 from 8-9 p.m.) and a two-hour edition of Dateline (Viewers: 6.69 million; A18-49: 1.9/ 6 from 9-11 p.m.).
ABC was third overall in total viewers, but fifth among adults 18-49 care of a repeat of America’s Funniest Home Videos (Viewers: #2, 5.02 million; A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 5), waiting-to-be canceled game show Duel (Viewers: #5, 3.73 million; A18-49: #5, 1.0/ 3), and 20/20 (Viewers: #3, 4.98 million; A18-49: #3, 1.6/ 5). Without the benefit of a decent lead-in, 20/20 is floundering.
The CW’s departing Friday Night Smackdown! was on the map, with 4.21 million viewers (#4) and a third-place 1.3/ 4 among adults 18-49 (tied with Fox). And repeat theatrical 13 Going on 30 on Fox scored a minimal 3.80 million viewers (#5) and a 1.3/ 4 in the demo (#3t). The sad reality of Friday remains declining HUT levels, a reflection of programming viewers are not interested in watching.
Excellent numbers for a great installment! Unlike other shows, Moonlight has not suffered a major drop in viewership and managed to hold its own. No doubt this will bring to the show's renewal.
Next season, CBS has to try a new show Friday at 9. They are just wasting the advantage they have with Moonlight. It is continually pulling down the schedule and forcing Numbers to pick it up again.
Why is Most Out. Moments not showing new episodes? It would probably bring better ratings in then repeats.
Most Outrageous Moments has new episodes airing as of last Tuesday, and will air more new ones in the Tuesday slot for a few weeks.
NBC should move those to Fridays, though. And just air the rerun on Tuesdays.
Move the Most Outrageous Moments NEW episodes to Fridays, then dump it completely on Tuesdays, and just put a repeat of Law and Order or something. It would bring better ratings overall IMO.

Friday at 9 is probably the toughest time slot of the week. It has been proven that even GW's repeat at 9 got a much smaller number than when it is repeated at 8. I don't think CBS will renew Moonlight with these numbers. But if they do it they'll have to find another time slot beacause its' clearly the weak link of their friday schedule.
What's amazing is that Moonlight does not skew much younger than C2H. BTW C2H's last episodes were close to 11 million so there may be a 3-4 million loss in the next weeks

You're probably oblivious to the fact Moonlight has a huge fan following, that the cast now appears in various conventions and events all over the place, and between all the buzz and the marketability of the show overseas as well (and it is selling well all over the world), CBS will keep it on the sked. Hey, those suits can smell profits, and I can just see millions of fans worldwide buying Moonlight merchandise. This show ain't going anywhere.
Last night's Moonlight was the best of the season. In a season where I stopped watching 4 or 5 shows, it's the one show I eagerly look forward to. I really hope it gets renewed.
