-Adults 18-49: Fox: 2.0 rating/8 share, ABC: 1.4/ 5, CBS and NBC: 1.3/ 5 each
----------
-Saturday’s Winners: Nothing, as usual.
-Saturday’s Losers (excluding repeats): Dateline (NBC), 48 Hours Mystery (CBS) and, of course, the night overall.
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: Although this was the first Saturday of the May 2007 sweeps, obviously you would not know it based on these lackluster returns. On that note, CBS led in total viewers (with just an average 6.14 million), while Fox was No. 1 among adults 18-49. CBS opened the evening with a repeat of CSI (Viewers: #1, 5.69 million; A18-49: #2, 1.3/ 5) at 8 p.m., followed by a repeat of Without a Trace (Viewers: #1, 6.41 million; a18-49: #3, 1.4/ 5) ,and an original installment of 48 Hours Mystery (Viewers: #2, 6.31 million; A18-49: #3, 1.4/ 5) from 9-11 p.m. Fox, of course, aired its perennial combination of Cops (Viewers: #2, 4.99 million; A18-49: #1, 1.9/ 8) and America’s Most Wanted (Viewers: #2, 5.93 million; A18-49: #1, 2.2/ 8).
NBC finished second in total viewers and tied for third overall among adults 18-49 courtesy of Dateline (Viewers: #3, 4.59 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.9/ 4), a repeat of Law & Order: SVU (Viewers: #3, 4.95 million), and a repeat of Law & Order (Viewers: #1, 7.14 million; A18-49: #1t, 1.8/ 7). I think we all knew that the over-emphasis on the Law & Order franchise would eventually hurt NBC.
ABC capped off this abysmal Saturday with a repeat of theatrical Pearl Harbor at 4.15 million viewers (#4) and a 1.4/ 5 among adults 18-49 (#2) from 8-11 p.m.
What can ABC do on Saturday nights? You think maybe they beat NBC to the punch and create a game show/reality night? Their Saturday night movies are doing nothing!

After three nights of A18-49 trending in the May Sweep vs. last year's first three nights:
ABC 2.9 vs 1.8, +60% FOX 2.1 vs 2.0 +5% CW 1.4 vs 1.4 even with WB CBS 2.8 vs 3.9 -27% NBC 2.0 vs. 2.8 -27% MNT 0.3 vs 1.0 -70% from UPN (Thurs. comparison only)
NBC's numbers will pick up as the week wears on, but it's Thursday to Saturday line-up just barely eked out an average in the bottom rung of the 2's.
Given that some high-profile theatrical movies will be released next week (such as "Spiderman 3") and in the weeks to come (including "Shrek 3", "Pirates Of The Carribbean 3"), we may end-up seeing all-time record low Saturday-night (and Friday-night as well) television viewership over the next few weeks.
Many millions more people than usual will be going to the movies the next four weekends, which will hurt prime-time TV viewership on both broadcast and cable; and most of those who do stay home to watch TV will probably watch local baseball telecasts.
If you think last night's (April 28th) prime-time ratings numbers were low, to paraphrase Al Jolson, "You Ain't Heard Nothing Yet!".

That's what I was going to say. ABC is really in a battle with CBS for 2nd this sweeps. I think the fact that CBS really struggled last night demo wise (at least more than usual) is probably a good thing for ABC.

Also, that repeat of Law & Order didn't do too bad actually, considering its original just about did the same.
I'm wondering whether the days of original newsmagazines may on Saturdays may be numbered. 48 Hours Mystery had its second worst number of the season for an original, tieing Dec.23 (1.4) and just slightly better than Dec.2 (1.3).
The Dateline number has to be concerning because it is now three Saturdays in a row that NBC has achieved below 1 in the demo between 8-9 pm (Heroes 0.6, Andy Barker PI 0.55). The last time NBC went above 1 was on Apri1 7th with Dateline's 1.2. As I've said before, numbers at this level start to spark widespread affiliate defection.
Numbers like this can only be fuelling the views expressed in the investment community that GE should divest itself of NBC-U.
If the network doesn't pop into shape, it's going to be The WB/ UPN story all over again. The network hasn't been in any success since 2004. So, bye bye NBC or, just no NBC.
