Top-rated honors at 10 p.m. went to CBS’ CSI: NY, at a solid 14.67 million viewers and a 4.1/11 among adults 18-49. Crime, no doubt, still pays on CBS.
And to think that some here were predicting that the series would fade off into the sunset, a while back.
CSI:NY shas the pleasure of the easiest timeslot on all of TV right now. Almost no competition at all...and certainly no similiar style competition.
PP beat BL by far. DSM beat it in the demo. Keep in mind BL had a much better lead in.

One note regarding ABC: while DwtS may be a stand alone juggernaut for the network, it isn't a good promotional tool for the rest of their shows. All of their scripted programming is down from last year's levels. Starting the season with 5hrs/week of old skewing 'celebrity' dance competition did not benefit the rest of the network offerings (though it may benefit Friday's reality shows).

ABC - why didn't you put repeats of last season's episodes of these shows on Wednesdays starting mid-July? It's not like you were using the timeslots of anything worthwhile. You would've reminded viewers about these shows (and their incredibly uneven first seasons, which may be why you didn't... but now you have 2.5 failed shows on your hands and very little inventory). Private Practice gets a last ditch attempt at saving after Grey's once Life on Mars fails... but the other shows are toast.
CBS - WTF Criminal Minds? Didn't that show do a 4.7 in the demo last week? I'm not pointing it out because I love the show like so many others on this board (I don't, I think it's one of the most uselessly dull and formulaic hours on broadcast TV)... but because no one is pointing out that it lost 20% of its premiere demo.
Come on, CM did great against much tougher competition. Clearly PP took some of that demo. But who cares? Great numbers for a great show
Exactly Robert. CM just took advantage of less competition last week. this week, they came back to their average, if not a tick higher.
And, as usual, another strong episode from CM. Loved the "Eviler Twin" theory bit.

In the demo, yes, PP beat BL by far, but not in viewers.
Question though, why does BL having a great lead-in matter and then not matter depending on the argument being made.
It is funny how when BL does better than some other shows, it becomes "because the show has a great lead-in", but when BL does not do so well, people say "the lead-in has never mattered with BL".

KR and the CBS lineup both seemingly picked up some older viewers (or below 18, I guess) from Dancing but didn't get any demo boost at all. That is trouble.
Looks like another bad year for the 8pm Wednesday slot in general. Is anyone ever going to be able to capitalize on all that weaknesss?
Incredibly, the CBS sitcoms lost in the demo .2 each. That is big, big trouble.
Right now CBS has their first three Monday sitcoms (BBT, HIMYM, Men) doing very well, and the other three are a disaster. It is going to be the time real soon to cancel the two new ones and let Christine and ROE have a half season each on Monday at 9:30.
No. Its time to put Gary on Monday and use 2.5 Men repeats at 8 on Wed. into Christine. Should Gary fail, Rules gets back the Monday slot. Should Gary succeed like I think he could on Monday, Rules gets to try out the Wed. 8pm slot.
Well, if nobody else will say it, I'll be the first: pisher, you were right about "Pushing Daisies."
Well thanks, Pixley. Nobody really has to say it. It goes without saying.

It is "Studio 60," it just...took them longer to get there because of the strike.
Yeah. Though I have to say, if I had to choose between watching PD and Studio 60, and suicide was not an option, I'd probably go with the latter. PD really does drive most people out of their minds. I think it's losing viewers just from friends and family members grabbing the remote from the hands of its poor afflicted fans, and changing the channel to something else--ANYTHING else.

How much must ABC and NBC be kicking themselves for not returning any of their freshman series to air after the strike? CBS rewarded its viewers, and is reaping the benefits.
ABC should be kicking itself for having greenlit and aired putrescent crawling crap, and then bringing it back for a second chance to prove it is putrescent crawling crap.
Its entire Wednesday night schedule is an embarrassment to television--all the more because a handful of would-be opinion makers tried to make people think it was something more.

C'Mon there's too much to talk about with ABC's meltdown last night to turn today's discussion into another Anti Sarah Palin-Republican bashing thread. Thanks.

How can Couric be so calm when she has a mountain of stupidity in front of her is beyond me
Because she's a professional? How some people can be so arrogant is the real question.
