What follows is the fast affiliate rating results for Tuesday, November 17, 2009 in the order of total viewers and adults 18-49 by network and by half hour per program (in the order of ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox). Due to a time restraint, I will let you come up with your own analysis.
V is really struggling. It shouldn't have dropped this fast. If the interest is diminished now, I'm not sure what audience is going to show up after a long hiatus. And it definately should not be programmed Tuesdays at 8 PM against Idol. That would just kill it.
Heather Locklear didn't do much to increase MP's ratings. I'm not sure anything can be done to save it.
TBL had a runover of slightly more than 1 minute according to what was recorded on my DVR, so Leno's first half hour will fall slightly in finals. The eliminated contestant was popular and the promos mentioned how there was a romance to announce during his interview, so that probably got some TBL viewers (like my household) to watch Leno again.
NCIS rules the roost as usual although the NCIS LA ratings are a concern but it will be interesting how it does without DWTS against it. Merry Madasgascar did alright but they really should have saved for Christmas, Melrose Place got a bump but the show is dead and I think if Life UneXpected does well then I can see Gossip Girl being moved to Tuesdays.
The Good Wife is pulling a solid audience with minimal decline in the second half hour, maybe its chances for a second season just got higher.
I don't think V dead just yet. If it can hold in the 9Mil range next week, and ABC keeps it on everyone’s radar for its return in the spring, I could see people giving it a second chance. There also is a lot of time to push the 4 eps to gain the intrest.
I agree they they need to move it away from American Idol.
V has to stabalize next week. Last night's episode was much better than the previous week. The kid's storyline is just awful and it pisses me off that he going to be even more deeply involded. ABC should create a V, LOST, FlashForward three hour scifi block in the spring. Right now these shows are dispersed all over the schedule and it makes sense to make them air together.
Does anyone have ratings for Monday's Prisoner episodes? The other 2 nights were not as strong as the opening night quality wise for the Prisoner but it was still an excellent miniseries overall, very Richard Kelly esque. The answers for the most part made sense which I heard was not the case with the original. I will for-sure by the DVD when it comes out. I don't know what the critics were talking about when they panned this show, sure it got bogged down in the middle but still it was very engaging. Hopefully this will encourage networks to make more miniseries.
Ouch for V. Shame it's dropping so fast, I like it. Hopefully, this could be good in that it could be a one season show that doesn't drag on too long. But both of ABC's big dogs seem to have caved in pretty fast. Not good.
And so much for HL's return to MP saving it. Apparently, it didn't do a blessed thing.
As for The Forgotten, looks like it won't be long before it joins Hank/Eastwick.
Well, if the trend continues, it will drop just under 9 million and about a 2.9 demo for episode #4.
I have yet to view the latest episode, but if it continues the storyline I think it will be a one season & done series.
For me, this V is a simple REMAKE, unlike BattleStar was a complete reimaging. V needed that Reimaging to be successful.
