Well NBC and Trump may be happy for now, but the truth remains: a CSI repeat has beaten clearly the Apprentice.

Next week NBC and Trump will bite the dust

I think we are seeing the death of scripted tv. With these reality shows opening so strongly the networks will have no incentive to end the strike.

BTW I watched Celbrity Apprentice last night, never watching it again, that's what happens when my favorite is fired the first week. Roll Eyes

While ABC and the CW were out of it, it was a decent night all around for CBS (despite being overly older skewing as usual), NBC (with 2 of the 3 hours doing very well, the other mediocre as expected) and Fox doing well again with Bowl Coverage.

That good number gathered up by Mr. Trump (though next week, it will dive, unless NBC pre-empts) will probably mean that his Apprentice stays put Thursdays at 9 pm, which means NBC will probably break up their 'Comedy Done Right Night' block of four sitcoms going forward. If two comedies stay on Thursdays (say at 8-9 pm), where will the other comedies go?
More than likely, that means Earl & The Office ar the Thursday Comedies.

if the Strike ends soon Scrubs and 30 Rock could head over to Wednesday's at 8pm. If the strike is still on and the season is all but done, neither will/should return, IMO.

I think the celebrities are drawing new viewers to the show. I am one of them.

The list of celebs is a decent one. You have lovely ladies (allways nice to look at), but you have an Ath-the-leet in Jenny Finch, a Playboy centerfold, A Rock Icon, A country Star,a Soprano, An Ultimate Fighter, A Boxer and, oh yea, A Baldwin.

Yes, they may be B & C-listers, but they are celebs with followers.

The Apprentice should hold stedy, except for those FEW weeks when CSI and/or Grey's is a new episode. Then it should see a dip.

Well I don't want to give away any spoilers, but the person who left first week out on Celebrity Apprentice deserved it. She didn't know how to defend herself. At least try to explain your actions.

As for the death of scripted TV, I doubt that will happen. Look at the Power of 10, it bombed this week. Reality shows are very hit or miss. The Biggest Loser has a huge online fanbase which keeps it afloat. American Gladiators will have the sports/wrestling fans watching. Celebrity: Aprentice has the trainwreck factor going for it. Going forwrd, my prediction is Moment of Truth will tank.

I think that's a bit extreme. Yes, a handful of "reality" and game shows do well, but the majority don't. Established shows like Survivor, DWTS, Apprentice, and AI will continue to get high ratings. Most of the new reality shows will either flop outright or fade quickly.

I don't know, since it is getting post=AI airings...if they pick the most controversial person to start the show with, it might hit (let's face it, people like to see other people squirm)...

AG should do well I think (the premiere is going to do well in the male 18-34 demos as good counterprogramming to Desperate Housewives/Cashmere Mafia (which has been getting awful reviews from what I hear). Monday's ep might not be as good ratings-wise if only because it's up against the BCS Title game for most of it...but the Mondays at 8 timeslot has always been good for NBC.

I suppose if I hadn't watched the show, I'd tend to think that as well, but having seen it, I think the numbers will hold OK. (Granted, if the lead in is an NBC comedy, I'm sure there will be some erosion) It was much better than I expected and I suspect others thought so as well.

Celebrity: Apprentice did open up bigger than I expected. That being said, I have a feeling that the numbers are going to drop off in the future. People just wanted to see what would happen and the feedback isn't exactly the best on the boards for this show. On the upside, it will still perform better than Life, Bionic Woman, and Journeyman ever would so it will stick around. If the numbers even come close to holding for their mid-season shows, it just provides futher evidence to dump their four failed fall new shows and never looks back.

The promos for Dance Wars are so very dull that I fear ABC's Dance Wars will tank big time, and ABC is going to have a major problem when it does. How will they fill the gaps in schedule if they have to remove if for the February Sweep?

I also think Dance Wars runs the danger of diluting the Nielsen potency of the Dancing with the Stars franchise.

I think Dancing may be facing Burnout come Next fall.

Between its two cycles the last two years, FOX's Summer dance entry, So You Think You Can Dance, and now Dance Wars, viewers may be burned out on Dance shows. That will be 24 straigh months for the genre. At least with AI, its only 5 months of the year.

Even Survivor has about 6 weeks between cycles and the whole summer off.

And, I didn't even think about Reality Overload while the Writers Strike is on. Who knows what long term effect it will have on TV

Never underestimate the mediocrity of the American mass viewing audience...it'll probably be a huge hit. Roll Eyes

I forgot about Dance Wars. I think it will premiere big because the Dancing with the Stars crowd will tune in. The question is how well it will hold. I don't think it will be a break away hit like Dancing with the Stars, but I think it will win it's Monday timeslot fairly easily.
