The CBS comedies were not over 7 million like I predicted. Both were up from last week, though. I definitely see CBS retooling the hour soon, but what would they do? Maybe move the sitcoms to another night, or cancel 1 and put the other on hiatus? I think at this point, if any show is cancelled it would be Worst Week, with Gary being tried at 9:30. I don't think CBS would cancel Christine; It's come this far already, why quit on it now?

I think CBS will keep Christine just so ABC doesnt get it. I think CBS should put two of their comedies (Rules and Christine) and air them in the summer. Then move Gary to 9:30pm. The CBS comedies already do good in repeats. Why not air some of them in the summer? Then for summer do this:
8:00 - BBT or HIMYM
8:30 - 2.5 Men
9:00 - Rules
9:30 - Christine

Then again, this will NEVER happen.

Wednesday Is The Night of Characters Featuring KITT, Christine, Gary, Addison, Chuck, Sutherland, Eddie, Bones, Tyra, Silver, Jerry Springer, The Hoff, Danny & Lindsay, Morgan, Man-Ram, Fukodome, and Brooke Shields with The Hot Lipstick Jungle Girls

DeAnna Russo (KR, NBC), Cubs Fan & Mascot (MLB Post, TNT/TBS), Shemar Moore (CM, CBS)
Gary Unmarried (GU, CBS), Til' Death (TD, FOX), Anna Friel (PD, ABC)

BlueLick's Wednesday Winners:
Criminal Minds (CBS), CSI: NY (CBS), America's Got Talent (NBC), Knight Rider (NBC), Private Practice (ABC), Bones (FOX), The New and Old Adventures of Christine (CBS), Gary Unmarried (CBS), MLB Playoffs (TNT/TBS)

Honorable Mention:
America's Next Top Model (CW)

Depends on Lead-In:
Dirty Sexy Money (ABC)

BlueLick's Wednesday Losers:
Pushing Daises (ABC), Til' Death (FOX), Lipstick Jungle (NBC)

Let me start off by saying that Wednesday is a night of characters and Wednesdays @ 8pm are so tough right now and there was a huge amount of competition inside of that hour. With the MLB Playoffs getting underway with a huge matchup between big markets Los Angeles Dodgers @ Chicago Cubs had a medium-sized effect on all the ratings last night. The game was one-sided half the way so I can imagine audiences turning to other things.

Let's start with ABC b/c they can't be feeling good right now with their Starter Kit lineup with only once show succeeding and that's Private Practice. The absence of each show hurt big time and I think the writer's strike is hurting some shows this year that took the rest of last year off. Pushing Daises was a huge loser compared to when it was a hit out the gate last year. I don't watch PD, but for the fans of that show that's really disappointing. I'm not too surprised for the drop b/c the show was hanging close to under 7 million during the last few weeks last season against Kid Nation when it got second place for the first time. Private Practice getting over 8 million viewers inside of a tough hour surprised me. PP is not Grey's but its a show that caters for the coreship of that audience. PP is great and that might've been its best episode last night. Shonda is on a role with both shows including Grey's, which was great last week and back on par with seasons 1-3. DSM is a show that I've watched twice and its pretty good, but I prefer watching CSI: NY in that hour. DSM's numbers are depended on what PP does so I can't label it a loser.

Also guys don't forget from now on to factor in the playoff competition until early November MLB Postseason is a huge factor as the Cubs get the same kind of ratings the Yankees and Red Sox do.

This is a tough hour and you can see how everything is so packed and full.

CBS' Wednesday Happy Hour at 8pm is doing good so far. I expected under 6 million viewers this week and it got close to 7 million viewers. This is an hour that's going to take sometime for these sitcoms to build. Christine's episode was better than last week's and I like Christine's brother girlfriend as a possible regular. Gary is my new favorite comedy right now its just so funny and I love the family factor in the comedy. Gary should no doubt be placed after Two and a Half Men so it can establish itself and maybe move back to Wednesdays when it establishes itself. Worth noting is the week to week growth in viewers for both shows. The demos are stabilizing over the 2s. Its going to take some time for this hour to get established. On Gary they changed the girl which was a good move I guess? I think the boy should be like somebody mentioned before Jake on Men.

NBC's got to be happy with KR as I did not expect a growth in viewers or in the demo for KR after last week's disappointing performance. KR did way better than Chuck and I was expecting what Chuck did this week for KR. I'm glad I watched KR b/c I was afraid it would be the next Bionic Woman. I think NBC placing it @ 8pm will give KR more life and the episode yesterday topped the pilot and last week's debut. Lipstick Jungle SUCKS! Please cancel that, but Silverman loves him some Shields.

The World's Greatest Show is Got Talent and what a surprise, I hated the results as I wanted Nothin' But Strings or Eli to win, but Niel deserved it too. My advice for Hoff and the show is to get rid of the Vegas act b/c it doesn't fit for certain talent acts and I think its factored for the winner of the show. Got Talent's got a chance to reach 15 million viewers next year. Its the best reality competition right now as DWtS and Idol are all overrated name shows.

FOX should be happy with Bones winning the tough 8pm hour two weeks in a row, but should disappointing with Til' Death. I watched both episodes of Til' Death and I think the show should produce two episodes a week featuring JB and their daughter in the first half hour and the Woodcocks in the second half hour. Til' Death has to move b/c its not a good fit out of Bones. Maybe FOX should have Til' Death lead off at 8pm on Thursdays and put Earl to shame on NBC. I think Til' Death performs better at 8pm, but I'm starting to wonder if they've lost their viewers for good. Just good to see the Woodcocks even though they haven't been asked back officially.

Top Model and the loser of a network CW is doing good in improving this season. To me I think The CW has held Top Model's potential of being a 5-6 million viewer show as the network just has a bad reputation and its killing 90210. The CW has to end in May 2009.

THE CW
2006-09

The WB
1994-06, September 2009-present

Hopefully! Right?

MyNetworkTV should be interesting as they roll out Wrestlemania and Magic tonight and the big premiere of SD which will easily set a network ratings record tomorrow and get the network into fifth place later this year. Next week Flavor Flave, Tony Rock, and Hall all begin a new era next Wednesday.

EHC vs SD! this Friday.

CSI: NY and CM are the best tandem on TV right now as these shows fit better out of each better than any other lineup on TV. They've been together for four seasons now and still haven't lost their touch. CM is having a great year so far and NY kind of sucked yesterday half way through, but it was good to see Maroon 5 sing Goodnight! Goodnight!

TBS MLB Playoffs are going to a beast this season with alot of huge markets involved this season including the Cubs for the first time in five seasons, although they made it last year they aired in horrible timeslots for east coast viewers.

Stay Tuned: Watch out for iCarly on Nickeloden, this is one show that I think could work on a network like NBC and re-grow their comedies. I think iCarly is a network type sitcom. The networks really need to look at shows like these and getting kids back watching the networks b/c kids watch cable too much during prime time.

Interesting Fact: Criminal Minds had a recent survey for age groups watching CM in Pennsylvania the demos are so wrong. Criminal Minds had exactly 544,192 kids under 18 watching the show. That was about 66% of the children who voted yes to watching CM. About 1.7 million children took the survey from various areas in Pennsylvania including Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. In my mind I think the demos are not true and I had a feeling the demos aren't that low for procedurals on CBS.

Coming to an NBC Wednesday near you: Momma's Boys, a new show from Ryan Seacrest which follows 32 single women as they attempt to win over three bachelors -- and more important, those men’s judgmental mothers.
Variety article here

I'd say this is going to flop, but people keep tuning into shows like The Bachelor and Baby Borrowers...

The Chicago Cubs, with its near-hundred year exercise in World Series futility, are the biggest draw for television viewers.

Now that Boston Red Sox have won two World Championships and may get a third, the bloom is off their rose a bit but I would rank them as MLB's 2nd biggest draw.

Even a Yankee fan, like myself ( Frowner for 2008, but generally Big Grin ), has to admit that the Yankees themselves aren't nearly as big a draw as the Cubs and Red Sox. Didn't FOX have one of its lowest World Series ratings ever when it aired the 2000 Yankees-Mets series? I was ecstatic but the rest of the nation outside of New York... not so much.

Summer's not a bad option, but it's very unlikely. Just to point out, Christine did better in its summer repeats Mondays at 9:30 than it is this fall on Wednesdays. That should tell CBS something.

Old Christine has gotten great ratings on Mondays - moving it to Wednesdays was probably a mistake in the first place. But, you are right - ABC will probably pick it up in a heartbeat if they cancel it, but it's slowly getting syndication value. And promoting it on Wednesdays now wouldn't hurt. They've promoted it all summer, yet now, during the regular season when people are watching TV, no promotion. They do that all the time.

NBC schedules 'Mama's Boys' for October

NBC is dropping the new reality show "Mama's Boys" into Wednesday nights starting Oct. 29, replacing ever-flexible "Deal or No Deal" at 9 p.m.

The six-episode, one-hour series is from Ryan Seacrest Prods. and Glassman Media and "centers on three possessive, yet loving mothers who must help their complacent sons choose the perfect woman," according to the release. The mothers choose among 32 single women while all parties live under one roof.

The network also announced casting calls in several cities for a second season -- before the first season has aired. That's either a vote-of-confidence move, or a testament to the possible difficulty of finding complacent sons willing to let their moms choose their dates.

Old Christine never got great ratings on Mondays. In fact, ROE usually gets better retention out of Two and a Half Men then Christine. It did just enough to get renewed, with the help of the ABC threat to steal the show from CBS.

I think it is time for Old Christine and ROE to either prove themselves worthy of surviving on their own or they should be canceled. They cannot feed off the Men ratings forever. CBS needs that time slot to launch new shows.

Look how BBT and HIMYM have both proved themselves by airing in that tough 8:00 time slot with absolutely no help from Two and a Half Men. That 9:30 time slot should go to GU, and Old Christine and ROE should be placed on Wednesday or another night, and prove themselves or just get out. Their days of just feeding off whatever Two and a Half Men gives them should be over. Prove your worth or get out.

I see what you're saying - if they want either show to do well on their own, though, they need to give it the proper promotion and give it time. They promoted it all summer, but now in the fall, when many, many more people are watching television, I haven't seen one promo since its premiere. It has very little competition, with Pushing Daisies and Knight Rider both bombing (especially PD). It has the chance to do well, so all CBS has to do is give it time to find an audience on Wednesday nights.

I'm thrilled America finally got one right. "Pushing Daisies" is unwatchable and deserves to be pushed right off the air. Then at least, the tech crew can get themselves on a show deserving of their talents.

I guess you are not a fan of Tim Burton universe because this show reeks of it Wink

CBS is running promos for Christine and GU. I saw it several times yesterday. They show a quick shot from the three Monday sitcoms and then they say now we have a new Wednesday night comedy night or something like that, and then they showed scenes from Old Christine and GU for the current episode.

There's no thought-provoking television when it comes to "Knight Rider" but please, to you and to anyone in this forum, abstain from any political rhetoric.

Let's all unite for one common purpose: to discuss all things television (and find some time to play this forum's games as well)! Cool
