Agreed. But in order for that to work, TPTB have to fire all the people who made CW such a failure in the first place. They need to stop playing it safe, and try shows that aren't simply rehashes of earlier shows.
Given the weak lead in for boston legal -- I don't think it's fair that you consider it not doing well.
I saw the writing on the wall for Jericho -- this is CBS worst performing time slot. The very least they could have done was put it on an earlier time slot or back on wed or Fri. They are not interested in this show succeeding perhaps to prove they were right to begin with for cancelling it.

Right on.
I agree as well that they need to try a bit harder for original ideas. on the other hand, this season, they did put out three shows that were 'original' for their network. CW Now, Online Nation, and Aliens in America. All three of those shows failed to find a large audience. So, in addition to finding new shows that are more than just rehashes of their old stuff, they really need to find some way to market the new shows to people that are not already watching CW.
Well thanks to Obveeus and Pisher, we finally know who to blame for The CW's failure: me.
That's right... a casual viewer of Supernatural, OTH, Smallville, and Gilmore Girls. I'm the reason they're failing, because I hate all of their new shows because they threaten my favorites.
In all seriousness, I agree with some of what your saying, but to say that the few viewers that the net has are the reason it's failing is just wrong. It's the continued mishandling of the few existing 'hits' they have left and continued mishandling of development of new shows.
You whined a bunch about how the few good shows on CW are treated so miserably by constantly getting shifted to different timeslots and not getting decent spots on the schedule...and you used Supernatural as an example. Until CW can find an audience that doesn't think that way, what hope do they have...seriously?
Carpoolers (Viewers: #4, 3.85 million; A18-49: #4, 1.3/ 3) were barely visible from 8-10 p.m. Boston Legal, which is expected to resume production on four to eight new episodes this season, capped off the evening with 7.23 million viewers (#2) and a third-place 1.8/ 5 in the demo. ABC may want to seriously reconsider the future of Boston Legal given how far it has dropped.
seriously marc... brothers and sister drops from 16 million lead in to 8.6, bl goes from 3.8 lead in to 7.2, which show should be canceled in that equation?
i agree they are low numbers but eventually a horrendous lead starts to chip away at a show.

Agreed. The marketing could be much improved. The CW should also be equally pushing their new programs. Gossip Girl proved that no matter how much the net wants it to be a hit, it will sink or swim on it's own.
No, I think they are saying that the problem with CW is they cater to fans LIKE you. Your not the problem with CW, just annoying.

I agree that you cannot buy success (even if it does work with presidential candidates), but it doesn't make sense for the network to push all their new programs equally, either. Some nights and some timeslots are more important than others. CW would have been foolish to have spent as much promoting CW Now and Online Nation as they spent promoting Gossip Girl, for example. Wednesday night is very important to them since they already have some established traction there. Sunday night is as close to throw scheduling away as they have.

No. the problem is that the CW needs to find fans of TV, not people that obsess over a single program and will actively work to undermine everything else on the network in a mistaken belief that it benefits 'their show'. Thought for the day: a rising tide lifts all boats.
