It would be really nice if these two show did do well and CBS decided to ad a 4th hour of comedy on the night.
You could place BBT & HIMYM on Thursdays. Bring in Rules... & Secret Public Journal from Mondays at 8pm. Then Move Survivor to the troubled time slot of Wednesdays at 8pm or, if Christine & Gary are doing OK, make room for Survivor on Sundays at 8pm, followed by Amazing Race at 9pm.

It looks like CBS is giving these two that 8:00 Thursday time slot, at least for a time, which may help them get sampled by some people who do not watch them on Monday, but have time on Thursday.
Well, it may and it may not. Back to You is not a family show like American Idol. I doubt parents would sit through "Chuck and Kelly doin' it again" with their kids. Last night's episode was quite funny but it was more suitable to air at 9 or 9: 30.
Oh, I've never seen it. But I really don't want to think about Kelsey Grammer doin' it. Eww ... image, get out of my head!

Why would CBS want to significantly lower their Thursday ratings? Thursday is their most important night.

Looks like you're right

According to Nielsen, the largest viewing audience for all of those teens and 20-somethings on American Idol this season has been over 35.
In an “all things Idol” release issued Thursday in advance of next week’s final, Nielsen said 29% of the audience is in the 35-49 demo and another 23% in the 50-64 category. And there were more viewers over 65 (11%) than in the 18-24 demo from which most of the contestants come (7%)
The most-watched episode of the show was the first episode, Nielsen said, with 33 million viewers Jan. 15.
And confirming the text and phone votes of Idol fans, the two contestants who have generated the greatest online buzz are the two Davids, finalists Cook and Archuleta, who claimed 14.3% and 12.5% of the online "buzz," respectively (Nielsen said that comes from monitoring about 70 million blogs).

Well, I am saying IF they do well. And "Well" would need to be about 10-11 million and a 4 demo average for the hour. But a move of Survivor 18 to Sundays would really help out that night
It may be hard to figure that out during the summer with repeat trials.

Didn't Fox do this with House leading into Standoff in '06? That didn't work very well...
Yeah, but that was huge mistake given the low quality of Standoff. They should've used House to launch Justice, which was more compatible.
I think that with all the buzz Fringe will be OK on its own. At least for the first episodes. Beacause if the show is bad nobody can save it.
By the way, i think that over-buzzing this show it's a mistake, people will ask a lot from the show and the risk of disappointment is huge. Also the fact that it's compared with X-Files it's a bad thing for the show itself. I'm having a lot of doubts about the casting also.

So true, but I still enjoyed ogling Rosemarie DeWitt.

But wouldn't have done much better than Standoff.

Hey, can I quote you on that?

I have watched both Felicity and Alias. There is absolutely no risk of disappointment here. I know how JJ works. Good start, muddled middle, disastrous finish. As I've mentioned before, he promises the moon, then shows you his ass.

Particularly after that new X-Files movie comes out. Seen the trailer yet? Hoo-BOY is that gonna suck. The Truth is outta there.
Were is everyone today? Just 1 post in the 90 minutes since my last post? It almost feels like a sunday Afternoon, after Marc posts the Saturday numbers.
There really isn't much to post about. Series are ending the season and the new ones are either in development or just announced.

FOX would make a mistake to move House around like that. They should plan their schedule around AI and House, not around AI and Fringe.

Great analogy.
I can already predict that the first season will be intriguing, then the show will run out of ideas mid-2nd season, and become unwatchable by season 4.
