yea.... its too bad it wasn't Sarah that was shot by the under-sherrif instead.

Just getting Marc to stop writing that it should have ended years ago to save its dignity is enough of a win.
Well, ER should have ended about 3 years ago.
If I were CBS or ABC, I'd be talking with the producers about keeping it running. How many shows TODAY can deliver a 4.0 rating 18-49 adults? Not many. ER's death has been greatly exaggerated from a ratings standpoint - and honestly I feel the last few years have been the best. The show has improved so much since the egos exited the cast (Clooney, Edwards, Stringfield, Wyle). We've been able to focus on just regular characters and people.
Well, as I pointed out before, this 4.0 rating by ER is out of the norm for its ratings over the past year. Its usually in the low 3's for its demo numbers.
Lets see if it can consistantly pull that numbers, especially once SNL is no longer its leadin and it has 30 Rock again.
I predict CSI to be above 20 million again next week, maybe around 21 million. Sara has another episode before she leaves again, and her storyline seems to have people hooked since last year's premiere. After next week, though, I agree that it will drop below 20 million, closer to 19. And I also agree that CSI is strong because it combines personal stuff with the procedural stuff in a very subtle way. It hooks people because the character's lives are a part of the mystery of the show. Personal drama involving their favorite character keeps fans coming back. After 8 years, fans have become very attached to these characters; and whether you think it is soap-operish or not, the Grissom/Sara storyline sells. With 3 main characters gone the show will suffer, but will still be a hit, I think. Or, it may turn into another ER if Lawrence Fisburne doesn't deliver.
Agreed on pretty well all counts. While I know there are fans who don't like the Grissom/Sara storyline, the fact is that ratings do spike when they promo it, and the personal relationships and the characters on the show are the reasons that the original CSI is still number one. If people just wanted to see crimes being solved, all three CSIs and Without a Trace and Crossing Jordan (is that show over?) and Criminal Minds and every other crappy forensics show would have just as many viewers, especially since all of them are younger.
