As bad as the OR numbers look, it's still around 45% retention in demo. Which, sadly, is not bad as Grey's lead-outs go, though it is out of a diminished Grey's. Half-hour drop is humongous, obviously. I don't know how much better you can expect with a Thanksgiving season premiere of a show that had only six weeks late last season and was never rerun, especially when it's dubiously promoted as a "sneak preview." OR just hasn't had time to become the kind of show people will give up Thanksgiving for.

Will be interesting to see what happens with SW, Notes, and OR on Monday. That night could really be a bomb.

Hold onto your hats..ABC is about to go into an unprecedented nosedive.

---the loss of Dancing on Monday and Tuesday for
several months..replaced by the questionable Monday lineup of SW, Underbelly and OR; and CMafia on Tuesday.

---The continued erosion of Wednesday -- particularly at 8 and 10
---The emergence of CBS on Wednesday and Friday
---American Idol returning with a vengeance Tuesday and Wednesday
---with the exception of LOST (only 8 episodes because of strike .. if they even air) very little bench strength fo ABC to counteract the above.

As I said, real problems for ABC and Mr. McPherson. They're looking at 3rd place in the demo for sure.

Does anyone agree with me?

I understand where Brent is coming from but he went about it the wrong way. There are some people who get nasty by saying "this show should be cancelled" or this "show is horrible". When you are a fan of the shows that aren't getting ratings it just upsets you when people who aren't fans of the show or even watching continuously rip on it at every chance they get.

But when you retaliate by insulting a person just because they report the ratings you are being much more negative than them and contradicting your entire argument.

I would like to compliment Marc for laying off with the "why has Scrubs been on so long" commentary that usually comes with the ratings last week. I know Scrubs doesn't do well in the ratings just by reading the numbers, but since this is the last season of the show(knew that going in) there is really no point in questioning NBC's commitment to the show. It must have been doing something right all these years to stick around this long.

For the most part Marc tells it like it is and gives shows credit when they deliver or dont deliver in the ratings. We can all debate until the end of time what shows we want canceled or not, but at the end of the day neither Marc nor any of us have any say on the matter. In the end that is up to the networks...which in this day and age use far more than just Nielsen ratings(DVR/Tivo delay, streaming episodes on their websites, DVD sales, industry buzz, critical acclaim, blind faith) when it comes to deciding on what stays or goes on their network.

It would be nice if we all refrained from negatively speaking about shows other people like and just discussed and replied to others about shows we like that we have in common. But that is never gonna happen and we are all entitled to our own opinions and tastes in programming.

But personally attacking someone that doesn't agree with you has no place here.

Well first we have to see if the strike goes on or not. That changes a lot.
But one thing is sure. Until DWTS returns ABC will be much weaker. And i think Mondays and Wedsndays are going to be problematic for ABC. Especially on Wed where ABC put all its faith this season. If PP dips below 10 million ABC won't be pleased

I agree with you. It was too offbeat and somewhat difficult to follow.

The good part for CBS is that they aired it on Thanksgiving. But still my guess is in 2 weeks GA will beat CSI by an important margin

Thank you, Gleebo. I have no problem debating the validity of any show. If we didn't, this forum would be a snore. But I will not tolerate any personal attacks, particularly when they come completely from left field.

Wow, that Brent guy was really nasty to people. Marc, don't listen to him, personal attacking is way too much and this is your job, feel good about it.

ABC has won 6/8 on WED.

Its the first time a network won a night with three frosh shows since NINETEEN SEVENTY TWO...

ABC is doing well, and making good programming choices. The DEMO 18-49 and women 18-34 have shown dominance although overall viewership is lower.

So 6/8 with one loss to the world Series and one loss to TG holiday.

Looks like all shows were affected by Holiday schedules.

ABC will win the November sweeps in the 18-49 demo despite the push by Criminal Minds.

Steve is not worried

ABC is going down like a ship. GA's drop from last Thanksgiving to this Thanksgiving is huge. That show is losing their core audience.

Dancing will be finished soon that is the only show that ABC has that is a win with 20+ million viewers every week. The network will be weaker without it.

speaking if ABC any predictionsw on how well Sunday's 4episode of DH will do, its being promoted as the biggest episode of the year... I am predicting 19-20 million, and is it 2 hours over two weeks, or 2 hours Sunday night?

And Marc especially, what do you predict?

Good for you, Marc. That really was unbelievable! Given yesterday's holiday, seems like a good time to say THANKS for all the information, insight, and hard work you put into this forum. :-)

ABC made a big mistake by airing GA last night. Yesterday's episode was one of the best of the series, why waste it on Thnaksgiving. And even worse it's a two part episode. On normal circumstances the next episode would've gotten 21-22 million. But now i don't think it'll surpass 20 million
Good move by CBS wasting a bad CSI episode, bad move by ABC wasting a good GA episode

GA pulls some INCREDIBLE DEMO #s that matters just as much if not more than you magical 20m viewer threshold.

19.605 8.2 11/18/2007 look at the demo 8.2 and nearly 20m viewers. While I do not like the show , it is still a HIT for ABC no matter what CSI is doing. ABC is doing just fine
