The Unit also gets a back 9 order
broadcastingcable.com

CBS gave full-season orders to rookie comedy The Big Bang Theory and veteran drama The Unit.

Big Bang stepped right into the network’s successful Monday-night comedy block, averaging a 3.6 rating in adults 18-49 and nearly 9 million viewers. In its first season, it is also building on its How I Met Your Mother lead-in by 9% in the demo and 10% in viewers.

Veteran The Unit is averaging a 3.1 in the demo and 11.44 million viewers and comes off its best ratings in many measures since February.

Yes,I doubt they will do it either. CBS does need another comedy night (or at least hour). To the extent that comedy is still successful, CBS has the most success with the more traditional sitcom format at the moment. Opening another night would allow them to give some of the shows more time to find an audience. I still like the idea of TNAOOC on Sundays following 60 Minutes by itself, when there is a late game, and paired with another comedy, or repeats of the other Monday comedies, when there is not. Yes it will be low in the demo out of 60 Minutes, but what isn't?

Of course, it's not going to happen, so .........

Maybe they just rushed to renewal of BBT because they wanted to be able to say something good in the press release about averages before that opportunity went away?

In the most recent week, BBT had a 3.1 in the demo and under 8 million viewers. A 0% demo gain and a 2.9% viewers gain over its lead-in.

I know, BBT is doing well enough for a full season pickup, but what is the real logic in the timing of these press releases? Has 2&1/2Men been picked up for the full season yet?

Your columns do not line up so the data is hard to read.

No, it does not.

It looks like "Tabs" are in between some columns, and multiple individual spaces are in others.

that could be the problem. 'Tabs' are almost never a good thing. Different screen resolutions and different font sizes on other computers make 'tabs' unreliable.

ABC also gave Private Practice a full season order.

So that kind of settles the question of which new show's performance they're happiest with. Like there was any question. Wink

Oh damn, I completely forgot Viva Laughlin was on.

Gee, and all I had to watch last night was a first season episode of The Wire OnDemand, then the 8-9 repeats of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, then a full LOL hour of The Office, then the season finale of Mad Men on AMC.

How could I have been so careless? How can I live with the consequences of my mistake? How low will the ratings be?

From Marks Oct. 19th Newsletter

CBS Wins Despite DOA Viva Laughlin;

Yesterday’s Losers:
Viva Laughlin (Fox), Big Shots (ABC)

CBS’ veteran CSI led the 9 p.m. hour in the overnights, with a 13.0/19, followed by a 12.2/18 for powerhouse Grey’s Anatomy on ABC.

In series-premiere news, there is no singing in the halls of CBS today with musical drama Viva Laughlin previewing at a disappointing (and third-place) 6.2/10 in the overnights at 10 p.m. Comparably, retention for Viva Laughlin out of CSI was just 48 percent. And 21 percent of the audience tuned out at 10:30 p.m. (7.0/11 to 5.5/ 9). Do not expect much this Sunday when Viva Laughlin debuts in its regularly scheduled 8 p.m. time period (out of 60 Minutes). Why CBS, why?

BS is done.

Also Mark is too harsh with UB. It's not rapidly declining. In fact it's up on seson 1 final episodes
