They last went head-to-head on their collective 17th episode. Which was ages ago. Grey's got 27.394 million, CSI got 21.780
Well, considering CSI has lost to GA for most of the season, I'd say this is a bigger slap to GA than CSI. Of course I'm biased but still. At least CSI can claim age as a culprit. It's in its seventh season. Grey's is in its third - and they were a mid-season replacement when they started. After two and a half years, it shouldn't be this easy to slide so far in quality.
Ratings always go down in the spring; the latest drop is hardly surprising. Whatever the factors are, better weather, too many spring repeats, whatever, ratings are always lower in May for most series. This year the drop is more pronounced, but it's still par for the course. It's not the end of network television. Ratings will rebound in the fall as they always do.
UB seems to do a lot better in urban areas than rural ones, which explained why it does better in the metered markets than in the fast nationals. Has UB really dropped any more than the other 8pm series?

Don't forget that in early November both Grey's and CSI got just a bit over 20 million viewers each head-to-head. So they might not be as strong as during February but considering their numbers in the fall...quite normal I suppose.
From Marc's column for Thursday 11/09/06:
At 9 p.m., the winning ball moved into in ABC’s court, with Grey’s Anatomy at 20.57 million viewers and an 8.5/21 among adults 18-49. Second was CBS staple CSI at 20.47 million viewers and a 6.8/17 among adults 18-49.
Nope it was February 22, with Mere"death" episode where Grey's got 27 million. They did both face each other new on April 12, but Grey's was a clip show.

Wow. Amazing how the annonymionity of the internet makes name calling so easy. He's apologized numerous times.. to his daughter mostly and she's accepted the apology. What will it take for a complete stranger like you to accept an apology you have no reason even being apart of?

last's nights'a was the best yet. Go ABC
Yeah, you know... I'm shocked that people honestly are playing the holier than thou game with Alec right now. Who, as a parent, has never lost their temper with their child, and who as a child has never been on the receiving end of something like that?

Maybe it is just a bigger slap to Ugly Betty than to Survivor? Even among the top shows, lead-in does matter. Just look at the situation later in the night between OR and ER.
I loved October Road last night -- and it's great that it's winning in A18-49, and stabilized in viewers, although I was hoping it would stabilized around 11 million. But with everything down (even the massive hits), that's not bad, and definitely set up a great season 2 premiere!

In Minneapolis, I heard about 6 radio ads promoting the new episode of Greys followed by a Men in Trees, which we all know didn't & wasn't going to air.
20 mil seems low for Grey's which had a decent episode last night. Where are the viewers going? Both CSI & Greys are down. . .
Not by 4-5 million! (Or in this case, about 20% ). 24 million-->under 20 million is a drop to take notice of, though not worthy of drawing any concrete conclusions about the hoopla being gone for good. I think the ratings for both finales (CSI and GA) will tell us if people care about returning to the shows or not.
But as for who mentioned age...for CSI to still be this strong in year 7 is commendable!

So, you sit down and watch it with a whole family of people, not all by yourself, right?
Well, I live by myself Just graduated college... though my family DOES watch it (thanks to my recommendation).

Why are people saying CSI beat GA? Because of a couple tens of thousands of viewers? We'll see what happens in nationals there... but GA kicked CSI's butt in the demo (2.4 points), so there's really no ground to be whooping it up about CSI.
