Marc,
I'd like to see the half-hour breakdown for PP and DSM also. Is it a big hassle to post these? It seems like people are interested in the data.
I would also like your opinion. With the threat of a WGA strike looming, are we really going to see many "bubble shows" getting canceled before the situation is settled?
Thanks!
Chris

Oh, sorry. I thought by 'OTH' you meant One Tree Hill, but clearly you were referring to some other show, that actually is good. Otherwise your previous claims to like quality television would be kind of--what's the word I'm looking for--ludicrous! In honor of you--

quote: And off-topic tvguide reports Jorja Fox will return after all on CSI. Why is CBS so keen to keep her on the show is beyond me. CM does better without its lead actor. That's a head scratcher. She's not even the main woman on the show.. Marge is... and if done right the ratings will go up with a new character and actress ( hopefully not the girl they had on last week who looked like she was 12 years old ). I think her coming back is just the attachment the creators have to her and her character. She played chicken with CBS and lost and will go out there and realize there isn't a big paycheck after CSI and will come crawling back for less money.....

It doesn't make sense to start OTH until they can keep it going without interruption. At this point, starting it with the next cycle of ANTM (if that is where they want to put it) makes much more sense than starting it now. In my opinion, they may want to hold off and use One tree Hill as the lead-in for Tuesday rather than expecting the next season of B&tG to live up to that lead-in role.

I do agree that if ABC is going to cancel a show it will probably be Big Shots first. The 10 o’clock slot on Wednesdays is owned for the most part by CSI NY, but the 10 o’clock period on Thursdays is still pretty open, with WAT down and ER fading.

IF GG continues to remain at abysmal levals they should air OTH on Wed. I doubt they'll do that

Just to clarify, the references about a return seem to be towards future guest appearances, not as a regular cast member.

Wow, haha. I'm sorry but that was a pretty lame response. I think only two shows that I watch are not quality, Smallville and Bigshots. I just watch Big shots because of Michael Vartan from Alias and Smallville because I'm a Superman fan and the show used to be good at some point, even if it was very brief. But of course you have only found probably two shows in the history of mankind to be quality so I know you'll disagree with me. I have the same eye condition too Pish, you're not alone.

That's even worse. She turns her back to the show and CBS is begging her for guest apearances.

Cheaper programs are the next model. However, the biggest change will be a new distribution model for shows altogether. Scheduled, ad-supported networks are archaic. Time and technology has passed them by. Cable tv started downward slide, VCRs hastened and the internet and DVRs are hammering in the final nails in the coffin. quote: Originally posted by Seat42f: quote: Originally posted by pisher: quote: Everything is down from last year. The level that we use to judge hit based on live ratings is slowly starting to decrease even more. A show with 9 million and a 3 in the demo is now a pretty stable contender in many timeslots.
In some cases--there is the little matter of how much the show costs to make. And whether the show stays at its 'stable' level. Which many of them end up not doing.
Private Practice is the break out hit this season with numbers that would get thumped but something like Crossing Jordan a few years ago... and Private Practice has to be costing ABC a fortune.... Won't this be the next big shift in TV... a cheaper model to make shows? I can't imagine people are suddenly going to flock back to network tv with so many great cable options and sports packages out there..

Why would B&tG/Reaper Tuesdays and ANTM/OTH Wednesdays be better than OTH/Reaper Tuesdays and ANTM/B&tG Wednesdays? Do you think that OTH is too weak to anchor at all and that its only shot at success is if they put it behind their best show? It seems that ANTM is CW's version of Grey's Anatomy. People that are fans of any borderline show campaign as to why their show should be the one to get the post ANTM/Grey's timeslot.

No! I don't want OTH at 9. That's suicide when Lost and AI come back, well if Lost is put in that time slot. That would absolutely kill OTH.

I tailor the response to the person I'm responding to. quote: I think only two shows that I watch are not quality, Smallville and Bigshots.
So you would consider One Tree Hill to be a quality show? I'm just trying to comprehend what on earth you think the word 'quality' means here. quote: I just watch Big shots because of Michael Vartan
You have a crush. Okay. That's an acceptable reason. Even though Vartan's forehead is huge. And Alias sucked for most of its run. quote: from Alias and Smallville because I'm a Superman fan and the show used to be good at some point, even if it was very brief.
Maybe not as brief as your attention span. quote: But of course you have only found probably two shows in the history of mankind to be quality so I know you'll disagree with me.
I'll definitely disagree that one of the two is OTH. quote: I have the same eye condition too Pish, you're not alone.
If I was trying to have an intelligent discussion here, I would be.

\ I doubt that OTH has a chance at a 6th season. So it really doesn't matter anyway I don't think a OTH/Reaper pairing would work
