I'm really enjoying these Friday results. ABC had signs of life on Fridays this fall. Now they're all gone and what morons schedule a game show against the Price is Right? Duel into WMC repeats and 20/20 would've probably yielded higher results and probably shot down Amnesia once and for all. Moonlight fans boycott of CBS has failed miserably. If Shark shows signs of life on Tuesdays, it may be a goner after all. Canteburry's Law could've used a 2 night debut last month on Thursday after Idol and then moved to Friday. If it continues to grow, the Bones-CL lineup may be back next fall since Fox only wants to launch 2 new hours of stuff max. The CW will really miss Smackdown next year, even if its not in their target demo or makes a lot money. There is no way they will be able to make money on Fridays next year.

Justice was a sham I tell ya. How the extremely crappy Standoff could get the post-House slot and not that was mind boggling. Then they put it behind Prison Break, whose serialized audience immediately rejected it.

Last week it lost viewers in its lead in which was a repeat of Bones, so I don't know if it will continue.

As for Moonlight, in all honesty it should be cancelled. It has a very active online following but it is the weakest on Friday and other horror type shows are being developed by CBS that would fit better. To please those fans, I bet it will get renewed. I just don't know where CBS will put it in the schedule.

Moonlight is one of CBS' major successes this year, as its CEO, Les Moonves has acknowledged himself in December. It's doing fine numbers-wise (over 8 mil last time a fresh installment aired) and has a strong fan following.
It WILL and SHOULD be renewed.
And BTW, CL will not go up against Moonlight, and Moonlight will be back on the 25th, a week after CL finishes its run.

Are you taking spin classes from vlis? Moonlight is down considerably in total viewers and demo from Close to Home, which was too old. The show has the "buzz" going for it. That's it and CBS wouldn't want tons of blood shipped to them if it were canceled.

Considering CL was against Price is Right last night, I think it did well in viewers. DUEL did a lot worse then CL. If I was ABC I would give DUEL one more week, and if not improved, kick it to the curb. If I was FOX, I would let CL finish it's run and if ratings happen to go over 7 million viewers (close to it's series premiere numbers) I would give it a mid-season replacement for next year.

I think if it stays around 6 million viewers they should give it a mid season replacment.

Maybe .... March?

I try to avoid lead-in excuses, but clearly FOX did make some choices with those shows and they were bad ones.

The big problem was that JUSTICE, which I liked, was a venture outside of the FOX brand. Apart from whether it "deserved" the HOUSE lead in, it needed the "general audience" HOUSE brings.

The initial pairing with BONES was a misfire. That BONES was a crime procedural meant nothing. It's totally different stuff.

They fooled themselves with STANDOFF and overlooked the simple fact that the show could not even produce credible, believable episodes.

JUSTICE did not have "hit" written on it, but it certainly was a competent and new take on a genre that frankly was dying for a new idea.

I don't think this Price is Right was scheduled until like a week ago (listing from CBS is 3/27 in the URL). Pretty crafty by CBS.

On the Fox shows, my impression was always that Justice/House and Standoff/Bones were better pairings, just based on the tones of the shows, quality aside.

It doesn't matter. When ABC found out TPIR was airing at 9pm, they could've aired the show at 8 and why wouldn't they want to damage NBC in the process. Last year, Bingo did terrible on Fridays in that timeslot. What made them think it was going to work this time?

if they moved it to 8, you'd be crying they were confusing the audience. Big Grin

What about you, spin classes master?
Attempting to compare Moonlight and Close to home is really even less logical than comparing apples and oranges.
Close to Home was a family oriented run of the mill procedural. It was faltering, and since CBS decided to trim their procedural line up, it had to go.
Moonlight is supernatural (occasionally with certain procedural elements), it meshes well with GW, and for a niche show it produces very good numbers. Shall I remind you that Buffy never achieved more than 5 million viewers, usually much less?
For a show that airs in the toughest spot of the week - Moonlight is doing beautifully. It's much more unique than CtH and has a bigger following.

Wow. this night has turned pathetic real quick. Saturday levels here we go!!!

Amnesia is anemic. It doesn't (and never) had a chance.

Also, 1 vs. 100 should NOT have been renewed. I give NBC props for taking a gamble on a possilbe friday hit (Carusoe at 8pm).

Duel is a huge bomb. Please no one try to say that it's a victim of bad scheduling. It's quite possible the numbers would have been better if it hadn't gone against Price, but i can't imagine those numbers being good enough to warrant a pick up for next season. It dropped from a repeat of AFV for crying out loud!

This is not really a compliment, but Canterbury's Law actually looked like it deserved to be burned off. Not renewed, but not replaced by House repeats.

Well, do you feel the love? No, actually I'm taking Memphis (to lose Monday to Carolina)tonight. With three perennial powerhouses and four overall #1 seeds, CBS has a chance for a pretty good Saturday and Monday -if they can avoid blowouts.

Numb3rs can officially be added to the long list of procedurals that is impressively losing demo numbers...
