Smart move by the Vulpines to completely redo "Hollywood Week." Getting rid of those group performances was a great idea. There was never much point to it except to try to create tension that made for, or so the producers thought, "good tv."

Lost after Grey's is a BRILLIANT idea. Finally ABC is doing something smart *shock* It solves the whole issue of both shows not being able to prop up another show.

As for last night... poor Jericho. ABC needs a complete revamp on Tuesdays, Just for Laughs belongs in the summer, Jim, Carpoolers, and BL should be cancelled after this season. It is just ridiculous that BL can't survive on it's own.

BB got off to a good start considering the competition. It won't be facing Idol on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays come March which should further help it.

Does anyone think CBS should swap BB and Jericho?

Well ABC will win the demo on Thursdays, but I wouldn't assume that combo will lead ABC to victory in viewers - especially since UB has had trouble getting into the top twenty in either category.

Isn't it great to be arguing about first run Thursday programming again?

I think that it is a good idea. To date, Lost has been deadly for any show that follows it and Grey's Anatomy has been deadly for any show that follows it.

But with the exception (or so I thought anyway) of Sean Cassidy's "Invasion", all the shows following Lost have been pretty damned awful. And much as I liked Invasion, I certainly have no trouble understanding why it couldn't hold onto enough of its lead-in. Anyway, it had a whole season, and I personally found it strangely satisfying that it ended on a cliffhanger. It's a Sean Cassidy thing. You wouldn't understand. Wink

It is probably true that some of Lost's hardcore viewerbase rushes off to start conversing online about What It All Means, the moment the latest episode ends. But I really think the problem rests more with the lead-out shows themselves. And these days, there are hardcore online fanbases for every popular show, and for most of the unpopular ones as well.

It really comes down to finding the right lead-out for Lost. Or not. I honestly don't care.

This just in: totally false

CBS will clearly win in viewership: CSI is doing better then Grey's, Survivor is doing much better than UB and WAT will only lose by 1-2 million to Lost (maybe even less)

BTW kudos to CBS for releasing their post-strike plans so quickly.

A little disappointed by the fact that CSI will only return for 6 episodes (i was hoping for 8) and Shark with only 4 (hope it will not be the last 4 ever).

While I can't comment on enjoyment of OTH. I have to say that CW did well last night both with a considerable higher performance by both shows. Reaper hasn't done that well with a rerun in a long time, and its nice to see any CW show hit over 3 million.

While we can't make a direct comparison with last year (which its up from), thanks to it being on a different night.

What does surprise me is that even though viewer people are watching at compared to the year ago. The difference is withint he possible increase of DVR use in the 9pm hour. Though the 8pm hour is significantly off nearly 10 million viewers, which might help explain Reaper's increase for this week.

I posted last week that CBS is trying to kill JERICHO once and for all by putting it in the death slot at 10PM Tuesdays.

It's more of a family show so it should be on at 8PM-Sundays would probably be best.

How could Jericho possibly be considered a "family" show? It's about a post-apocalyptic USA when 23 cities have been nuked and armed gangs are roaming the countryside! Hardly feel-good family fare.

I'm a Jericho fan and watched last night, and I think the 10PM time is very appropriate for the subject matter. CBS deserves props for bringing it back after sinking ratings, but I've already accepted the fact that we'll never see a season 3.

Hey Marc, don't you think OTH at least deserves an honorable mention for its numbers last night? It had stiff competition and still managed to get over the 3-mil mark, which is a rare thing for the CW.

Maybe this show would have been able to be a hit and last a lot longer on HBO or Showtime. It's a shame because I really did like this show.

You are right, CSI wins in viewers Grey's viewership is declining. With Lost getting 15 million last week and Grey's getting 17 million for it's last new episode what difference or good does it do?

The 2 shows are close to equal in viewers. Unless Grey's makes drastic changes it's days of hitting 20 million are gone.

You might be onto something here... I think that part of the reason the viewers are often at odds with each other is based on how the execs at The CW treat individual shows. Some shows (ie - Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl) are given every opportunity in the world to succeed and generally don't, while others are pushed all around the schedule and manage to hang onto their loyal following (OTH, Supernatural, etc).

It's that small loyal following that The CW should be nurturing and not taking advantage of.

The only chance I see for Jericho at this point is after NCIS. It would have a lot more competition, though. I really think if the audience wanted to find Jericho, they would have by now.
