What follows is the fast affiliate rating results for Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008 in the order of overall network totals and by half hour per program (in the order of ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and the CW):
FOX Continues to Roll Up Nightly Wins After 17 Days of the 2008 February Sweep:
After 17 days of the February Sweep, FOX continues to roll up nightly victories as in entrenches its hold on first place in all key measures. The mammoth FOX lead over its rivals has been fueled by the enormous, record-breaking Super Bowl numbers, the powerhouse American Idol numbers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and reliable ratings strength on every other night.
In the young audience A18-49 demo that advertisers crave, FOX has the most nightly wins, having beaten the other networks on 11 out of 17 nights so far (one tie), followed by ABC and NBC both having three nightly wins each (one NBC win was a tie with FOX).
After 17 days, ABC clings to a tiny 0.04 advantage over NBC for second place in the A18-49 demo, while NBC in turn is only 0.11 ahead of CBS in fourth. However, CBS has a firm grip on second place in households and viewership, while NBC has pulled into third place in both households and viewership.
After 17 days, FOX and MyNetworkTV are both showing solid double-digit improvement over their numbers from last year. All the remaining networks are showing significant double-digit year-over-year declines, with NBC showing the least year-over-year slippage (-17% in demo, -17% in households, and -12% in viewers) while CBS, who were last year's Super Bowl broadcaster, is faring worst (-62% in demo, -51% in households, -55% in viewers) due to its large proportion of encore programming as a result of the writers strike.
After 17 days, the six networks are showing smaller-than-expected (given the strike and increased use of DVR's) year-over-year erosion: the young adult demo down by -11%, households are down by -13% on a year-over-year basis, while viewership is down by -8% year-over-year.

When its all said and done, ABC will take second in sweeps if only for Lost, Dance Wars finale, and the Oscars, which shouldn't drop too much now that writers are back.
I am surprised at how poorly Miracle did last night as it was a broadcast premiere of the sort of sports triumph movie (The Rookie, Remember the Titans) that normally does pretty well for ABC on Saturday nights.
Also surprised at how miniscule the numbers were for that Jericho encore. I doubt we'll see CBS do that again.
When its all said and done, I predict CBS to have four or five weeks of second place finishes in late March and early April due to the fact that they will have original stuff on the way fairly quickly. ABC will probably return to second in the standings (at least demo) by the time mid-April gets here though due to their heavy hitter remaining in originals. NBC will languish in fourth this spring as the return of the likes of ER, the Thursday comedies, and SVU won't do much in their weekly results. They're still dead on Sundays and Fridays and I don't expect much from whatever airs 8pm Mondays here soon. If I were them, I would've tried Quarterlife there and gone with My Dad elsewhere (perhaps Fridays).
The 22nd game of the 2007-08 season of the P.I. Feedback Challenge is online! You have until Tuesday February 19 @ 7:59am ET to join in on the fun of this game!
Please note the following deactivated entries in PIFC Game #65 due to its now non-existent airdates:
midWC: The Return of Jezebel James (March 12 series premiere)
subWC: Back To You (Fri.) 7.282 m
(xwiseguyx, you are the lone participant, so far in the current PIFC game, who has selected the previously scheduled March 12 premiere of FOX's "Return of Jezebel James" on FOX. Now, it will NOT be seen after American Idol on March 12, so you may alter your roster accordingly, if you wish, otherwise, I will use the Friday March 14 premiere of the same show as a replacement.)
An update of the 2007-08 Cancellation Clock Contest has been made online. Expect some more updates soon, now that the writers' strike is over!
