Is there any positive news at all that came come from DSM? Anyone?

I'm sorry you'll miss it but honestly the appeal of the show eludes me. The Darling family are just so reprehensible that I couldn't stand spending an hour of a week with them after I watched the pilot.

Sorry about KID NATION though...I do feel the numbers are strong entough to warrant season 2..
to be aired in THE SUMMERTIME...these numbers would be respect able at that time of the year and we could avoid more unproven CBS reality like PIRATE MASTER.

Now about VIVA LAUGHLIN viewing tonight...is it just me or has ANYONE seen any promos from CBS that feature the fact that SINGING occures...I haven't? If CBS is afraid of acknowledge it why...why...why would they greenlight it as a series?!

Both PD and DSM skew younger than those CBS shows. If you look at the night's totals, they aren't that fall apart. I do not know why ABC is wasting the post-DWTS or GA spot. They probably will pull Big Shots, but putting October Road after GA? If you put a show like DSM after GA, if have a possiblity to create a break out hit that can hold its own on another night. I do hope ABC pulls that Big Shots episode for yesterday's DSM epi. Last night's episode was solid, well acted and some great lines. PD is getting better and hope that the buzz and ABC will be patient. TV viewing is changing and networks need to adjust as well.

"Pushing Daisies" vs. "Studio 60:" Did "Studio 60" ever win its time period among A18-49 (after its first week)? Because the way I look at it, both shows have gone up against an older-skewing, highly-rated franchise (Deal or No Deal and CSI Miami, respectively). One has won -- one has lost.

Well, let's look at the ratings data for Studio 60's first three weeks--here's the link to pifeedback--going way WAY back to the beginning here--

http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/63310451/m/19510951

9/18/06 - Overnights: 10.3/16; Viewers: 13.41 million; A18-49: 5.0/13

9/25/06 - Overnights: 8.7/14; Viewers: 10.83 million; A18-49: 4.2/11

10/02/06 – Overnights: 7.2/11; Viewers: 9.05 million; A18-49: 3.5/ 9

So its demo rating was almost the same as PD's in Week #3--even though it was up against the 'older-skewing' CSI Miami--which had a 5.7 in the 18-49 demo that week, and over 17 million viewers.

I'd say the advantage is Studio 60's so far.

Even though it is stone cold dead.

Pushing Daisies was great last night--but yes, a weird combo of a Disney movie, occasional mild cussing, and Roald Dahl and Tim Burton (Edward Scissorhands especially) attributes. I really like it, and imagine ABC is pleased they are on the map here (and I am 18-49 and love the show). DSM I stopped watching, although I may catch up on ABC.com...which leads to my question: I wonder if the number of people watching tv online is a factor in whether the show lives or dies? I checked which networks had the best online viewing options...ABC and Fox won hands down (and appear to use the same viewing program), while CBS' viewing quality was terrible even in smallscreen...I love the idea of catching up on shows online after I miss them during the week. Wonder what the viewing numbers are from this?

I tried to watch a bit last night, and I just have this feeling a lot of people were thinking the same thing--and won't be back next week.

It's is different from most Big Three network dramas, give it that--and the novelty factor will keep it afloat awhile. Before it gets waterlogged. Wink

Would you please QUIT with the gd winking after every smug sentence out of your mouth?

Some of us love TV, and love GOOD TV, something creative, well-written, artistic, thoughtful, and just plain fun.

Even if we don't, even if we hate it, or even with the things we DO hate, we don't rub it in the faces incessently of those who do like whatever we don't like, and niggle and taunt that what we love will be taken away from us.

Personally, retaining a lead in the only demographic that matters and cleaning up in critical accolades (something Studio 60 did NOT do past the pilot, on top of the ratings drop) should be enough for the show. ABC certainly isn't cleaning up in pretty much anything else this season except for it's old standbys.

But again, for the sake of common courtesy, can you please stop with the frigging winking? It's tasteless and condescending.

I guess I'm panicking because even though Big Shots is doing worse, I've heard from various other places that it is a personal favorite of McPhersons, so I just figure they will pull DSM before they do Big Shots. I've said it before, but I would love to see DSM given a chance following Greys.

Considering the fact they ABC re-shot almost all of their pilots expect Pushing Daisies, they really didn't spend that much money on promotion if you add in what Warner Brothers would've spent on re-shooting it.

Is that why I had to look at those nauseating subway ads for months?

And ABC's not paying for the show. Warner Brothers is.

Right, I forgot--production companies just give their programming away. In any event, what you just reminded us is that PD isn't in-house product. Networks tend to go easier on shows that are made by companies under the same corporate umbrella. No DVD or syndication money for PD would be going to ABC's parent company, though I suppose it's a bit silly to worry about that now. Wink

Also every other new show on TV is experiencing the same thing with their ratings,

Yeah, and some of them will be canceled too. I'm not JUST against PD, you know. Personally, I'd like to see about 90% of the shows on TV canceled, but you gotta pick your fights. Big Grin

I'm going to go with the fact that 'Pushing Daisies' is one of the only new shows to keep the same, high numbers for the 18-49 demo.

The same mediocre 18-49 numbers--for one week.

I don't think so... it was 2nd in the demo. I doubt they'd be that quick to sharpen the axe unless they didn't like the direction the show was going after they had temporarily shut down production (after episode 5).

Kid Nation seems to have upticked in demo over last week. CBS needs to make a decision soon on whether to shoot Kid Nation 2 for a spring airing. Maybe Moonves just got his rationale for the go ahead.

As for Viva Laughlin, the only promotion I know of for its singing aspect was during the Tony Awards.

Sort of ironic that both PP and BW are killing their 10PM shows after the hype both shows had -very disappointing numbers for PP and BW and that's just spilling into the 10PM hour.

DSM isn't going anywhere..... well maybe a different time slot... ABC overestimated the appeal of Private Practice and although I think DSM would do better after Grey's... still think it's a tad too quirky to place post Grey's.

DSM, Cashmere Mafia and even midseasons Eli Stone would be better served after DWTS. Let them build an audience after the DWTS train.

As much as I am loving Pushing Daisies... agree.. there is nothing else on in the hour. I wonder how it would do if NBC moved Chuck into the slot.

damn good second half hour for PD... and don't tell me that it's only because of the throngs of people who start watching in anticipation of PP.
