-Adults 18-49: Fox: 3.3 rating/9 share, CBS: 1.8/ 5, ABC, NBC and The CW: 1.5/ 4 each
---------------
-Yesterday’s Winners: Bones (Fox), The Mentalist R (CBS)
-Success for The CW: The Vampire Diaries (CW)
-Yesterday’s Losers (excluding repeats): The Deep End (ABC), Live for the Moment (CBS), Supernatural (CW), The Jay Leno Show (NBC)
----------
-Ratings Breakdown: With ABC and CBS in repeats from 9-11 p.m., Fox scored a rare overnight Thursday victory, beating No. 2 CBS by 2.37 million viewers and 83 percent among adults 18-49.
Underrated Fox crime solver Bones kicked-off the night on a winning note, with 12.37 million viewers and a 3.6 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. I consistently refer to Bones as underrated because it does not get the attention it deserves. Next was week two of ABC drama The Deep End, with an uneventful 6.04 million viewers and a 1.7/ 5 in the demo. Compared to one week earlier (Viewers: 7.11 million; A18-49: 1.8/ 5 on Jan. 21, based on the final nationals), that was a loss of 1.07 million viewers and six percent among adults 18-49. Considering there was no Survivor on CBS in the competitive mix, The Deep End is a definite “loser.”
Over at CBS, Jeff Probst pilot Live for the Moment did not live for the ratings, with just 4.67 million viewers (#3) and a last-place 1.1/ 3 among adults 18-49. While the intentions were good, the show was absolutely unwatchable. Rounding off the hour were repeats of failing NBC sitcoms Community (Viewers: #4, 4.21 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 5) and Parks and Recreation (Viewers: #4, 3.72 million; A18-49: #4, 1.6/ 4), and freshman CW hit The Vampire Diaries (Viewers: #5, 3.72 million; A18-49: #2, 1.8/ 5).
Opposite repeats on the Big 3 networks, Fox’s Fringe got a boost, with 8.90 million viewers (#2) and a first-place 3.0/ 8 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. A repeat of CBS’ CSI was just the opposite -- first in total viewers (9.13 million) and second in the demo (2.0/ 5). Also airing from 9-10 p.m. was an encore telecast of Grey’s Anatomy on ABC (Viewers: #3, 5.25 million; A18-49: #4, 1.5/ 4), repeats of The Office (Viewers: #4, 4.56 million; A18-49: #2, 2.1/ 6) and 30 Rock (Viewers: #4, 3.88 million; A18-49: #3, 1.7/ 5) on NBC, and The CW’s Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 2.65 million; A18-49: #5, 1.2/ 3). Considering the improved lead-in support and lack of original competition, retention for Supernatural out of the second half of The Vampire Diaries (Viewers: #5, 3.68 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.8/ 5) of just 72 percent in total viewers and 67 percent in the demo is disappointing.
CBS moved into the sole winners circle at 10 p.m. care of a repeat of The Mentalist at 11.03 million viewers and a 2.3/ 67 among adults 18-49. Rounding off the hour was NBC’s The Jay Leno Show (Viewers: #2, 4.35 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.2/ 3) and a repeat of Private Practice on ABC (Viewers: #3, 4.33 million; A18-49: #2t, 1.2/ 3). Remember NBC’s initial pitch how Leno would pick up steam opposite repeats? Not!

I agree. However, Fringe was not a repeat and they had a good night, and Fringe and SPN share a fanbase.
Fringe is a go! And now its being taken off air for while but i think with those numbers, even opposite repeats Fox is likely to renew especially after Human target (which is still a fun show i think but wrong lead in) is doing well.
So much for The Deep End. I am really pulling for Happy Town cause ABC needs another drama hit. I can't see TDE finishing it's episode order at this stage. Flashforward might be back sooner than ABC planned, either that or they'll use that slot for another show.

Fringe should get a season #3, but it will need a new night for the fall. It just gets killed on Thursdays when its against originals

Not only that, Amy Acker needs (and deserves) a big break.
Slightly addicted to House and How I Met Your Mother.
Smart move by FOX to air an original Fringe. It was a good episode, but more important, the promo for next week's 'winter finale' looks awesome. I think Fringe has held its own against CSI, and has probably stolen some of its demo. I will go out on a limb and say they should leave it at this 'death slot'; and because I think The Mentalist and CSI will exchange time slots next season. Fringe will do better against TM, than CSI. FOX seems to be a patient network; that patience may pay off.
Excellent numbers for Bones!

Retention is still pretty shoddy given the competition. They should've left it on Tuesdays at 9 this year and then attempted a move next year. If it is renewed (and I think it will be at this point), they will likely NOT change the time slot.

Against Demo powerhouses Office and Grey's Anatomy Mentalist would be destroyed.

There's only four episodes left to air. What's not to finish up?

There is no better lead in than American Idol. Human Target is failing (last Tuesday's AI went 1 minute over so Human Targets 3.7 in the first half hour is probably worse).
