I wish According to Jim did better, but last night it was agaisnt American Idol, Big Brother, and The Biggest Loser. Its normally only against The Biggest Loser. Please tell me American Idol is only one hour next week!

You might be onto something here... I think that part of the reason the viewers are often at odds with each other is based on how the execs at The CW treat individual shows. Some shows (ie - Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl) are given every opportunity in the world to succeed and generally don't, while others are pushed all around the schedule and manage to hang onto their loyal following (OTH, Supernatural, etc).
It's that small loyal following that The CW should be nurturing and not taking advantage of.
You're partially right but i don't realistically think there are many who don't watch a show beacause the other one will be canceled. For example i've always been an OTH watcher and i knew that if GG does well it might be the end for OTH. Nonetheless i watched GG at least for the first 3-4 episodes. I'm criticizing GG now not beacuase i want it to fail but beacause IMO it's a very bad show
ABC is just a mess. I don't think the returning of originals is going to solve all of ABC's problems. They have huge gaps in their schedule that need to be filled. I'm going to give Just for Laughs a pass because it's cheap filler that should better be left for summer. Going against Idol is hurting it. Carpoolers, According to Jim, and Boston Legal have no excuse for those poor numbers. Boston Legal isn't helping its case for renewal.
Big Brother, as expected, tanked on CBS. Going against Idol was a terrible programming choice. This is purely a summer show with no other appeal. Jericho returned to poor numbers also. If it drops next week, it is already in unacceptable territory. If it gets cancelled again, will there be another campaign to save it? Something tells me peanuts are on pre-order.
The CW is the CW. Enough said.
Idol had a nice increase at 9. I see more two hour episodes in the future, beyond the usual ones.
Law and Order SVU keeps NBC afloat. NCIS did well also.

I think the difference is two high rated shows versus one...

This just in: totally false
CBS will clearly win in viewership: CSI is doing better then Grey's, Survivor is doing much better than UB and WAT will only lose by 1-2 million to Lost (maybe even less)
You are right, CSI wins in viewers Grey's viewership is declining. With Lost getting 15 million last week and Grey's getting 17 million for it's last new episode what difference or good does it do?
The 2 shows are close to equal in viewers. Unless Grey's makes drastic changes it's days of hitting 20 million are gone.

That's exactly my point, Marc. It's a show that hasn't performed well all season... I believe in giving shows time to find an audience, but there's also a time to cut your losses.
Marc, do you think that OTH is a shoe-in to return next season in the fall? Given its superior ratings to Gossip Girl, it should be, but the answer is probably only a "maybe" at best because it's not one of the network's favorites. THAT is why so many of the net's fans are polarized against each other.

You have just now figured out that GG is a bad show? I figured that out after watching the pilot. I think GG is nothing but trash and a horrible show to get the younger teenagers, females, to watch. Bad representation for them.

I would say just about everything on the CW is a shoe-in for next season. It has 6 hours that need to be filled. Sunday nights are open, Friday nights are open, and I believe there in one more night during the week that needs a drama or comedy line-up. Here is my prediction on what will be on the CW next season:
Smallville, Supernatural, One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, ANTM, Reaper, The Game, EHC, Beauty and the Geek (maybe), and the rest are open time slots to fill.
I don't even think Boston Legal is going to reach the sydnication mark at this point. Then again, ABC might not care since the show is not an ABC studios production. They continue production now on post-strike episodes, but I have a feeling the final one that airs will be a series finale.

It's not. It's 2 hours again next week and then 90 minutes on the 26th. It goes down to an hour in March.

I am a Jericho fan, but to make excuses like some secret plan by the network to destroy it is just dumb.

C'mon...they really didn't want to bring it back and admit they had made a mistake so they bowed into the NUTS campaign and only brought it back to save face and made a point of saying that for there to be more JERICHO the ratings would have to be there...and even a chimp knows a struggling show like JERICHO is never going to pull decent ratings at 10PM Sunday.

The person who typed this is correct.

But in the meantime, who's nurturing the CW?
Sorry, but CW has been failing precisely because it's been catering to small loyal online followings, and ignoring real viewers.
Their shows are no damn good. And that's all there is to say on the matter.

One?
Survivor will beat UG. CSI will beat Greys in viewers. WAT has more viewers than Lost.
Lost @ 10pm instead of 9 could also lose viewers instead of gaining. What will they gain when the lead in is close to equal in ratings?
Putting Lost after Grey's does nothing to help Lost only hurt. If Grey's had 20+ million viewers it would help, but 17 million is just going to have Lost end up lower than they are now.

How could Jericho possibly be considered a "family" show? It's about a post-apocalyptic USA when 23 cities have been nuked and armed gangs are roaming the countryside! Hardly feel-good family fare.
I'm a Jericho fan and watched last night, and I think the 10PM time is very appropriate for the subject matter. CBS deserves props for bringing it back after sinking ratings, but I've already accepted the fact that we'll never see a season 3.
I guess you don't remember the episodes with people celebebrating Halloween despite the nuclear holocaust and the town coming out to harvest corn at Stanley's farm...scenes like that are hallmarks of a family show.
no. the point is very simple If you put one high rated show on at 9pm then another at 10p, you have a better scenario than one high rated show at 9p an crap at 10p.What part of that is hard to understand? Thursday night is the battleground of network tv. ABC has been unable to fid ANY show that is sucessful after Greys and ANY show that is sucessful after Lost. Therefore putting them on back-to-back with the stronger show at 9pm is most logical Got it?
