Lost isn't a lead-in dependent show so it doesn't really matter if it's after GA or after In Case of Emergency

No it's not -- my point is that the people watching it now are its core viewers. While it's not lead-dependent, a good lead-in never hurts, it's just that it helps some shows more than others. And the shows that have failed following Grey's had nothing to do with the fact that Grey's was their lead-in but much more to do with the fact that they were poor shows.

Yeah but some of its "core" viewers might leave the show once it moves at 10pm

Very doubtful -- if you're willing to follow it across 4 different time changes on 2 different days, I doubt pushing it back an hour with one of the strongest lead-in on ABC's schedule is going to harm it that much. Those viewers that would have left are part of the 2.5 - 3 million that have left since it's premiere. Unless the actual episodes suck, I can't see the time-shift playing that significant of a negative factor.

When mushu said 'numbers' he probaby meant DEMO as well.

Apart from that, SVU does not belong on the list.

Its reruns might triple GA reruns but its originals are in range of 12-13mm.

Thanks Marc for giving Supernatural Honorable Mention.

Herm, what did you think about last night's episode? Talk about a huge reveal that even I did not see coming at the end.

Peace!!

I was a bit disappointed at the ending, wished they had kept Henricksen because he was a great character and had a lot of potential as a recurring. Sadly, not to be. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the episode, it had everything. Including "But you did not shoot the deputy" and Sam's bitchface following. LOL. Oh, good times.

True, but it was done for a reason. I mean...one cannot fight a war in fair numbers on both sides. One sides needs to have an advantage, which is what the demons have now. They have the upper-hand. Cause what better way to go after your foe, which is the boys, than stricking at them where it hurts...their possible allies they could have had. This is shaping up to be a great season. Will be waiting very, very, very patiently for April 24th.

Peace!!

I hadn't remembered that one, but I did notice that the person who claimed that noone would watch Lost on a timeshift basis because it was now on at 9pm is asking for timeshift data for Lost. Whatcha want to bet they add those numbers back in to tout Lost's even higher ratings...and likely the math incorrectly like almost every other person trying to tout timeshift viewer numbers.

As for ES, keep in mind that it always looses around 400,000 and .2 in the demo with the final numbers.
Did Lost have a timeslot runover again? ABC seems to really focus on that artificial means of temporarily pumping the ratings for their press releases.

And while NCIS and CSI:Miami may occasionally cross the 18 million threshold, that is their ceiling whereas for Grey's that's near its floor. And none of those, including SVU, can touch Grey's in the demo, as was pointed out above. And I'm pretty sure mushu was talking about scripted, but for unscripted you can't count sporting events, and MoT is completely dependent on its AI lead-in, and has not stabilized yet. Just check out how it does this Monday if you don't believe me -- an episode that's been hugely hyped, and I don't think it will come close to what it does post-Idol. And its 15 million it's at now is still below Grey's level in any case.

If by that person you mean me, I never said "noone would watch LOST on a timeshift basis" -- in fact I've said consistently that it's one of the highest live+7 ratings. My point is that the move would not hurt its fast/final nationals, and I stand by that. The two are two completely different things though.

This 10pm argument is a non starter.

LOST may lose viewers over other issues but not this.

This hour in particular can do big #'s when the right shows are there such as ER and WAT in their better days.

Oh Hell No! Not Sunday nights, the killer of all CW shows. No way!

Tuesday nights at 8 is better, as long as we can keep the gore and the dark edgyness, which I'm starting to think they're finally bringing back.

Or those Barbara Walters and Oprah Winfrey specials.

ITA! It's all about the programming -- what ABC had at 10pm the last couple of years didn't do well because they were not good shows. Period.

I think the CW is setting up Sunday nights to be the comedy evening for them. I would go with Tuesday nights, but they must not change anything from the show. If they do, that would mean the show would lose the edgey quailty that makes it so special.

Peace!!

DOND rarely pulls 17 to 18 million. SVU never does. Moment of Truth only pulled that due to Idol. Its now in the 13 million range with Idol as a lead in. Sunday Night Football varies greatly with some eps pulling 20 million. Some eps pull 10 million. Even CSI: Miami hasn't pulled 16 million this season. So that leaves NCIS, CSI, House, DWTS, and American Idol as CONSISTENT performers of 17 million or more.

You're right. I was thinking SVU pulled in closer to 15 million on Originals, back in the fall.

The 10pm hour has falsely gotten a bad "name" in recent years over these issues:

NBC's general failures spanning all hours

ABC problems finding a lead out for GA

CBS's difficulties in the Tues 10pm slot
