Solid Numbers for Knight Rider, but people only watched it because they were curious. If it will be a regular series next season it will be cancelled within the first 13 Episodes. The Animated Shows on Fox are all below their average. I Think NBC took some of the Simpsons/FG/AD viewers. B&S clearly needs Desperate Housewives. It hardly pulls a 3.0 without it. Dexter did pretty well considering it's Lead-In. It even beat Cold Case in the demo.
Well, I liked the show. I thought that it had a lot to work with. The lead character should not take himself so seriously and be more fun/goofy (like the Hoff) and the weasily guy should get dropped from the show (no redeeming qualities). Fortunately, this show did not start out superstrong like DH and Lost. Everyone loved the shows but jumped on the i-hate-DH or Lost since it sucks now bandwagon. So, it has no where to go but up.
Also, we forget the Nielsen families, not many of us, are the most important factor in determining whether a show is going to be a success or not. Sometimes, I wonder why they don't just market directly to Nielsen families..."Hey Nielsen families, we are premiering a new show coming on Sundays. Please watch." So, shows like NCIS, JAG, Idol (these days) which seems to be watched by this invisible large audience is probably just the Nielsen families flexing their collective muscle over all of us web posters.
Well last night's number about made me throw up on many levels. First was the collapse of Brothers and Sisters most likely thanks to the wonderful programming chimps at ABC. Second, was the fact that the same thing happened to the Fox animated comedies. The strike has certainly left an effect. The CW's sitcoms could be in for a long struggle on Sunday nights. Perhaps a bit of promotion elsewhere would help. I do think Top Model encores are a better lead in for them too. Knight Rider: what can I say. People watch junk. I'm guessing the series will still flop heavily next fall.
I agree Marc. I do think this season will have plenty of drama though.

In that case, how come it built every half hour?
It could be that people knew The Hoff would show up in the latter half, so they tuned in to see if or when it would happen.
Me, I liked Knight Rider. I loved the original as a kid, and this seems to be consistent with the level of "good-bad"... it's not genius, but it's many levels ahead of Bionic Woman in that there are characters that one could actually care about.
I don't really like the female lead character, though she may grow on me - I always preferred the concept of "one man and his car" with the supporting cast being periphery. I liked the car a lot more than I expected to. At the end of the movie, I left wanting to see more, which I think is exactly the reaction NBC wants from their 2-hour long car commercial.
Not gonna happen. Running EMHE for 2 hours every week will only hurt it in the long run. Housewives will keep it's time slot. No question about it. Abc is not going to roll the dice with their #1 show.
