Surging from its lead-in by 8.0 million viewers and by 235% in Adults 18-49 (replay of the previous week's episode = 5.5 million & 1.7/4), ABC's "Lost" moved ABC into a dominant first place in the 9 o'clock hour for the fourth week in a row. Despite its decided lead-in advantage coming into the hour from "American Idol," "Lost" outperformed second-place Fox's "Don't Forget the Lyrics" by 1.0 million viewers (13.5 million vs. 12.5 million) and by 19% in Adults 18-49 (5.7/13 vs. 4.8/11).

Although the ABC drama faced stiffer demographic competition in the time period from Fox this week, "Lost" was up week-to-week among Adults 18-34 (5.1/13 vs. 5.0/15), Women 18-49 (6.2/14 vs. 6.1/15) and Women 18-34 (5.6/14 vs. 5.1/14).

I would expect that Lost, CSI, and Supernatural all got a boost from the bigger 'lead-in' (around 11 million American Idol viewers that didn't stay with FOX when Idol ended).

As for Lost at 10pm i think that was bad choice. In the best case scenario i see Lost pulling around 12 million. But it might be worse

Grey's had its peak, which is REALLY sad considering it's only been on a few years.

I expect CSI: to be up to about 20-24 million upon its return for the weeks Grey's isn't on, and when Grey's is back, it will be at about 16 million, with CSI: at about 18-20.

I agree and in Eli Stone's case I think that stinks but I won't lose any sleep over it.

while some of you are so critical of LOST ratings, i want to point out to something that you guys missed. On Thursday, the debate between Obama v. Clinton scored big for CNN. I personally think that LOST was probably affected by the Debate. The debate was watched by almost 8 million viewers. Here is the link:

My logic tells me that some viewers TIVO/DVR'd LOST since the debate was live, and it mainly affected viewers in Eastern time zone.

As for DVR numbers, i have indicated before, that LOST should gain about 1.5-2 million additional viewers on the DVR numbers.

What time was it that the debate aired?

It's not Lost responsibility to make sure that shows following it get good ratings. If those shows suck no one can do anything about it. For the record in 2005 when Lost was a lead in to Alias, Alias got a massive bump in its ratings and did quite well, similarly Invasion premiered to about 17 million viewers behind Lost, the fact it lost half of those viewers in the next few weeks is a testament to the show not being good enough.

I'm glad to see this and regretably the myth that these highly popular shows are "problems" has to be frequently debunked.

The 10pm excuse list:

"Not Compatible"
"TOO Similar"
"Too Intense"
"Fans headed to internet"
"Too late at nite"
"Watching DVR's of earlier shows"
"Belongs on another net"
"Not a 10pm show"

My Thursday Thoughts...

Lost: This show is absolutely back on track. The flash forward sequences are FINALLY giving us some answers - the one thing the show did not drove a lot of people away in Season 2 and part of 3.

Fox: With these new shows they have ready to go, Thursday 9pm would be a perfect place to launch them - and they're only doing it with one. That's something that doesn't make any sense.

Eli Stone: Cool little show. It isn't compatible with Lost - and most shows aren't. While it never fared great, Invasion was probably the most compatible.

Supernatural: Appears that it needs to try and fend for itself. If the CW survives, it will likely move.

Well, it is nice to see SN increase in the final ratings, even if it is just a smidge!

Peace!!

I find it interesting at how many posters are concerned about Lost ratings. I has been renewed and the series has an end date. What is there to be concerned about?

Peace!!
