Creatively, I think Prison Break is played out, but it still rated strongly among adults 18-34in the most recent charts available for that demo. And that's what largely determines ad rates. Total viewer numbers are almost entirely irrelevant. Otherwise Fox would not be able to charge $200,000 for an ad spot during PB.
Whenever people here argue about "dropping below 7 million" (total viewers) or "8 million" or "10 million" total viewers, it's entirely academic. That has nothing to do with the survival of the show. If a show pulls in lots of adults 18-34, it's golden. Advertisers are ageist bast*rds. I refer you again to this ad rate PDF file (made up before the fall 2007 premieres, so of course, the new programs' rates were speculative).

I think Old Christine is on her death bed. Last night's episode was particularly lacking in funny/interesting.

Michael Scofield's only chance of survival is to take over as the CW's CEO and turn the net it into a successful.

Oh, sounds like a typical episode then.
Christine can be a good show, but last night returned them to the 'meany moms' plotline and those two are simply not funny/interesting characters. Noticeably missing in the episode were funny woman Wanda Sykes and straight man (for plot depth) Blair Underwood.

I kind of like that idea, though I'd imagine it would end up more A-Team than Mission Impossible (helping innocent people against bad odds while being chased by the Company, besides, Michael loves it when a plan comes together).
I think PB still has the ratings to survive (just barely, but it is Fox, so the standards are lower), but Michael and Co. can only break out of prison so many times.

Marc/anyone with access to the data,
can you please post the half-hour breakdown -- I prefer Travis' way of posting the data, which breaks it down for each half hour to begin with, so we don't have to keep asking for each individual show...

And when they stop breaking out of prison, the show is over. C'mon. These characters are not so beloved they can just stick them in another show and people will show up. They just aren't. The actors are fine (I'm a fan of William Fichtner for his work in Invasion), but the support simply isn't there.
This is all too reminiscent of the "Veronica Mars joins the FBI" pilot. Which even CW wasn't dumb enough to go for.

Yeah lower, because they're the #1 in viewers, 18-49, households, 18-34, 25-54

Lower standards than what????
NBC?? ---- I don't think so (30 rock, Scrubs, Friday Night Lights).
ABC?? ---- Nope, not them either (October Road, Men In Trees, Carpoolers, According to Jim)
CW ?? ---- Not even close.
CBS?? ---- Well, compared to CBS, everyone has lower standards. CBS will, with just cause, cut a show drawing 10 million viewers.
FOX has nothing else in the way of dramas (House and Bones aside) so you can bet PB will come back.
SCC is more likely on the fence. The next couple of weeks will be telling.
CW is pathetic. I enjoy watching them fail with every passing week. Their entire schedule is just pure garbage. October Road would make a great addition... but as it's been said before... 4 million on ABC would translate to probably 2 million or less on CW, with even worse demos.

"Lots" is such a terribly specific and scientific term. Pollsters use it all the time.
Lots compared to what? Lots in what timeslot, with what lead-in, with what retention from the lead-in, and with what attached expenses?
Yes, it's really oversimplifying to say "If it drops below this number of viewers it's gone", but not as much as saying "If it gets decent 18-34 numbers it's golden." I've seen that argument deployed over and over again--in defense of a whole lot of canceled shows.
Well, the Demo ratings bumped up in the 2nd half hour. From a 2.2 to a 2.5
