Prime-Time Ratings:
Friday 2/08/08

The following results are based on the fast affiliate ratings (Live Plus Same Day data)

-Total Viewers:
NBC: 6.72 million, Fox: 6.44, CBS: 6.29, ABC: 4.68, CW: 3.78

-Adults 18-49:
NBC: 1.9 rating/6 share, Fox: 1.8/ 6, CBS: 1.6/ 5, ABC: 1.3/ 4, CW: 1.1/ 3

----------

Note: Any prior rating results are based on the final nationals. Also, since the level of DVR penetration has increased from 9 percent in early 2006-07 to approximately 20 percent at present, the overall results may be negatively impacted.

----------

-Friday’s Winners:
House R (Fox)

-Friday’s Losers (Excluding Repeats):
The night overall.

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC dominated this uneventful second Friday of the Feb. 2008 sweeps, with a first-place finish in households, total viewers and adults 18-49. Second overall was Fox, followed by CBS, NBC and the CW. When the top-rated network doesn’t even average seven million viewers there is obviously very little to say.

On that note, NBC game show 1 vs. 100 was the most-watched show from 8-9 p.m., with 7.16 million viewers, and tied with a repeat of CBS’ Ghost Whisperer for first among adults 18-49, with a 1.7 rating/6 share in the demo. The Ghost Whisperer encore finished second in total viewers, with 6.57 million.

Also at 8 p.m. was a repeat of Fox’s Bones (Viewers: #3, 5.79 million; A18-49: #3, 1.5/ 5), the first half of Friday Night Smackdown! on the CW (Viewers: #4, 4.32 million; A18-49: #4, 1.2/ 4), and a repeat of Gray’s Anatomy on ABC (Viewers: #5, 3.95 million; A18-49: #5, 1.0/ 3). Overall, Friday Night Smackdown!, which will be exiting the CW this summer, was below-average with 3.78 million viewers and a 1.1/ 3 among adults 18-49 from 8-10 p.m.

A repeat of Fox’s House led the 9 p.m. hour, with 8.20 million viewers and a 2.4/ 7 among adults 18-49. Comparatively, that built from the Bones encore by a hefty 2.41 million viewers and 60 percent in the demo, and it further proves the value of House in the off-network marketplace. If I was a station I would be standing in line to acquire it.

Elsewhere, a repeat of CBS’ Moonlight and NBC’s Friday Night Lights tied for the No. 2 and 3 spots as follows:

Friday 9 p.m.
Moonlight R (CBS)
Viewers: 5.53 million (#2), A18-49: 1.5/ 4 (#3)

Friday Night Lights (NBC)
Viewers: 5.22 million (#3), A18-49: 1.7/ 5 (#2)

Capping off the 9-10 p.m. time period was a repeat of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, with a last-place finish in both total viewers (3.79 million) and adults 18-49 (1.0/ 3). Interesting how House clobbers Desperate Housewives in an encore telecast, isn’t it?

NBC moved into the 10-11 p.m. winner’s circle, with veteran Las Vegas at 7.39 million viewers and a 2.2/ 7 among adults 18-49. Also airing was ABC’s 20/20 (Viewers: #3, 6.29 million; A18-49: #2, 1.8/ 5), which managed to pick-up plenty of steam out of the Desperate Housewives repeat lead-in, and a repeat of CBS’ Numb3rs (Viewers: #2, 6.77 million; A18-49: #3, 1.6/ 5).

Embarassing numbers for FNL. I'm not a fan of canceling shows but NBC should think twice before bringing FNL back again

CBS's repeats did worse than i expected

The reality of FNL is that it will never catch on. And I still say that the haphazard camera movement turns viewers off.

Um, 2009? Yeah, you might want to fix that.

ABC: Did they run commercials for the Natalee Holloway episode at 9:30 nationally? I saw one while I was watching Wheel of Fortune.

NBC: Buh-bye, FNL.

Stronger Thursdays and Fridays (look at that House repeat!) really does make up the losses Fox is getting from Idol.

IMO they've tried to make this show "very original". That obviously worked with the critics (like it did for PD for example) but rarely that works with the general audience

FNL is a goner. Las Vegas I expected to end this season, but with those numbers may be not.

ABC airing Grey's and DH repeats are lost causes. They are better off putting anything else in those spots.

I wonder if FNL might work on the CW... I mean, it can't do any worse than Life is Wild.

I don't think on CW would do better than GG or OTH do. And the show costs a lot more

I thought all tv pundits were praising how cheap FNL is to produce.

If they managed to hold on to most about their demos (which they probably wouldn't) it would put them in about the middle of what the CW usually puts out (GG, OTH, Supernatuaral).

There must be a reason why ABC is airing repeats of DH and Greys and not getting cared of their ratings.

Maybe they're getting a lot of money with that... i don't know Confused

I dont understand why ABC keeps airing GA/DH repeats.
PD/DSM/PP repeats would do better, and it'll give them chance to pick up viewers ready for september. They should run PD/DSM there, from the start, with each episode in order.

I got this from Zap2it... and on Marc's data it says that the CW got 1.1 and on Zap's data, it got 1.3. Which is the real number?

Fast National ratings for Friday, Feb. 8, 2008

Friday's ratings, like last week, were closely contested but not very big. FOX edged NBC and CBS to win the title.

FOX averaged a 4.6/8 for the night, beating out NBC's 4.3 rating/8 share for the top spot. CBS posted a 4.2/7 for third. ABC, 3.2/6, came in fourth, and The CW trailed at 2.7/5.

FOX and NBC each drew a 1.9 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. CBS was third at 1.6, and ABC and The CW tied at 1.3.

NBC's "1 vs. 100" won the 8 p.m. hour with a 4.8/9. A "Ghost Whisperer" repeat on CBS earned a 4.3/8, beating the 3.8/7 for "Bones" on FOX. A "Grey's Anatomy" rerun on ABC took fourth in households, but "Friday Night Smackdown!," 2.5/4, brought more viewers to The CW.

A "House" rerun, 5.3/9, put FOX on top at 9 p.m. CBS' "Moonlight" rerun, 3.7/6, edged NBC's "Friday Night Lights," 3.5/6, for second. The second hour of "Smackdown!" on The CW topped a "Desperate Housewives" rerun, 2.6/5, on ABC.

"Las Vegas," 4.7/8, led at 10 p.m. for NBC. "Numb3rs" scored a 4.5/8 for CBS, and "20/20" came in at 4.3/8 for ABC.

PLEASE CONFIRM it COZ I am REALLY CONFUSED!
