damn good second half hour for PD... and don't tell me that it's only because of the throngs of people who start watching in anticipation of PP.
Don't get too exited about the half hour increase. Shows in the 8pm timeslot almost always show an increase at the half hour. If Marc posted the half hour numbers for DoND or ANTM, they would likely reflect the same sized increased.
On the plus side, Pushing Daisies didn't shed viewers at the half hour. I think, for the most part, it has stabilized and yesterday's episode was the best one yet. I don't see a reason for any further drop (beyond what all shows will drop come springtime).

Dirty Sexy Money isn't going to be cancelled this week or next. It better not be anyway. I'm starting to like the show and Jill Clayburgh and Donald Sutherland are already Emmy nomination worthy. Last night's episode was a vast improvement over the previous episode which again I do believe will always be the case when we have more Sutherland and Clayburgh scenes.
Plus with 8.8 million viewers last night, its up from last weeks 8.6 million. It's not much I know, but up is up. When finals come in it could go up even more. I hope ABC doesn't cancel a show whose ratings aren't dropping but raising.
Same for Pushing Daisies, ABC has better not cancel that either. I am lovin ABC's Wednesday lineup!
Someone Call the Mental Ward. We've got another live one!!

Looking at the Wednesday ratings, I see only a few shows that are really in trouble. Bionic Woman and Gossip Girp are in trouble. Both are shedding viewers and looking like schedule weak spots.
ABC needs to be concerned about DSM'd demo drop, but the blame may really fall on its lead-in: Private Practice lost a half point in the key 18-49 demo from last week.
Kid Nation, Back to You, 'Til Death, Kitchen Nightmares, and Life are all performing weakly, but no more so than last week.

Looks like we finally found this show's permanent audience. Victor Salva, Kenneth John Freeman and every guy who's ever been on "Dateline: To Catch a Predator."

Still pretty bad, but the FOX robots must be breathing a sigh of relief that a few viewers found their way back to it this week. One more drop would have been fatal.
This is why they have things such as recasts, rewrites and reshoots. Just think, had this show actually been good (and had they found a lead actress with slightly more personality and charisma than a piece of cardboard), NBC could have had a hit. Too late now.

followed by NBC’s Life (Viewers: 7.66 million; A18-49: 2.8/ 8).
The good news for "Life" is that the worse "The Moronic Woman's" ratings get, the better its ratings look. Wouldn't surprise me to see a changing of the guard in due time.

Common courtesy would be to put pisher on ignore. It is rude to waste bandwidth replying to him, much less quoting his drivel.

Point taken. I realize that an increase in the second half hour is more apparent in 8pm shows... still, if it was the creative disaster that some proclaim it to be - I would have expected some minor erosion, at the very least. The increase is encouraging.
And, sorry, I'm not buying the argument that people are tuning into the last half hour in anticipation of Private Practice...
Ugly Betty? (Grey's Anatomy)... perhaps. Chuck? (Heroes)... maybe a little. But Private Practice? I doubt it.

I agree with this. Are people really so excited that Private Practice is coming on that they can't wait half an hour to turn on the TV? Like are they just sitting with big smiles on their faces holding pennants that read "Private Practice" waiting for the show to start?

The fact remains that Private Practice is improving handily on its lead-in. It's ABC's Wednesday night success story (so far). And it's against much tougher competition than PD.
But why don't we see what the next few weeks hold for it?
And even better--midseason. When the other networks will have had time to look at that timeslot--and see how vulnerable PD is.
