Even with the times being off-the-clock, I think Million Dollar Password is doing pretty well (at least in total viewers), not so much in the demo, but still good. I wonder if it'll do any better in January.
The Unit did really bad, even for a repeat - I still don't see what CBS saw in this show to bring it back this season. There's no way it'll be back next season.
I think every network has their own version of NBC & 30 Rock.
ABC has According to Jim CBS has The Unit and FOX has Til Death

Very true - but The Unit is CBS's weakest drama by far. I'd be terrified to see what it would get without Cold Case for support.
Comparing 30 Rock to According to Jim in ANYWAY is like comparing hot apple pie to a cow turd. And in making this statement I apologize to cow turds everywhere for equating them with According to Jim.

The Sound of Music was a disappointment in the ratings. Overall, ratings were low and they would have done just as well repeating their regular Sunday lineup.
MDP has been lackluster for CBS. Even with the football overrun, it can't get past a 2.0 demo. Being the only original show at 8 PM and with the football overrun, it should have done better. CC/The Unit repeats weren't much better.
FOX animation was low in viewers and only decent in demos (Family Guy being the brighest spot).
Football did well for NBC.
Jericho repeats are now under 1 million for CW and movie repeats aren't doing much better.

True - MDP can bring in the viewers, but unfortauntely, they're all over the age of 50-LOL. It would make a perfect Saturday show, though. IMO, once it's done on Sundays, CBS needs to move it to Saturdays and pair it up with Gameshow in my Head.
I agree. A game show block of GSIMH and MDP would be a good move for CBS Saturdays.

I think CBS keeps The Unit around because it represents a small segment of society...the military families. Unfortunately, not everyone cares about that. Why they moved it out of the the Tuesday night block, with NCIS, I will never know. I do think the show lost some of its rawness this past season with the loss of Eric Haney.

I know people like to harp on "Million Dollar Password" for its lack of strength in the young adult demographic, but this is not the first go-around for "Password" - having previously aired in the summer - so I wouldn't imagine that CBS was expecting "Password" to set any sort of records among that demographic.
"Password" is likely doing exactly what the network is hoping it can do: keep its Sunday time slot warm until the February 2009 return of "Amazing Race".
Perhaps someone better versed in TV/demographic history can correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't game shows traditionally older skewing as a genre? Remember, we are talking about "Password", a game show that has been around in various formats/titles (i.e. "Password Plus", "Super Password", and now "Million Dollar Password"), and networks (CBS, ABC, NBC) on-and-off since 1961. It is one thing to bemoan a series' performance among a certain segment of the viewing population, but we must also keep a series' performance in realistic terms.
As for other developments in last nights ratings:
NBC better enjoy those numbers for the Denver Broncos/San Diego Chargers season finale of "Sunday Night Football". The network probably won't see viewers approaching 13 million (like at the 9:00 p.m. half hour) on a Sunday night until the NFL season starts back up again next September.
Nothing special with ABC, as mentioned, the network could have gotten similar numbers with its regular line-up in rerun mode.
Fox's "Family Guy" eclipsed "The Simpsons" in both total viewers and young viewers as "Guy" seems to be replacing "Simpsons" among popular culture as well. Given its cancellation from the net, I wonder how serious ABC is about picking up "King of the Hill", and possibly pairing it with "King" creator Mike Judge's latest animated offering next season?
While the numbers for the CW remain low, compared to what they replaced, "Revenge of the Pink Panther" scored a home run. Of course, a home run in a little league game as opposed to the World Series, but a home run nonetheless.
I'm not as concerned about The Unit's ratings last night as some of you. The show is simply the poorest repeat performer on CBS' schedule, but it has also proven to have a fairly loyal audience as its original episodes have drawn a fairly similar audience whether they've aired on Tuesday against House and DWTS or on Sunday against SNF and B&S.
That being said, the show was on the bubble last season, and the only reasons CBS renewed it was because of the limited pilot development after the strike and James Woods so desperately wanting out of his Shark commitment. Otherwise, CBS would have renewed Shark and canned The Unit. So, its performance at midseason without the SNF competition is crucial to its future. What CBS should do is give it a special showing after the primetime AFC Championship Game. If it works, great, but if doesn't, oh well, CBS has an opening for one of its new dramas next fall.

Right. A show that has a continous storyline and isn't always wrapped up in 60 min's. Why would it do well on CBS? AKA the lack of attention span network
