Good thing I opted for Glee tonight then, which was meanwhile a great episode. Some great comedic moments mixed in tonight. IMO, one of the best (and funniest) of the series. I also gotta give props to Old Christine tonight - for having a very low key storyline with Christine dating Dave Foley's character, it was a good episode, while adding a big storyline twist at the end (I don't wanna give it away!). Hopefully up against a Modern Family repeat it did okay.
You only watch one or the other? So it ain't so!
No, usually I opt to watch the ABC comedies, then watch Glee sometime online. But Glee has been excellent lately, and now I'm probably going to watch the ABC comedies online and watch Glee live. Modern Family/Cougar Town have really been losing me lately, though. The Middle, meanwhile, is turning out to be my favorite of the block - what a great little show that has turned out to be.
As long as you aren't missing out on anything! You're right, Glee pulled out a great episode this week!
Amazing but true--when Patrick McGoohan was making The Prisoner, his backers wanted him to make MORE episodes. He didn't want to--he only had so many stories he wanted to tell about this character, and he didn't want to water it down, and get mired in formula & repetition. So he compromised and shot a few extra episodes, but not nearly as many as they wanted.
The Prisoner is what television could have been.
THIS Prisoner is what television has mainly become.

Invasion launched very well out of Lost and held decent numbers for awhile before too many viewers grew restless with the pace of the story. Since Surface and Threshold premiered in the same year, with Surface muddling along and T-hold bombing, I think some credit has to be given to Lost for helping Invasion.
The 4th season of Alias, which was widely viewed as a mediocre season for the series, got a short term boost from Lost, although eventually the delivered viewers figured out they didn't want to watch Alias.
As time has gone on and the Lost audience has winnowed down, I think it's in less of a position to be a lead in, and not because there are fewer viewers. There is increasingly less general casual audience in the mix and what you've got left are hard cores who probably couldn't care less what comes on after.
They could pair V after Lost, but with V I think the best thing they could do is air it in the highest profile time period they can find and yet avoid major competition.

Sorry but I also have to disagree with the pairing of Lost and V. I don't think it's a good idea based on their previous history. ABC tried a sci fi night with Lost and Life On Mars. The idea was that two male skewing sci fi like shows would work well together. Unfortunately, the flow never happened and I don't think ABC would like to try that again. I think that V and Lost need to be on two seperate nights.
The best idea in my opinion is Lost Wednesdays at 10 PM. It fills up a spot that is weak and will be a good end cap to the night. It also could bring some attention back to the comedies before it. With V, I would move it to Tuesdays at 9 PM once Idol cuts down to an hour in March (around top 10 when it goes to one hour). I would have Dancing with the Stars Tuesdays at 8 PM (I don't think there will be much of a cross between the two audiences) and Happy Town would replace The Forgotten at 10 PM. Before The Olympics I'd run Wife Swap or True Beauty or comedy repeats/Better Off Ted/Scrubs and The Forgotten. I think relaunching the night in March makes more sense since there is a break for The Olympics and it ends up being only about four weeks of programming.

I liked Ally McBeal well enough at the beginning, sadly the after a few years I started hating Ally/Calista but still loved all of the supporting characters/actors.
I hope this is just a rumor or The CW is going for the feel of the show, the quirky/outragous dramady without actually being bringing back Ally McBeal.
I think The CW needs to stop poching FOX's old hits and try to find something new and interesting.
TV-Aholic - I like your idea about a werewolf teen drama based on the Twilight series..you never get good stories revolving around werewolves.

Please, no. The CW has gone WAYYYYYY too far this time. You cannot just revive a show like Ally McBeal. NO ONE could EVER play the role like Calista Flockheart did. Ever. If The CW were to ever revive a show like Ally, and cast someone like Hilary Duff in the role, that would truly be the nail in the coffin for The CW.

90210 and Melrose Place are utter failures. Why doesn't Dawn Ostroff realize this? Remaking a show like Ally McBeal would be by far their biggest mistake - you can't just make another Ally McBeal. It isn't that easy.
I agree - season 1 of the show was fantastic, especially the latter half, some of the best television I've ever watched, while seasons 2 and 3 and especially season 4 were also fantastic. Season 5 I didn't care for much, with all the late unnecessary additions to the show, and the fact that Ally almost took a backseat role by then. But, even the worst episodes of Ally McBeal couldn't match up to the best episodes of a remake.
Can CW really thrive by going from the "WB Leftovers" network to the "Remakes of 90's FOX dramas" network?
Vampire Diaries is anything but original (or good), and is in many ways an uncredited TV adaptation of Twilight--but at least it's not based on a previous TV show. And it's the closest thing to a hit they've ever had.
So while I don't believe CW will ever produce a good show, they could avoid a lot of flops by staying the hell away from remakes.
