That would be a great idea. I wish the networks would start programming again.

I mean more people are home on saturdays. I am 15 and i am home on saturdays. I Tvo my friday shows to hang with friends. But most kids don't hang out on saturday.

If the net works take a chance and put scripted shows on saturdays people will watch. At first they will be spending more than they are making, but it will soon pay off.

I think it would be cool if the networks used this night to make a return in multi-camera comedys.

FOX Foremost in A18-49 With a 4.72 After Six Nights of Week 16

After six nights of Week 16, FOX has an insurmountable lead over the other nets in A18-49 with a hefty 4.72 average, while CBS is in second with a 2.55, ABC third with 2.48, NBC fourth with 2.32, Univision fifth with 1.65, The CW is sixth with a .90, while MyNetworkTV trails with 0.48 in A18-49.

In viewers, FOX is leading with an average of 13,262,000 viewers, while CBS is second, ABC third, NBC fourth, Univision fifth, The CW sixth and MyNetworkTV seventh.

With The CW back in originals for their series, I am forecasting that they will narrowly regain sixth place after MyNetworkTV held sixth place for six straight weeks, but the race will be a tight one: The CW should finish up with a 0.8 A18-49 and 1.9 million viewers, while MyNetworkTV is expected to be close behind with a 0.6 A18-49 and 1.8 million viewers.

The football lead in helped with the 8:00 ratings, but 8:30 despite the drop, was still strong by Saturday standards. 1.9 demo is very good for Saturdays.

I think the numbers went up this week thanks to the football game that ended before 7:30. However, if the numbers can stay above a 2.0 demo, I'm sure CBS will keep it as a Saturday option next year.
Marc, do you have the numbers for each episode?

As much as I like the show, this proves the football game helped the ratings. Next time it doesnt have football as a lead in, the numbers will go back down to 3 million.

Once again the NFL continues to prove week in and week out why its the #1 entertainment platform in America. Even a blowout that wasn't interesting all the way through crossed 21 million viewers. I've got a feeling the game started out over 25 million viewers, but the blowout got the number down some. FOX should've switched that game with the Giants/Eagles, but some of the other casual NFL fans will watch it on Sunday more than Saturday.

The NFL is a weird sport, but that's why everybody loves to watch it more than any other sport because any team can win on any given day.

Once again congrads to Joe Cool (Ravens QB Joe Flacco) and everybody in the beltway on a great win. I've got a feeling this was the game that scored over 30 million viewers towards 40 million viewers in finals for its peak. Great game!

CBS' Game Show in My Head did what I thought it would do. Its similar to Howie Do It and so far I'm enjoying both shows. GSIMH got a much deserved push from the NFL post-game show and did very well in the demos. It got a very good holdover rating at 8:30pm and without the competition next week it may stay around 4-5 million viewers. CBS has to keep this show around permanently through next season and schedule Million Dollar Password. This is how CBS should schedule Saturdays:

CBS SAT 1
8-Million Dollar Password
9-Game Show in My Head
10-48 Hours Mystery

Note: I think GSIMH needs the lead-in before performing on a weekly basis on its own. Doesn't have enough casual eyes yet.

CBS SAT 2
8-Million Dollar Password/Game Show in My Head
9-Cold Case/Without a Trace
10-48 Hours Mystery

Either way it goes CBS can do no wrong scheduling Saturdays full of originals for now on. Howie and GSIMH are surprisingly good reality options for weekend programming.

ABC was dead!

NBC could be doing better and this is another network that should go in the direction of scheduling originals on Saturday Nights. They should move Dateline over to Saturdays and get another original script, which could be a new procedural or multi-cam comedy. Like I said before NBC needs some new watchable multi-cam comedies, new medical drama, and 3 procedurals surrounded around Kings and Police for success entering the new decade.

Even though I'd like to see comedies and scripted shows on Saturdays, I doubt networks are willing to take that step. I'd be happy if networks decided to program original unscripted material on Saturday. There is potential there beyond repeats that networks aren't utilizing.

I agree with both of you guys, people have their different nights of hanging out. The only reason why Fridays and Saturdays are popular for social evenings is because people don't have time during the week. Me my week is free most of the time so it doesn't matter. I would rather just hang out in the studio with my buddies and watch TV like I did last night.

I think ABC should think about moving some of their unscripted programming to Saturdays since they got a 2.3 in the demo out of their reality repeats.

Like I said before if iCarly can get 6-8 million viewers over on Nick so can the broadcast networks if they schedule shows like that.

Sure the viewership is good for iCarly, but Marc posted the demos yesterday or Friday, and the demo was like a 0.4 or something. That is the reason those programs stay on Nick and Disney Channel.

I agree. I just hope the other networks fallow what CBS is doing.

This is why CBS is the most watched network. They take chances, make mistakes and get messy.

That drop at 8:30 to me is a fairly telling sign that the show wasn't all that hot, but since football was on, I'll withhold my judgment until next week. I do think it could become the younger skewing alternative on a Saturday that CBS is looking for. At the very least, it did about double in the demo what CBS usually gets at 8pm Saturday.

This wasn't them taking a chance. They really couldn't do much worse demographically on Saturday than what they were doing and this show got some bad reviews and so I think its really just burn off, but if it hits, CBS may bring it back. CBS doesn't take chances very often. Their audience is afraid of change and different. Its why their lineup is the same Tuesday-Sunday from 9 to 11pm.
