I don't have the 1/2 hour breakdowns, but I'd imagine that Brothers is #3 in viewers unless there was a fairly large drop @ the half for FlashForward.
It was getting kind of hard to read.
Tvbythenumbers has FF at 3 million, not 2.

True. L&O does have a dedicated core audience. It seems to just take them a few weeks to find it when it switches time slots.

Nice to see Law and Order stay stable in viewership, but build 0.3 demo points from last week. If NBC can stay patient all season, I'm guessing Law and Order could build even more. It already appears that it may have put a dent in Ghost Whisperer.
Ah....so the OTHER part of the numbers were wrong then....

If they ran promos for L&O, the audience would have found it faster. NBC kind of just left it there for the audience to find.

It's kind of like Law and Order: SVU. It's audience seems to increase just a bit each week.

Fourth in both categories was Fox’s failing combination of Brothers (Viewers: #4, 2.35 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.8/ 3), unnecessary returnee ‘Til Death (Viewers: #4, 2.36 million; A18-49: #4, 0.8/ 3) and sophomore fizzle Dollhouse (Viewers: #4, 2.25 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3).
FOX is basically getting 'Til Death for free, right? Why not just run 4 episodes on Fridays to try and get rid of them? Move Brothers to Sundays @ 7pm and cancel Dollhouse, or put it on hiatus until 'Til Death is done with all of its episodes. The whole lineup is the same, so why not get the same results for free?

NBC is in a weak position to move shows around. Their base aud is small and fragmented among numerous genres. Heroes, TBL, SVU, The Office, NFL, enough said.
The L&O's will improve as the year goes on.

Fox should seriously consider airing originals of the comedies on Sundays at 7pm, or perhaps doing repeats of all three programs (Dollhouse, 'Til Death, and they already did Brothers) to see which one will do better in that time period and then air originals for the one that does the best there.
My guess is the comedies will do better, so they'll move those, and then burn off Fringe on Fridays at 8pm with Dollhouse, no matter how much I love Dollhouse /:
That's, of course, assuming they do any of this.

CW needs to find their own brand and let go of the WB/UPN. They need to launch a variety of different kinds of shows. They need something new. Nobody is watching a network that is full of shows that are a half decade old or older and the rest of the shows that are about spoiled rich brats. Hello! How many times can we all say it before they will listen???
Don't you think that they should find their new "brand shows" first and then let go of established players? Look at what happened to their Fridays after they got rid of wrestling because it "didn't fit their brand." They have enough open places to fill already - the season barely began and they already air repeats in two time slots - without canceling four shows that actually delivery some viewers.
They could midseason one of the aging shows, but I think they need to start next season out with several new shows. There is not enough room on their measley 10 hour a week schedule to find any new content if the aging material is filling it up. They need to let go, branch out creatively, and brand!
As I said, they already have two slots open - if they actually let go of ANTM's repeats which are rather silly. Only miracle can save MP from cancellation - miracle or Heather Locklear - but I think it'll be this year's Privilege. Only God knows if Life Unexpected will work. So they could go with three-four new shows - instead of the reality shows they ordered for mid-season (flight attendants? really?). They have enough slots open without destabilizing their already wonky schedule.
But I do think that one of these shows - OTH, SPN, SV - won't survive this year and unfortunately for the OTH fans, I think it'll be OTH. SV actually helped their Friday schedule and SPN is close to syndication so WB might put down their collective foot to keep it for other financial benefits.
I had the viewer count wrong for FF and fixed it. Thanks.

I'm late to this news about Southland, but I will say I am not surprised this once promising show hit the rocks. Even many of us in the forum willing to ride along with the show for awhile had deep suspicions about what they were doing with this. The margin for error was thin with this type of show and that margin was easily exceeded. Give them credit for an attempt at something original. And it is hard to do anything original in the crime genre where viewer tastes have been heavily conditioned by the success of the Bruckheimer shows and the L&O's, and there is suspicion about anything really different. But this show failed on some tv basics, like keeping the camera on interesting characters and providing some hook of some kind.
I don't think the show is within TNT's brand. Only recently have L&O reruns been bumped from the primetime lineup. The Closer is basically a very traditional type of show. Saving Grace is a one-star vehicle and Dark Blue, which I found unimpressive, is a smooth glitzy production. Recent syndicated rollouts are CSI NY and now Numb3rs. How does Southland fit into this?

Originally posted by WlcmZapataTexas: TNT should definately consider Southland, since the episodes are ready to go and it would fit TNT's brand very well. It could be a cross between Saving Grace/Dark Blue. Although, looking at Dateline's demos, perhaps NBC should have hung on to it. Too late now.

Nice to see L&O increasing as the episodes have been very good this year. It's too bad that it got stuck at 8 for a reason that is now completely void, though. (being a lead-in for Southland) I'd like to see what would happen if it and Dateline were flipped, but I doubt they'll actually do that now, especially if L&O is growing.

Why do so many people suggest moving Fringe to Friday? That would just be an unnecessary death sentence when we have clearly seen that it can produce high ratings in another time period than Thursday at 9.
Fringe should move to Tuesday at 9 and air behind AI again come January and then FOX can make a smarter decision for the coming fall and not air it against GA and CSI again.
BTW can anyone explain to me why The CW would air a repeat of MP on Wednesday and an original episode of Smallville on Friday instead of the other way around?
Great retention for The Middle repeat out of Modern Family repeat. I know you can't judge repeats but maybe The Middle could hold Modern Family's audience better than Cougar?
