That....that's great! Now I know I won't be missing anything good. BTW, who else thinks this is the worst twist?

Lost Finds Post-Grey's Berth!
The writers' strike may end up being the best thing that ever happened to Lost.
ABC is said to be finalizing a post-strike spring schedule that not only hands Lost its best available time slot, but promises to further strengthen the network's stronghold on Thursday night.
According to multiple sources, ABC plans on airing this season's final five* Lost episodes on Thursdays at 10 pm/ET beginning in late April, where it will follow all-new episodes of Grey's freakin' Anatomy! Throw in fresh installments of Ugly Betty at 8 pm and you've got yourself the most formidable one-two-three punch since the early days of CBS' Survivor/CSI/Without a Trace smashup. Creatively speaking, I'd go so far as to say this rivals NBC's storied Must-See-TV juggernaut back in the '90s.
And I haven't even gotten to the best part.
The best part is that I'm hearing that ABC is strongly considering keeping this dream lineup intact this fall... and beyond.
I don't know about you, but this almost makes up for ABC's mishandling of [insert any number of show titles here].
* This just in: I'm now hearing that Lost's final arc may consist of six episodes, not five. No, Team Darlton isn't making an extra episode this season. Rather, the final installment of the current run (aka Episode 8) will likely be held to kick off the final batch of five. According to my spies, Episode 7 makes for a better, more logical, break. Discuss....

If not for the strike, I would agree with you, but a lot of the fall shows are down significantly this spring. I think people knew there was a strike and once the big shows went into repeats, they figured all of them did. People have just stopped watching TV as much. If BL (and the others that have dropped this spring) continue to bring in low numbers after all the shows come out with new episodes, then we can talk about canceling.
Perfectly stated. To the vast majority of TV viewers, shows that launched in the fall are all in repeats. All anyone has heard over the last few days is the writer's strike is over so in a few weeks new shows will start returning to the air. Most people wouldn't even consider BL being new last night. Holly is right, when things get back to normal if BL is not back up to normal viewing levels, then it's time for fans to worry.
OK so BL is now on life-support. It waits the lead-in to arrive to take it off the machines. Even if it returns to normal levels the fans have a lot to worry about
You know what? Any show that sees its lead in go from 17 million to 3 million will see a viewership drop. Even shows like Greys and CSI would show very noticeable differences in numbers if their lead ins dropped like BL's had. Apparently doubling your lead in and growth in the demo means nothing anymore.

Are you kidding. I dont think Lost could ask for a better timeslot. They are certainly not going to keep it at 9 on Thurs with new Greys Anatomy coming back. I think Lost fans should be very happy! quote: Originally posted by lordi: quote: Originally posted by lopez: This just in:

I'd love to see what kind of numbers other programs on ABC that had similar viewership of BL would do in that timeslot. How about we give Brothers and Sisters a go around in that slot? Maybe Ugly Betty? How about Women's Murder Club? I'm certain none of them would do much better if any better at all and in some cases do much worse. The point is that the ABC monkeys wonderful scheduling of new episode then repeat then preemption then new episode along with a lead in of a whopping 3 million has taken its toll.

I think that it is a good idea. To date, Lost has been deadly for any show that follows it and Grey's Anatomy has been deadly for any show that follows it. Now, with this schedule, the GA fans will still desert the network when the show ends, but Lost can bring its own fans to the network for that timeslot. ABC will have most of their Thursday schedule solved. Now they just need to figure out what to do to shore up Ugly Betty.

I agree. Next season however I would still split them up and maybe try something else at 10pm (perhaps Dirty Sexy Money or Brothers and Sisters).

The network will gradually rebuild its regular lineup, starting with the Monday comedies "HIMYM," "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men," which are set to return Monday, March 17. Dramas will move back into their spots over the following three weeks, with "CSI: Miami" the first to return on Monday, March 24. All the returning shows will produce at least four new episodes, and in the case of the Monday comedies as many as nine (the exception being "Rules of Engagement," which will air four new episodes in April and May after "Old Christine" finishes its run). "CSI: Miami" will produce eight new shows, while "NCIS" and "Criminal Minds" will do seven apiece. There's no word on "The Unit," which is on hiatus while CBS airs a winter run of "Big Brother," or "Cane," which completed its initial 13-episode run in December. "Shark" will go back into production for four episodes, but its return date isn't nailed down. The new drama "Swingtown," which hasn't been scheduled yet, will also resume production ............................................
Thanks for the info AL. In an effort to save a tree, I didn't quote your whole post, but I am surprised at how quick that schedule gets new eps on the air. I wonder if all the other nets will be quick with their lineups? CBS has a break for NCAA BB tournament which does save them some eps on Thursdays and Fridays in March.

It's a good decision that makes perfectly good sense to me for this Spring. Beyond that, I still think the two shows (LOST and Grey's are best anchoring Wednesday and Thursdays respectively).

Agreed. No matter how many seasons a show has been on the air, it still benefits from having a bigger lead-in because a significant number of TV viewers are channel squatters.

ABC should look at these numbers for BL and realize they are doing themselves nor the show any favors by airing new episodes until the post-strike episodes are ready. They should hold next week's new episode until DWTS comes back and the post strike episodes are ready. They should do the same with Brothers and Sisters Sunday as well. Otherwise, these are wasted episodes.

I would love to see DSM after Grey's. I think it could be a good fit. DSM is actually a good show with a great cast. quote: Originally posted by mushu_jj: quote: Originally posted by whatsonpop: Are you kidding. I dont think Lost could ask for a better timeslot.
