Very well said. How many millions of dollars did The CW spend to get that extra 100K - 200K in viewers?

After what must be one of the most overexaggerated, hyped-up, promotions any network has undertaken on any show, GG premieres with 2.44 million and then "surges" to 2.51 million the following week. Of course, to add insult to injury, this is against a backdrop of CW decision to stop streaming the show to boost live audience figures. Yeah. CW desparately needs to find an identity to promote its network---sadly GG will never be that show. Osteroff should give up on it and refocus.

Yeah, but she won't. Maybe after next season--if there IS a CW after next season.
I completely agree. CW has wasted millions on a show that will never be a hit.

Let's also not forget that to save GG from AI, the CW threw all its comedies under the bus by moving them to Sunday, where they have lost over 1m viewers.
CW killed EHC and AiA, and GG barely improves on their Monday ratings this fall despite getting 100x more promotion.

GG premiered in September with 3.65 million viewers and a 1.7/ 4 and the next week it dropped to 2.55 million viewers. And that was still with the huge promotional blitz the network conducted along with Reaper in the beginning of the season. Now it is still pulling around 2.50 mllion viewers and the CW is still involved with a promotional blitz for the show to make it their number one on the net.
My questions are....why put all of your marbles into one show, when there are others, especially new shows still like Aliens in America, that all need to be promoted? Had the CW promoted and marketed Life is Wild better and backed that, would that show still be on?
The network could have split the promo money between its shows. All of its shows need to be promoted, from the struggling to its solid supporters. Does anyone know how much the CW spent the OMG campaign for GG? Was it really millions? The network is struggling, so why make the situation even more dire by placing all of your hope on one show and one campaign?
Peace!!

Um why is Bones on the Honorable mention when it did much better thean the past weeks.

Yeah, but that was a mercy-killing. There's nothing on CW that doesn't merit being thrown under a bus at this point. The whole NETWORK should be thrown under a bus.
I don't know why Ostroff's behavior surprises anyone--she did the same thing with Veronica Mars, her former baby. Wasted the best lead-ins UPN and CW had to offer on it. Did everything possible to prop it up, until it became obvious that nothing could. And now the show she most favors once again features Kristen Bell, albeit just as a voiceover.
I will briefly remind everyone of the creepy resemblance between Ms. Ostroff and Kristen Bell.

Certainly last night's increase has to help.
O ya Bones will be renewed for sure and it my favorite show to.
I think this pretty much sums up why they might be interested:
The Weather Channel produces continuous, 24-hour national, regional and local weather-related programs and is received by more than 96 million U.S. households. It can be seen in more than 97 percent of all cable TV homes nationwide.
The channel’s accompanying Web site attracts about 35 million unique users each month, Landmark said. That puts it among the Web’s 20 most popular sites, and the top destination for online weather, news and information.

ABC: A little surprised at Dancing's rebounds as of late. SW? held up fairly well in the demo. Bachelor continues to get a worse rap than it should (not that it's really strong, but it's demo numbers are identical week after week after week, that's all)
Originally posted by Zitrone: But that might hurt House, FOX's only scripted hit. 9PM has higher HUT levels and all the most successful dramas are there (GA, DH...).
And what day would it be? Tuesday and Wednesday have AI, and 24 will return on Monday. Thursday at 8pm leading in to one of those big new FOX sci-fi series?
I could see FOX making House work in the 8pm Thursday timeslot. Survivor is aging and Ugly betty is teetering on the edge of a cliff just begging for a massive ratings drop. Meanwhile, the NBC comedies are also on death's door.
Since last night was a really competitive night, I am very courious at seeing the numbers for the 9pm - 9:30 half hour for all 5 networks. Having House, 2.5 Men, DWtS, and DOND all going against each other is pretty strong.
This is what I was talking about last season when DwtS, 24, Heroes, and 2&1/2Men were all slotted into that half hour. Girlfriends was facing the most difficult half hour on television.
