So less than five million people bothered to watch the UNUSUALS?
What was up with the ABC programming department to greenlight a string of shows like UNUSUALS, CASTLE ect...they really don't seem have to have a handle on what viewers enjoy.
Perhaps next season they'll get some good dramas. FLASH FORWARD sounds ineresting.
Scrubs, naturally increased for its finale. I really argue its not worth their time with a new season though. There's certainly enough episodes for syndication already. Let the show end with its original cast. Its not ER. ABC can surely get a 2.0 demo comedy if they promote a new "funny" comedy enough this summer. I would consider Better off Ted though for another season. It certainly is funnier than a lot of stuff I've seen on ABC in a long time. I know they have some new single cam comedies they could pair it with this fall. Perhaps the Law starring Cedric the Entertainer and Donald Faison (who I've always considered the actual funny character) from Scrubs.
Didn't Rules of Engagement air on Wednesday at 8pm, with Old Christine at 8:30? I thought that's what was going to happen because of the Obama preemption, but I didn't watch either this week, as I was out.
Those are low numbers for the sitcoms though. Granted, some viewers may have watched the Scrubs finale instead, or they may have been down because its May. Lost was also down. These are no longer winning performances for Lost, IMO. This show is long past its prime, and ABC should be lucky next season will be its last. The Unusuals is just a disaster. While a good show, it won't get another season.
Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, and Law & Order all did good, though. Lie to Me was also up this week for some reason. Nice performances for all 4 shows!
So, yes. Lost is no longer getting the ratings it got in the first 3 seasons, thats for sure. Even putting in account that the general viewership has gone down nicely, Lost has went down considerably more - due to the fact that the writers stated that nwo that they have an end date, they dont care for causal viewers.
however, are you... HIGH?
Lost got 4.0 in the key demo, which is higher than CSI:NY, L&O and Criminal Minds....or, scratch that. It was higher than ANY show of the night, apart from AI.
And it's, like, ABC's 3rd highest rated scripted show. ABC should be lucky that its gone? LOL? Yeah, I'd like to see the next serialized show that gets 4.0 in it's 5th season...
especially on ABC...
oh and against American Idol.
With some really bad lead in.
Seriously, bring it on.

Lost should no longer be considered for "hit status." The demo remains strong, but under 9 million viewers? 3rd highest rated show? Let's count the shows that can outrate it in viewers - Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, Private Practice, Dancing with the Stars, and even Castle on some occasions. Even against Idol, viewers should be watching, and the fact is, they're just not watching Lost anymore.
ABC should be lucky to have it gone next season because it would only continue to drop if next season wasn't the last. Since next season will be the last, we'll probably see ABC give it a nice timeslot with a big ratings uptick, especially near the final episodes.
Demos vs. year-ago evening (FINALS vs. FINALS) Criminal Minds +6% CSI: NY even American Idol +1% Law & Order -21% ANTM -15%
Scrubs vs. year-ago Wife Swap -16% Lost vs. year-ago Supernanny +111% Unusuals vs. year-ago Barbara Walters' Journey -20% Christine/Gary vs. year-ago Price is Right +11% Lie to Me vs. year-ago 'Til Death/Back to You +35%
Some other comparisons from the second week of sweeps:
(Wednesday Lost vs. year-ago Thursday Lost) -15% (Friday Wife Swap vs. year-ago Wednesday Wife Swap) -44% (Friday Supernanny vs. year-ago Wednesday Supernanny) -21% (Tuesday Without a Trace vs. year-ago Thursday WAT) -21% (Thursday Bones vs. year-ago Monday Bones) -15% (Thursday Hell's Kitchen vs. year-ago Tuesday Hell's Kitchen) -46%

Again, total viewers doesn't matter. Why is that so hard to understand? Lost is still a big demo hit, as is the Office. No, its not a mass appeal hit, but aside from a few episodes one season, it never really was. Besides, ABC has set the end date. The viewers numbers virtually don't matter for the show anymore. The episodes are going to air regardless. This is why ABC set the finale date.

I think when DVR and online views are added up, Lost is a lot closer to its previous viewer totals than people think.

I'm starting to have more doubts about the Nielsons rating. I really think Nielson's counting is not accurate and misses the real numbers.
AS for LOST, it was getting around 11-12 million viewers before it went up against AI. Remember, SOME of AI viewers or DEMOS overlap with LOST: meaning you probably have a good percentage of AI viewers that watch lost also. When LOST went up against AI, the ratings dropped from a 6.4-6.5 to 5.3-5.5 rating and to over 9 million viewers. But, you keep missing the point. Which other show will have such a strong DEMO against AI? Plus, ABC's doesn't have a strong programing on Wednesday to help LOST. Plus, You have this daylight saving thing that affects all shows.
Old Christine - 6.454 million viewers - 4.4/8 HH - 1.9/6 A18-49
Gary Unmarried - 6.664 million viewers - 4.3/7 HH - 2.0/6 A18-49
Hey, mushu_jj I thought all the 8:00 sitcoms were getting more viewers than the 8:30 sitcoms ? I think Parks and Recreation got more than Earl, too. I guess Gary Unmarried must be some powerhouse. Too bad it is probably going to be canceled. To explain it to you, CBS knows that Christine is stronger and that is why it is in the lower rated and tougher 8:00 time slot. The strongest sitcoms always go in the tougher 8:00 or 9:00 time slots.
